Thanks for watching and helping support the channel:)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Always knew you'd go far!! (You should do sponsors!) I'd love it if you could do anything with plaster walls! Drilling in them, plastering them, removing, etc etc! Build a wall & plaster it if nothing else! 😂 Again, congrats! So proud of you!
Thank you Zanna! I’ve appreciated all your support🍻
You have always delivered exactly what the potential for the format of a 'RUclips' could be. You took your channel one step at a time, never trying to leap-frog anyone - or anything. I have mad respect for you brother, and I'm as proud as anyone to have been here early on. You were always our 'best secret'. Can't wait for the new content! Buckle up cowboy, the channel's gonna get quite a bit bigger I think!
Wow, what a great compliment! Thank you very much and thanks for all the support!
I would love to see “here’s how it was, but here is how it should have been”. Any bad design or poor installation would be a good learning opportunity to us.
Excited to see where this goes!
Great suggestion!
Love this idea
Not sure if you already do but just a suggestion, get a wireless mic so the sound comes through a little better. Good luck
If there’s a popcorn ceiling, could you show how to eliminate it? Thanks for your informative videos.
Hey Funny! How about a 5 minute walk through? I promise to give you valid suggestions on future videos if I can see what you have. I promise!
That’s a good idea🍻
Excited for you and the new opportunity.
I would appreciate learning all the ins and outs of setting cabinets, especially planning the layout and purchasing RTA cabinets. Thanks.
I’ve got you covered! I’ll get some RTA cabinets for at least one of the rooms. Thanks for watching 🍻
Love it, man. Great news. The Essential Craftsman Spec House series is one of my favorites. Having a growing familiarity with an ongoing project is immersive for the viewer. Even as a builder, that does this all day everyday, there is something comforting about watching it progress.
Thanks for your point of view here🍻
Dude: love your avatar picture. Totally stealing it. 30-year San Diegan; still consider it my home town. Went to boot camp there in '73, stationed at IB and North Island; lived all over the county from IB to Nestor, to Chula Wanna; ESD to North Park, Hillcrest, Kensington, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos. Hell, the 78 was a 2-lane, back in those days. Oh, and I was on the 805 just before it opened in '75! Good times!
Best!
@@tetedur377 Well, I stole it for (S)alty (D)roog. But have at it.
Can i come get the left overs?.... That kitchen looks about 50 times better than mine 😂
Do you live in BC?
@@TheFunnyCarpenter no but I'm pretty close! Only a 35 hour drive!
We watch because You are Great!! And we appreciate you making these videos to teach us DIYER’s! Thank you, thank you!!
:)
You're talking and all I can hear is that cabinet crown colliding with the window casing.
😂I feel that
Thought maybe I was the only one who noticed that 😂😂😂
I'm glad it's not a channel name update. The Serious Sheetmetal Worker or the Platonic Plumber just wouldn't get the clicks. :)
😂even if the channel isn’t that funny at least the name is pretty memorable🍻
Hey, thanks a lot for being awesome as you are ! Also appreciate your honesty and the non-sponsorship ethics. I would love seeing: radiant floor heating, wall-mounted toilet, garage ceiling storage and workshop optimization for small space and battery and/or solar power management/ switchover. 😂 Some of it is realistic, some of it not but I plan to do all of those in my house so you never know!
Thanks for the idea! Some very interesting things to think about
I'm not a builder or carpenter, but I do love watching how you accomplish your tasks. It's very satisfying, so I look forward to your videos. You should consider hiring an editor to help assemble your videos, so you only need to be concerned with camera placement. 😉
Hi there, love your channel. I would like to see a video about refurbish an old hard wood floor, the process of sanding, stain and apply a varnish.
I would love to do that one day, unfortunately the floor in this place is softwood and really not a great product for actually living!
I like seeing mistakes and how you fixed it ! We can all learn what not to do......lol Congrats !!
Congratulations and best wishes for the future.
