    Hello, I have a Vevor wire stripper also. I have a few suggestions, #1- File and tapper all the openings so the wire insulation does not get caught on the sharp edges. #2. Sometimes I run the wire through the machine twice, cutting the insulation 180 degrees
    apart (cut top and bottom) two passes. #3- When stripping large wire use the largest hole and that way your gears will stay in contact with each other. With the size wire you are stripping you should have invested in a double roller stripper, it cuts top and bottom at the same time. The insulation just falls off the copper wire. Vevor has one for about $1200.00. (double roller) it cost more than the stripper you have but if you keep stripping the large wire you will not be dissapointed. Good luck......

    • @ScrapThis-ms3to
      @ScrapThis-ms3to  11 месяцев назад +2

      Indeed. That sounds like great suggestions. I doubt I will run in to that much big copper again but if I do I will look into the bigger stripper. I did start double running the shorter chunks and yes that works great. I didn't think of tapering the ends but I bet that works great. I've got a new video coming up where I show how I got that big wire, it should be fun. I usually have access to smaller wire so I will have to show stripping that as well, I bet the double cutter would help that as well. I haven't been able to utilize the wire winder with that small wire yet, a double stripper might be the key. Thanks for the insight man. I'm always striving to do better. Thanks!

  • @howardmadden4582
    @howardmadden4582 11 месяцев назад +1

    I just got one. It works great. If you size your wire to 80% of the hole it will not get stuck. I am stripping house wire, romex and it does well. Fine tuning lets you do #2 stranded wire with out making needles.

    • @ScrapThis-ms3to
      @ScrapThis-ms3to  11 месяцев назад

      lol, Needles indeed. Those buggers get sharp. I like it, 80% size is a great metric to use. I might write that on Candi so I remember. Great info man, Thanks!

      @@chadgreen4853 The solid works good, I did quite a bit of that. I have not did stranded of that size that I can remember. I'm sure it would work well once you get it dialed in. I absolutely love my stripper (same style). I you don't want to have to peel all the pieces, let it run through once, turn it 180 degrees and run it again. works great with short pieces you can catch as it goes through.

    • @ScrapThis-ms3to
      @ScrapThis-ms3to  Год назад

      Indeed, that is great advice. I did start doing that later, you are correct that makes quick work out of it. Did you leave your wheel on the side or take it off, especially with the short pieces going through twice I would think that's a hazard in the waiting? Thanks taking the time to bring up a good point.

These are great places to start (just ask them what they do with their scrap and see if you can work out a deal). Eventually people will know you scrap and things will just start coming your way. Getting the right tools pay off in spades, at my age working smarter not harder is a necessity. I wish I would have started doing that sooner. Always wear gloves and glasses, it will pay off. Sorry I don't recall that.

    • @ScrapThis-ms3to
      @ScrapThis-ms3to  Год назад +1

      I did some more digging and honestly didn't find anything on the plastic nut. I did find that they have lots of different models of strippers. My directions said it came with a manual (there was a piece of paper), gloves (nope), oil plug (yes it was installed an mine had oil in it), hand wheel (I did not install this as it looked like a safety issue to me), and Allen key (I don't remember if it had this). It talked about the oil stone (did not come with an oil stone) as well. So I'm guessing they have some mix-ups at the factory and mismatch stuff. It is very possible your plastic nut was for a different machine? Just a guess. These are made in China and I'm guessing they are shipping so many machines out they get things mixed up every now and then. One more thing, one of the things I read said they are not shipped with gear oil in the gearboxes. Might be a good idea to double check yours is. Mine was but I still checked it and topped it off. I'm guessing it was about right because a lot came out when I leveled it out again. Looked like 80-90 to me. Sorry I couldn't help more. Good Luck and Happy Stripping!

    • @ScrapThis-ms3to
      @ScrapThis-ms3to  2 месяца назад

      I went out and checked. Mine is 60HZ and it runs great. My power around here is made for that. Sometimes at work we have overclocked 3phase 460 power to run on 70HZ instead of 60HZ. We were told that is the max to push the motors. I would think if one was using a 50hz machine with 60hz power it would probably be fine. It might not last quite as long but it would be a little faster and you might get the same amount of work done throughout the life of the motor :) If we look at it the other way around? If you had a 60hz motor and ran it at 50hz I think you would be ok as well, just a little less power. Thanks for the question. Good Luck.

      Wherever I can. The big copper videos I have all came from an old decommissioned plant. I made a deal on it after an auction. I don't have any videos yet but I do take apart a lot of air conditioners and heat pumps. I would ask your local heating and cooling guys what they do with the old ones. If they go straight to the recycling center with them there is definitely wiggle room to make a deal. Facebook and Auctions are a good way to find big stuff. If I lived in a bigger city I would contact manufacturing places and see what they do with junk motors and wire. Wouldn't take too long to setup some sort of route to keep them cleaned out. Good Luck!

      LOL. Yes I like to speed the videos up to pack more in there. I usually do my talking parts at about 1.5 times speed, maybe I should go down to 1.25 :) I'm really not that quick, especially if I'm not over caffeinated.

      LOL Most of it I put at 1.5 times speed. I'm 45 years old, I can assure you I can screw up at any speed :)
