@@bartram33 There really wouldn't be any easy way of knowing by just looking at it for a few seconds, like in this short. Looking around, it seems like the average scallop fossil is anywhere from 5-25 million years old, so while he isn't technically wrong, I'm sure you'd need to test the sample before knowing the exact dating.
Omg I wonder if your mom & my mom are kin and learned to cook from the same teacher?!?!. We had horrible roaches from hiding food under the fridge or any where rather than eat it
I find it amazing that that rock was formed over 20mil years ago, made it's way into a river at some stage lately and then at a certain sec on a specific day it gets cracked open and it's future is forever different. Like a sun, sit's there and burns for billions of years and what is relatively speaking a fraction of a second, it is extinguished.
Jacob, still love watching your videos!!! My guess is your a wonderful father as well!!! Could not imagine growing up with a cool dad line yourself. Thanks for all your hard work!
I thouggt that, at 1st. But, reading a bit more about it, when you do this a lot, you get to know what to look for. The seam, of the bivalves shells, is what we mistook for evidence of 'already opened'. But its not, i assure you. He just knows what to look for.
“20 Million Year Old” this is an assumption, not based on empirical (observed) scientific evidence, plus the “dating” methods these people use are majorly flawed.
Well that isn’t exactly an animal it’s the same as a ancient foot print it’s evidence of the animal, what’s in the rock well is minerals that replaced what that animal used to be, but still cool to see that the evidence still exists.
"lets crack it open" **throws rock** "there we go" "it's not quite cracked all the way through, let's throw it a couple more times" **throws rock 3 times** "there we go, what we have here, is a completely destroyed 20 million year old fossil"

It’s incredible how he can diagnose the fossil as 20 million years old at a glance.
I love how so many people think everybody else is stupid. How do you know he's not an expert, or even a paleontologist?
The voice over is obviously recorded while editing. He might not know what he will find while cracking the rocks.
It’s incredible…because it’s not true.

there's hotspot to find those no? I mean, they didn't just look for random rock on random places.