Regarding endorsements, If you don't look around for the best product for YOU and your needs and purchase the product with YOUR hard earned money, the endorsement thing is dishonest. It contains a conflict of interests.
So good for you, the way you approach the topic is honorable.
That’s my thinking to. Even if you’re an inherently honest person, the whole dynamic puts you into a bad place.
The thumbnail looks like a slightly older, very much bearded, Steven Crowder.
If the microwave does not vent the range to the outside, would you consider doing that? Or even removing the microwave and adding an actual hood. Thanks
Could be a possibility, thanks Jim🍻
Sounds fantastic! Love watching your intelligent, witty and clear lessons! Would love a bathroom remodeling episode. If not, will enjoy all your other posts!
I’ve got you covered there, thanks for all the support 🍻
Maybe give us a tour of the house so we know what is there to work with.
😂😂I really should have put that in the video. I was loosing sleep over making it so, I finally just winged it to put it behind me.
Good stuff! Your aptitude for teaching is apparent. I've been in the trades since 1996 and I still learn something new almost daily! These videos are one of those fonts of knowledge!
I appreciate that!
Wow!! Something I’ve always wanted to do. When I was married and had the change, my (now) ex wouldn’t have it. I’m going to really enjoy this!!! Retired last year, now a handyman. Subscribed for a while… great tips!!
Well done and enjoy it!
Congratulations on YOUR home! I am soo excited to see everything you do to the kitchen and bathrooms. I'm wanting to remodel and don't really know what exactly I want.
Looking forward to this, just bought a 100yr old house and this will help a lot I reckon!
Congrats!! Looking forward to your ideas and how you solve the problems.
That place looks almost brand new! Congrats on your success.
On another note, I personally don't know how anyone can support Amazon. The way they treat their workers and the way they sell out their online resellers is disgusting.
The fact that people will support a company like Amazon, despite how they treat desperate people doesn't give me much hope for humanity.
I hate how so many other you tubers that have gone the advertising route. I have unsubscribed from many of them.
The Amazon thing is fine as many of us may be interested in the tools and products that you are actually using.
If you get something for free or special deal, just disclose it.
I find it very distracting when an unrelated plug for food, drink, VPN, or other products especially when they are following a script.
Looking forward to the whole house remodel. Be sure to have before and after shots.
Excited to follow you on this journey. Dealing with a half flight of stairs in my bi-level that I removed the carpet from. No skirting on either side. Lots of gaps. Looking for easiest way to either skirt or trim out.
I'll be watching for a guest bathroom gut and remodel including electrical work!
Looking forward to your vinyl plank on stairs videos, there isn't much out there that covers this properly.
Congrats man! That’s super exciting. Between you and Vancouver Carpenter, you guys put out the most useful videos. Look forward to the content!
Totally agree!
Thanks buddy, I owe a lot to ole Vancouver Carpenter, he helped me out big time when I had about 200 subscribers!
I like your kitchen as is it, the color palette stainless, dark brown and white. And thank you for your channel, honesty is such a rare n precious 'commodity'.
I'm interested in replacing old insulation and drywall.
Congratulations on the new old house!
Let’s Goooo! 👊
Thanks Buddy:)
Looking forward to your upcoming videos, congrats on you home purchase
A question: I never cut wood with a circle saw and I do not have much space but I would like to do some adjustments in the kitchen. How should I get started? Also is a circle saw the right thing to use to cut pieces to patch holes under cabinets an between the kitchen and the sealing? Cheers!
How to fix floor squeak when there is access from underneath. And when there is no access (stair)
Congrats! Is this a house you’re living in or a Reno investment property? Can’t wait to see!
1- How to identify a load bearing wall. 2 - how to keep tools from rusting in the winter in a non-heated shed
crooked doors are my #1 pain in the arse, as my house sank into the hill slightly , and one of the post on the front porch has some "surface" rot, not really sure on the best way to patch it up as it only goes about a quarter inch deep
What great news! I am an experienced DIY dude but approach each of your videos with “I can learn from this guy” and, recently, finally got my steel front door plumb, with your great instructions. So Thank you and count on me to continue to watch and like all your videos and use your Amazon links.
