  • Been feeling down lately. Which is odd considering things are going really well. I’ve got a lot of ambition but I feel a lack of focus. Anyway, just wanted to talk some things out with you guys.

no ,that's normal for ambitious people>>>>they always feel they are not doing enough no matter what!
when you start to feel you are doing enough ,you will stop making progress.
because your mind hates to feel uncomfortable , and it will do whatever it takes to feel better .
and as he says ,he is looking for future , because that's what matters for a human, the future ,the past doesn't really matter .
i can see that mark feels empty , like existence of a jewel for no reason.( and that's just guess )
i really thank him for giving us such a unique experience , i can only see from this, learning a lot about life.

Something I'm realizing as I grow in this job is the never ending need for "more." It's this trap that success can lead people into; a bottomless rabbit hole of more opportunities, more accomplishments, more projects, more of a legacy. You reach the next milestone, but it quickly becomes not enough. You check an item off your list and another gets added. And you step back and realize it's just another drug, just another high you're chasing. Self-checking that feeling is really hard, especially in our line of work. I get what you're feeling. You're not the only one.

@Markiplier According to psychology, a man/woman about to be in his 30s or in his 30s goes through what is called a "Mid-life Crisis". Basically it's everything you say, you look back at your life and think what to do want more. "Many middle-aged adults experience major life events that can cause a period of psychological stress or depression", you want and think you can do more which is good. But this might be an explanation to what you feel, but even if it wasn't as humans we want to be better people. You have potential and if you want to do more you do it! Good luck, have fun, and enjoy the ride that is life. (P.S If you do see this Hi)

  • @Cometstarlight
    @Cometstarlight 5 лет назад +2666

I say this with the upmost sincerity, I think your ambition has burned you out to an extent. I'm not saying to stop being you, not at all. You're so focused on "[your] future, your friend's future, humanity's future," etc. and there's nothing wrong with preparing for the future, but I think you're so set on what's going to happen tomorrow or what your 30s are going to be defined by, that you feel like today is passing you by which makes you feel glum.
I've had concerns similar to yours to where it nearly consumed me and the only thing I could think about was the future and what I was going to do. It was miserable because I couldn't enjoy being in the now. My mom still tells me now to take life one day at a time. Nothing wrong in preparing for the future, but don't spend your life worried or stuck thinking about it. Enjoy your life, man. You've got friends, family, and pets that love you dearly, and they wouldn't want you to feel down because you're thinking about the future of everyone. Enjoy your life. Don't feel that you have to "define" your 30s or any other age. Life is different for everyone. I'm still trying to figure out mine. Don't whittle your's away trying to figure it out for everyone else.

I have to say Mark, I know exactly how you feel. New year's eve 1998 my dad died. I was 12. 10 years later I felt really down, and didn't even connect the dots. Obviously I feel down every year. Then this year it was 20 years (I'm not old, not old! 32 is not old dammit). And it has hit me so hard, and again more subconsciously. I started to question everything in the world. I started avoiding facebook and the news because of the depressing stories everywhere. And more importantly I wish I could do more to help those in need. And it's saddens me so much that I can't. But your videos, they have been a constant bright spot. Your infectious enthusiasm, the raging and the laughs. The jump scares and the honesty. Every single one has had me laughing, crying and just feeling better knowing that there are people like you out there. So thank you. Because of you, I have decided to give streaming a try as a way to talk through random things, whether people are there listening or not, it's an outlet. Thank you for just being you

I cried. It's unbelievable how you manage to put my feelings into words. I relate so much. I'm currently battling depression, and I believe a big precursor to this hopelessness I keep feeling is the knowing that I want something to strive for. I crave to feel that I have a purpose and that I change the world for the better everyday. I feel a strong desire to move forward, but I just can't seem to figure out where to start and where I want to go. What am I good at, what do I want to do with my life? This feeling of wanting to achieve something and the lack of hope and direction really fuels any depression, and my depression really blocks the light I'm trying to find.
Thank you for being you. Once again you put my feelings into words and show us that we are not alone.

Mark, this melancholy feeling is probably because you’re a little stressed. You just launched cloak and you’re having fun on the channel and all but because you’re putting out so much content so fast that you’re now subconsciously preparing for the future. And the more you think of the future, the more scenarios you create for yourself, and overall you’re just over stressing yourself. And also, slow down! I know you stated that you were bored and you wanna do more and more but the more you do now, the less you have later, and eventually, you’ll run out of things to do and you’ll get bored again. All you should do know is take like a week long break, chill out, have fun with Chica, sleep in, and discover new music. Mark, you’re amazing and you have inspired me and many other people. Don’t worry, you’re fine. Now relax and chill out.

