@@ScrapThis-ms3to Those a SUPER reasonably priced! Years ago the cheapest one cost literally 10 times that. I think they are far more available now, and in different designs than they used to be. Thanks!
Hello, I have a Vevor wire stripper also. I have a few suggestions, #1- File and tapper all the openings so the wire insulation does not get caught on the sharp edges. #2. Sometimes I run the wire through the machine twice, cutting the insulation 180 degrees apart (cut top and bottom) two passes. #3- When stripping large wire use the largest hole and that way your gears will stay in contact with each other. With the size wire you are stripping you should have invested in a double roller stripper, it cuts top and bottom at the same time. The insulation just falls off the copper wire. Vevor has one for about $1200.00. (double roller) it cost more than the stripper you have but if you keep stripping the large wire you will not be dissapointed. Good luck......
Indeed. That sounds like great suggestions. I doubt I will run in to that much big copper again but if I do I will look into the bigger stripper. I did start double running the shorter chunks and yes that works great. I didn't think of tapering the ends but I bet that works great. I've got a new video coming up where I show how I got that big wire, it should be fun. I usually have access to smaller wire so I will have to show stripping that as well, I bet the double cutter would help that as well. I haven't been able to utilize the wire winder with that small wire yet, a double stripper might be the key. Thanks for the insight man. I'm always striving to do better. Thanks!
I just got one. It works great. If you size your wire to 80% of the hole it will not get stuck. I am stripping house wire, romex and it does well. Fine tuning lets you do #2 stranded wire with out making needles.
lol, Needles indeed. Those buggers get sharp. I like it, 80% size is a great metric to use. I might write that on Candi so I remember. Great info man, Thanks!
@@chadgreen4853 The solid works good, I did quite a bit of that. I have not did stranded of that size that I can remember. I'm sure it would work well once you get it dialed in. I need to gather all the wire sizes up and do a marathon so everyone can see it in action. Thanks for reminding me :)
I absolutely love my stripper (same style). I you don't want to have to peel all the pieces, let it run through once, turn it 180 degrees and run it again. works great with short pieces you can catch as it goes through.
Indeed, that is great advice. I did start doing that later, you are correct that makes quick work out of it. Did you leave your wheel on the side or take it off, especially with the short pieces going through twice I would think that's a hazard in the waiting? I have also found that bolting or clamping it down to a surface is a smart play. If a longer wire gets snagged the machine can pull itself off the table.