That is really appreciated! Thanks Douglas
Flattening /levelling wood and concrete floors before installing floating flooring
Congrats! Enjoy the process! 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
Sounds exciting! Congratulations 🎉
I’m looking forward to watching future episodes 😊 I love doing what you’re going to do. I’ve learned more than just a few new tricks watching you.
I like buying tools that I might need off Amazon too 😂
I would love for you to show us how to retrofit a hidden drawer in the toe-kick of kitchen cabinets
Gtz mate. I'd like to think I'm one that has watched for years.. but glad your channel is going up and up.
I got hooked on the fact the vids are mostly useful and entertaining :)
Much appreciated!
BRILLIANT! Buy a house to remodel, create content from it then, SELL IT for profit!!!!
The plan has taken a while, but it’s coming to life!
Nice!! Maybe closet door options. Is there a mantel? Bath vanity. Built in closet system. Modern pocket doors. Deck, shed, siding.
All excellent ideas, thank you
Can you do a video on how to smooth out a wooden subfloor after ripping up the old flooring?
Awesome! If you ever need a hand, drop me a line. Seriously, happy to help! I’ll bring the Timmy’s or beer afterwards!
Video request: replace kitchen tiles and how to deal with cabinets (tile under or up against?)
PS I stil have my funny carpenter t-shirt! 😊
Thanks buddy I appreciate the offer!
That looks like the border crossing at Sumas/Chiliwack...or do they all look the same?! ANYways...hey, congratulations on the house! One thing I'd appreciate is if you could share how you came to the decisions you'll end up making with the house. Not to make huge videos about options, but just, "I could have done A, B, or C, and I chose C because of [blah, blah, blah] and might have picked A if this was different or B if that was different." Does that even make sense? Keep on keepin' on!
That's a good idea, thank you!
Great stuff! Very excited to see the transformations upcoming. Love your content. The audio and video quality are very good, and the content is incredibly useful. Your presentation style is relatable and understandable. For the house, one thing I personally am struggling with is how to retrofit things into existing cabinets. Like how to modify a standard cabinet to be a trash can holder. How to add a drawer to an open cabinet. How to add sliding shelves into existing cabinets. So many ideas, but I can't seem to get started on them because I don't want to be in the middle of a retrofit with an unusable cabinet and discover my approach won't work! Thanks again for taking the gobs of time it takes to make these videos.
Those are some interesting ideas Sandy thanks for sharing them!
I will certainly use these upcoming videos on my seemingly never ending home renovation. Your vinyl flooring, baseboard and caulking videos have been so useful. Thanks for the genuinely good tips and humor
Thank you!
I am slowing DYI’ing the Reno/refresh on my 20 year old house. I would love a walk through of how to replace/install bathroom cabinets (and how to deal with plumbing).
I will definitely be getting to this
love your channel, and mostly because you are a funny carpenter! I'd like to see best way to remove the popcorn from a ceiling. And maybe how to best organize a tool bench that has become more of a post apocalyptic jumble of who-knows-what's-in -there-pile? Lastly, how to recycle old building materials - like those kitchen cabinets etc.....those look decent and I'd like to know where they're going? haha. oh! and how to install a Belfast or Farmer's kitchen sink! That's all....have fun with your new house projects!
Some excellent ideas, than you Sara. I think I will try and make a real effort to keep things like cabinets and baseboards etc, out of the landfills. Hopefully I will be able to sell them cheap or even give them away on FB marketplace.
Great. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. Would like to see info on bathtub (not shower) surrounds.
Noted!