It blows my mind that this man spends so much time doing and giving and being the best kind of human to look up to, and he still wishes he could do more. That's not something you see very often. It's such an admirable quality. But, it is also a damaging one. I look up to Mark so much. He's the kind of person I want to be someday. He is one of my driving forces. And it makes me wonder: If Mark has done all of this and still wants more, than what more can I be doing? What kind of change can I bring about? Because I also wish to do good and to leave more than I take. Hopefully, me, Mark, and anyone else feeling this way will soon find their purpose. Maybe soon, we will live up to our full potential...

Dude you are amazing person you have helped me through some very hard times. I think it is important to take care of yourself while continuing to do the good you do. My fiancee and I are sleeping in a car because we can't afford to find a house or place I work long hours 50+ a week and my fiancee works full-time and is a student. You have really helped me through these last couple of weeks to turn my over all feelings and keep positive. I look up to you every day. You may feel like you aren't doing enough but when you can give hope to people who don't have anything and help them to push themselves to get up and go to work thinking that it will get better. That in itself is a lot. You give me hope and help me to laugh in the hardest times in my life. Just before we lost our house after I got laid off from my last job. We both were really upset. Your channel the particular video about the games from getting over it made us laugh so much and briefly helped us to forget the hard times we were going through. Every day you have given me some way to forget the times that we have. When I pull into the parking lot where we stay pull out our tarp put it on our little Celica and get all our blankets out. The feeling of saddness overwhelms me but when we turn your videos on and laugh we forget we are in the car. That's the kinda thing you bring to people. So if it helps at all. Thanks so much mark you are an inspiration to me and my fiancee and a dear friend to us even though we have never met.

I'm not a psychologist. I don't claim to be. But I have spent a lot of time working with them and something I am hearing in this and that I have heard from you before, Mark, is concerning to me. You speak a lot about wanting to leave a change on the world which is a good goal tied intrinsically to human nature, but I worry about the lense you are seeing it through. I don't know that you will ever see this comment but to anyone struggling with something similar I encourage you to try and view the impact of your current contributions.
Mark, you may feel you haven't changed the world because your worldview feels largely the same, but you absolutely have. All the young people who have found peace and joy in your content while struggling with anxiety and depression, for example. To them? You changed the world. To some of them you gave them the world again when all they saw was darkness that no one else could shed a light on. Those young people will go on to have successful lives and families should they choose and you contributed to making that possible.
All your charity streams have helped so many. Not only do they raise money, but they inspire others to give and continue to do so. You play a large part in supporting organizations that do so much good in the world. Getting their message out and inspiring people to give.
I could go on but this is already getting long. My main point is that you don't need to and honestly shouldn't try to view your contributions to the world by how you have shaped your own worldview. It is rarely satisfying and you will always see more to do than you have done because you have a kind heart that wants to help. I encourage you to take a moment, maybe once a week, and try to think of the ripple effect your accomplishments have to help others. When I struggled with this I set a goal for myself and for a few months I would go once a week and volunteer at a donation center somewhere in my community. While I was there I would try to think of all the good each package I made could do. It made everything feel so much more special and helped me to see those positives in my everyday life.
Whatever works for you, to anyone who can find this helpful, merely being alive and waking up today has created so many opportunities that the world wouldn't have had if you hadn't. Everything you do, big or small, can change the world. Helping just one person, even if it is you, may not fix all the problems across the globe but for that person you may have just given them the world and that is beautiful.

You bring so many people so much joy, I admire your charity work, and I'm really grateful for your videos. I'm not always feeling, well, happy. And whenever I get really down, one of my favorite things to do to cheer myself up is to watch some of your videos. Your funny ones for a good laugh or some your deeper, more meaningful ones to put a smile on my face. You never fail to make me feel better, even when life is really difficult and heavy. I know you don't know me, and that I'm just another person in this comment section, and that you may not even see this, but I just wanted you to know how much I, and so many other people, appreciate you. Thank you so much, for everything that you do. And I really hope that now, a couple months after you posted this video, that you're feeling much happier.

There are things in life we don't understand. The sudden bouts of unease and loss of direction can strike at anytime and will hit anyone. It can happen to the young, the old, the simple and complex, to the carefree and doubtful. It comes and goes but the memory will stay, like an imaginary chill clinging to your spine. It's up to the person whether the memory haunts or is forgotten

Whatever you decide, wherever things go, remember that all your fans (your family) has your back the whole way. Go make the world a better place!!! No matter what, Charity Live-streams, regular videos, cool sketches, something incredible no one has ever done before, we will help you reach your dreams.

