I was just about to purchase the SanDisk UHS-I expecting it to read at 170 MB/s and if I had never watched your video I would be stuck dealing with it reading at 95 MB/s since I do not have their “proprietary” sd card reader. There is definitely a clear miscommunication where people are not informed that they need the sd card reader from SanDisk to obtain the advertised specs from their sd card. There must be thousands of people who were misled and never tested their sd card read rate and are now wondering why their sd card is reading so much slower at 95 MB/s. Thank you for addressing this and bringing it to light!

I rechecked the images on their Amazon listing and they are written so small that it becomes blurry once zoomed in and most people would ignore it. This is definitely a deal breaker and the end of my trust and business with SanDisk.

Just some info here: I use a Lexar Multi-Card 2-in-1, UHS-I/UHS-II, USB 3.1 Portable reader, and here are my benchmark results,
    Sandisk Extreme UHS-I, 256GB ( Tested read speed of 170MBs / Tested Write speed of 123MBs )
    Sandisk Extreme UHS-I, 64GB ( Tested read speed of 169MBs / Tested Write speed of 81MBs )
You can clearly see i am maxing out the Read speed with a NON-Sandisk reader. The write speed of 123MBs on the 256GB card is really good for a UHS-I card.

Thank you for the information. I'm actually looking to purchase a card reader so this is very helpful information. Thanks again!

Wait....so I have the SanDisk 170mb/s UHS-I card that you were talking about and was considering buying the SanDisk 300mb/s UHS-II card for a Canon R6. In order to get the fastest speeds, I figured I should pick up the SanDisk PRO-READER Multi Card Dock. Would I get the full 170mb/s and 300mb/s by using their professional dock? If you don't know, that's fine. But thank you for making a video on this, it's been hard trying to figure it out.

So as per support you won't be able to reach the 170MB/s. They confirmed this card reader and card is proprietary software and hardware and you won't be able to reach that speed with anything else so I didn't buy a pro reader and did not test. That being said, I don't feel confident in anything support says after testing the CFExpress cards and having chats about their sustained writing speeds. I have been a faithful Sandisk buyer for many years but with the misleading and now further testing the new cards I have decided to move toward Prograde and Angelbird. I am actually making new videos coming up on sd / sfexpress cards and card readers but you should watch the previous videos I have on these and start doing more research before buying new cards.

I just ordered the PRO-READER SD and Micro SD because I ordered a uhs-1 sandisk up to 200mo/s. Then I found that that reader wa capped to UHS-1, and that I should buy the multi card reader to get UHS-2, so i almost did that but saw that the Muti card was only compatible up to 170mo/s instead of the 200mo/s of the SD and Micro SD only model. Sandisk need to work on their communication because it is horrible.

Did you end up getting 200mb/s with the Pro-reader SD and Micro SD?

7:42 I can confirm that this works with kingstons wfs dual slot reader which is also a UHS II reader. the only problem is that it can't keep the speeds up when doing dual transfers...

In last few months I have noticed Samsung, Kingston, Delkin(for readers only) and Lexar(Longsys) all have caught up to 170MBps UHS-1 SD marketing though their readers(except for Samsung who dont have any UHS-II products) for these are both UHS-1 and UHS-2 compatible. It seems like Sandisk is taking lessons from WD in diluting their product lines.

Yeah, I think everyone is trying to extend their product life cycle due to the supply chain issues. UHS-1 is dead but they are keeping it alive with the though of 170MBps being a viable option. In most cases it is just the read and you are still getting up to 95MBps on the write. SanDisk has incorporated into the corporate model and it is sad. I have a few more videos on this topic and my new pet peeve with Sandisk. ie. USH-ii and CFExpress cards are expensive and do not perform to what should be expected.

I bought the Micro Sandisk for the use of Dji mini 2 Drone and I hope it will do it job.

Hopefully it does. I think the card isn't the issue as much as the marketing gimmics. I am making some more videos about SanDisk and their uhs-ii cards / CFexpress cards. Those have issues and again misleading marketing.

The best ones on the market that I tested were the Prograde readers. They were the best sustained transfer speeds for sd card and cf express type b. Long term you will find value from them but they are pricey.

I have a question about the 200MBps UHS-1 card? Which reader should I buy to top read speed?

The "SanDisk Professional PRO-Reader SDPR5A8-0000-GBAND" is capped at UHS-1 and will do 200mo/s. The "SanDisk Professional PRO-Reader SDPR3A8-0000-GBAND" will only do 170mo/s at UHS-1, but is also compatible with UHS-2.

You need to have the UHS I and UHS II reader separately. People should buy a 90MB/S UHS-I card instead of the fast card.