I'd love to see a video about how you are making one! What's the equipment (hardware and software) you are using, what's your process from filming to uploading etc. :)
Ya that's one I've thought about doing but wonder if people would actually be that interested. Coles notes on equipment would be: Amaran 300c Video Lights with soft boxes, Rode lav mic with Diety Wireless packs, Panasonic S5 cameras, iPhone, K&F Tripods, MacBook Pro, Final Cut X.
I'd like to see you put an in-wall toilet, like the one (Toto) that Stud Pack put in their house they're building down in Texas. It was about 3 videos ago. Based on that, I'm thinking about doing that in my bathroom renovation.
Also, good on you for not prostituting yourself like so many. I actually went Prime video because a) they've started popups that say "we don't allow ad blockers on youtube," and b) I'm not the target population for buying stuff. I'm old, retired, and have most everything I need.
I don't want to hear content creators hawking sponsors' wares because I always suspect that they aren't honest ads. Well, that, and I pay to be ad free. I also don't want to see popup ads for the stuff they're using in the video (I Do Cars), and I'll drop them as a subscriber like a hot rock.
Casey LaDelle is my hero. He only hawks the stuff he's paid for out of pocket - which kind of means when he's bullish on something, some of his videos turn into as much Infomercial as they are about what he does day-in-and-day-out. Which is towing, by the way.
If he doesn't believe in the product, he makes no bones about it. Some companies aren't happy with him, but more content creators should be like Casey.
I agree! If you click on my video about baseboards why should sit through 90 seconds of me talking about something totally unrelated. Lol instead people get to hear me talk about Amazon stuff that I have used in the video.
Outstanding!!
I so look forward to all these upcoming videos!!
Sure appreciate everything you do to push out great content!
Cheers and thanks a lot Bob!
This is what I'd like to see:
The *planning*. How you decide what to tackle first, what jobs to do in what order (for some obvious and some un-obvious reasons). Working on a place like that with so many projects can be like spinning plates, but which plates get attention?
The planning here will be pretty casual!
Congrats bud, keep up the good work.
It would be nice to see how you install pre hung exterior double door (if possible) including demo, prep, trim and caulking. Same goes for window replacements.
Maybe a video on replacing a tub and vanity (particularly where water and drain lines need to be moved).
Refinishing a deck or exterior wood siding if possible. Replacing soffit and facia boards, and eavestroughs.
Moving electrical outlet and light fixture locations, and/or tapping into existing for new locations.
Best of luck on the new project, looking forward to the future videos!
Thanks buddy
Congrats. Let me know if you need some help caulking anything. I've learned how from some videos I've seen. 🤣
Thanks! Will do!
Would love to see some structural changes - both load bearing and non-load bearing walls. Some early videos showing the plans, before walk arounds, etc. Then maybe some cameos by professionals in other trades like tiling, drywalling, etc.?
Thanks for the idea!
Sounds HUGE! Good luck! Looking forward for great content! :)
Fingers crossed!
Congratulations Funny Carpenter, and wish you continued success. Cheers! 🇨🇦💝👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Congratulations!! I love your channel and I’ve learned a lot from your videos. I also enjoy your personality. I’ll be looking forward to all the new videos to come! 😊
Thank you very much!
Congrats. Looking forward. You have helped me a lot. As a single mom I want to learn how to do as much for myself or at least learn more. Will tune in.
You are so welcome!
Congratulations!! Any interest in doing custom pour-in-place concrete countertops? That's on my list of a DIY home renovations that I want to tackle. Full stone countertops about as cheap as you can get them!
hmmm maybe ill give it a go in a bathroom.
One more thing that'd be cool to see from you...I love all of your repair and renovation advice but what about a small home project for beginner DIYers? I'm sure there are a million workbench videos out there but I'd love to follow your lead on a small home project like a cleat peg board or wine rack...you know something we could use to experiment on with our new tools, lumber and rudimentary knowledge. Just a thought for something down the road.
That's a great idea Jay.
Well done! Congratulations! I’ll be watching for sure!
Cheers Earl!
Congrats! Can't wait to see the new content. I just did a house from gut to finish and it took me 2-3 years without making videos :-) . Good luck!