I thought this was really interesting to listen to. I just subscribed to your channel the other day, mainly because I couldn't find RUclipsrs who plated the horror games I wanted to watch but...this...was different. Different in a good way. Let me just say that, Mark, I'm glad that I subscribed to your channel, I think it's really admirable that you open up like this, for me, that's inspiring. And what I find even more inspiring is your attitude to things, like to gaming and RUclips and your family, it's so inspiring for me. So thanks for being you and being awesome.

I'm very grateful for the messages that are being left on youtube for people to see and hear, I hope that they can help others too, thank you Mark.

it's 5:57am. im currently sitting in the same spot ive been in for eleven months. all the days are the same. i barely leave the house or my bed. im stuck in my own unmotivated mind, stuck in learned helplessness. I can't make myself do productive things. im wasting my life and life is stuck right now in this pandemic.
this video made me see where I want to be in the future once im past this but where I could be if only i help myself and change my own mind. I keep waiting for the pandemic to end to say ill be back being successful but I can reframe my mind to make the days matter. im super stubborn and it's easier said than done, but maybe I can do it.
    I need my motivation back

Same. I failed my last exam and have to leave the nursing program. Now, I have to wait a semester to either go back or do something else. It's ok to be feeling down as long as you figure it out and pick yourself back up. I would donate my time if I were you to those people less fortunate. It's the holidays and families don't have food for Thanksgiving, older people are lonely in the nursing home, people are forced to stay in the hospital during the holidays because of unforseen events. It feels good to help and make a difference. You make a difference indirectly for people and that's the incredible thing about youtube. We are all searching for purpose. I understand you man. We will figure it out and hopefully find our purpose. Much love man

I've gotten to the point that I have almost no hope left myself. There's so much happening right now and I've lost control of it all and it's like I'm drowning in my own mind. I see you guys as creators doing stuff like charities and helping people and I want to do that myself, but I'm not really anybody. I don't know who to talk to, and I've never been good at asking for help. Then, I see a video like this, and I know that everyone has obstacles to overcome, even if it is not that bad or incredibly serious. I'm going to keep fighting until I'm able to help others the way you have. Thanks for the pep talk my guy.

They said “it’s ok to not be ok, as long as you don’t give up.” I don’t think they’re trying to say it’s ok to go shoot up a school. They’re saying that feeling sad or unhappy is not a bad thing, as long as you believe that things will turn out ok eventually. Now please leave, since you ruined a perfectly good comment with your toxicity.

Hi Mark, it's okay to feel that way, it happens to all of us and more recently it's happened to me because I feel like my career hasnt advanced where I'd like it to be, because I would like to also leave a positive change in the world. Part of the problem that I found out is that you should not compare yourself to people, and how they've impacted the world as opposed to you. The fact that all 22 million of us love you and support you, is proof that you are doing more than enough for the world, and always trust us to push you forward with whatever we can offer. We are here for each other, as humans and roommates on this small planet.

  • @queenofseven

I know exactly how you feel. My life has barely started yet I know that I want to do something that's going to change the world and make me happy at the same time. I am a really hard worker and I try my best even for things I don't like. But sometimes when I was 13 I would be just relaxing or just doing nothing and I would have a thought in the back of my head telling me "your not doing enough" or "your going to grow up a failure" or even "your useless and your only using others" which whenever I would have these thoughts they would stress me out because I didn't want to do any of those things so I would force myself to overwork myself. I now have more control over those thoughts and I'm preparing for my life in the future one step at a time at a pace I'm comfortable with. My point is there's nothing wrong with pushing yourself but don't push yourself too much, it's like walking on a tipe rope, if you walk one step at a time you will get better at balancing yourself and you are more likely to get all the way across while enjoying the experience, but if you are forced to run across the tipe rope you have a bigger chance of falling and you would be filled with fear and no confidence making the whole experience of walking the tipe rope in the end making you feel not "well I tried my best and I'm proud of myself" but instend "I fell and I feel so stupid I will never do that again"

Fist of all I think it's apart of life to feel like this. My husband and I just bought a house, bought my dream car, we're debt free and just got a great job that I love... but for some reason I feel "behind" (maybe it has something to do with giving up my dream of being a doctor idk..) or down? Anyway your not alone in those feelings and trying to find what you want out of life takes time. But keep your head up! Take the time to step back and see what you have built and the lives you've touched just by having this platform! Thanks for all that you do!