Lol I'm settling in for the long haul!
Enjoying y our channel - thanks for the effort you put in making quality (fun) videos.
Thanks mate
Congratulations!!!! So looking forward to seeing the reno and learning from you. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
You are so welcome!
My biggest worry and concern regarding home improvement is the permitting process. Could you help us understand how to deal with that?
With this place there won't be any permits required unless I decide to move some things in the unfinished basement.
Awesome. Cannot wait to be a part of the Reno. I have learnt a lot from you and it’s always entertaining. Australia watching 🦘🇦🇺
cheers mate!
I’m looking forward to the videos! I watch almost every video you put out. I’d love to see some videos around garage cabinets / storage systems.
Noted!
Congrats man!!!! Im super stoked to be along for the ride with you!!
Thanks Jeff, the support is appreciated!
I watch all your videos! Would love to see you paint bathroom cabinets. I'm ready to get rid of the golden oak!
thank you very much! I really appreciate that:)
Hey could you do a segment on how to pick the order of battle in remodeling a house like you are doing? The list can be long and it’s easy to get lost in the weeds. How to pick the “big rocks” first, etc….greta videos! Look forward to see more!
Cool idea!
Build. All. The. Cabinets! (Congratulations)
I would like to one day, we will see how the work flow ends up!
It might be worth your time to learn from someone to edit videos faster. Get over that hump of sticking with the way you’ve been doing it. It could make a difference from then on.
I'm pretty happy with my editing vid process. I enjoy being able to go from shooting to editing and then back to shooting....almost all the best videos I've made, the ones that really made the difference in making it on RUclips came from reshooting things I didn't like in the editing. Some times easier and faster isn't better.
I would love a primer on refinishing floors. I have a room with floors that are covered in paint and wear. I want to pull out the baseboards, sand, and refinish (try to match the stain of the rest of the house). Thanks and congrats!
Great idea!
Noice! New home, flipping or renting? Whatever the case is, will be interesting to see what you'll do with it! o/
I'm not sure what I will do when I'm finished. Thank you!
Can’t wait. Also buying a house soon, so just make sure you keep them coming in proper order for my own interest 😂
Best wishes on the upcoming projects!
I am so happy for you. Also, if you don't mind what kind of refrigerator do you have?
I think its a Frigidaire
One of the best things to showcase is how do you reno/fix things on-top of previous jobs that were done wrong to begin with.
Good point James
Cheers & Best wishes! Really looking forward to see your videos 😊
Thanks Tiff!
Looking forward to the up-coming content. Congratulations!
Thank you!
Thanks, sounds like a lot of work but a lot of fun too.
Shelves inside closets, we have these stupid wire shelving in our house, and they are not the best looking or best use of space. Interested in making wood shelves and making the closets more efficient. I would love to see what you come up with.
That is definitely in the cards!
Awesome, congrats! Looking forward to the content you put out next with this new project.
Thanks so much!
I learn the most from seeing things when they don't go as easy as hoped. Like hanging doors when the framing is not square/level/plumb. Also, seeing some simple upgrades would be useful rather than complete demo and installing new stuff. Things like adding pull out drawers in cabinets/cupboards.
Some great ideas, thank you
This is exciting! Can't wait to follow along on your journey.
Thanks man
Congrats thats a great opportunity. Maybe you could do a first inspection and first steps to take when redoing a house. The order of operations can be pretty important if you dont want to be re doing your work,
Excellent point the order of operations is very important. I think I will just be pretty free flowing here and go where the wind takes me. The thing with making videos is you have to have the juice and excitement otherwise they turn out pretty bad! Thanks for watching!
Boom, glad ... will be waiting for all the tips and tricks!
Thanks buddy🍻
I’m still waiting on the video about scribing baseboards that meet at an outside corner😅
I'll try and remember that one!
Exciting news! I can't wait to see the videos you create from this new adventure.
Thanks buddy!
