I remember playing this game when I was like 7, and I was never able to kill the final boss. It freaked me out as well, since it was a pretty happy game up to then.
This theme is so fitting, Elder Shroob is desperate to the point she's killing her own people just to try to get a hit on you, it makes you feel bad for the shroobs if not just a little, despite how awful they are.
Nah, the Shroobs are monsters, completely rotten to the core. They only live to destroy. No leader would consider using a fleet as projectiles, but their dark mindset makes it easy to do.
The Shroobs never once attempted diplomacy. They could've peacefully integrated with the beings of Earth. Plus, their home planet decaying wasn't presented in a very sympathetic light, especially when you consider how they actively chose to invade and take over.
This is rather unique for a final boss battle theme in the Mario series; most of them are fast-paced and fill you with that rush to beat the boss, but this one is much slower and more melancholy. Don't get me wrong though, it fits the atmosphere of that battle great!
Well think about it, this battle decides which species goes extinct. It's a dire and desperate battle for both sides of the coin. Either way somebody is going to lose.

The Final Boss is synonymous with the main enemy in the majority RPGs as well as being the climax of the plot; it is what all of that training was for. This IS the Final Boss by definition of what is the final boss is. The fight that comes after that was more like a "goodie" that the developers inserted, probably to calm the empty feeling that one gets when you finish a really good game/series/book.
I love this music. It's the only video game music I've looked for to download so far. All other soundtracks I have come from movies. This music is epic enough to be in a movie. Nuff said.
+Sour Memes Well I was a very strategized nine year old. I was sweating like nobodies business and my hands were going numb, but it took me an hour and a half to win. I kept saying, "THIS IS THE GREATEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE!!!"
+Sour Memes In reality, the fight with regular princess shroob took about ten tries. But when I finally beat her, I said to myself, I can't give this chance up.
So did i. Only took about half an hour. Princess shroob died in like 2 turns, whilst elder shrrob took another 2. The third form took about 20 turns And uh... shrowser? We dont talk about shrowser. How was all this possible? Be level 26 with 99 copy flowers with the dynamic badge A on mario and the multi whatever badge in luigi. The dynamic badge A quadrupled the power of attack items but consumed 4 whilst the multi free badge let me use any attack item i had for free. Copy flower spam/mix flower for elder shroobs crown and legs. Only items used were about 5 1 up supers.
I love this, and I wish there were more boss themes like it. Extremely epic like a final boss battle should be, but with a saddened twist, like in this one. It makes you feel for the Elder Princess, despite that she is an alien psycho.
@1supermiguel Both. The componist that made the soundtrack for Kingdom Hearts made the soundtrack for the Mario & Luigi RPG series as well. As such, none of them will lose.
I was in the same position as you when I fought this boss; I think I literally went at it for a good half hour or more taking her down, this fight is definitely one of the more intense battles of attrition I ever fought in a video game. The fantastic music made it all worth it though, this is still one of my favorite final boss themes.
This is just amazing. This battle is a battle to the death, with the one who gets defeated will lose an entire race. This song makes it a tragic battle of survival. Either mario triumphs, but the aliens who needed a home will perish or elder princess shroob stops mario, but at the cost of the population of the mushroom kingdom. In the final may be my favorite, but this is the best final boss of any mario and luigi game. Don't get me wrong, in the final is epic in it's own right and the battle also has high stakes, but this has a greater deal of pressure and tragedy as there will be loss of an entire race. Nobody wins without a price. This is why this song is the best final boss theme in the series of Mario and luigi.
@Wackygirl74 Yoko Shimomura, from KH series, Radiant Historia and Legend of Mana series, as well as Final Fight and Street Fighter... ...probably the top female composer for video Games ...She's also doing Final Fantasy stuff, i think its the FF13 versus

I need to remember this music at least for the next seven decades, or however long it will take for my life to end. This theme is connected to so much nostalgia...
Pug 0001 This one is more geared towards a final fight that will determine the fate of the world, while the BIS theme is kinda the same thing, but without the whole "One race will go extinct" thing goin' on.
I JUST noticed that in every M&L game, the villain possesses/mimics Bowser in some way: SS: Bowletta. PiT: The battle after this. BIS: Dark Bowser. It took me years to notice, I know.
wow this is actually pretty good! I didn't think that it would be this awesome but it is! Awesome Mario music! The shadow queen second battle is pretty good too!
GOD. This was a difficult battle. ...ok, maybe not difficult, but VERY long. If you have the right items/ equips, it is easy... but it is VERY, VERY long.
I've been humming this all day. It fits perfectly when you are under a severe time limit, like in an exam. I actually got told off for humming too loudly in class :3
For the longest time, I called this song "Yet Another Requiem", but I've also seen it called "Another's Requiem" or "Another Requiem". Meanwhile, according to the Mario Wiki, it's listed on the "Mario & Luigi RPG: Sound Selection" soundtrack CD as もう一人のレクイエム and the English translation they give for that is "One Person's Requiem"... I suppose it's just easier to call it "The Final Battle" or "Elder Princess Shroob", but honest, I like the other name(s) better, it sounds more poetic. Actually, I tend to like video game soundtrack names like that more often then just the basic "character battle theme" or "level 1" or whatever... even if it does make it confusing when you're looking up the track in question.(that roar at the beginning, though)
As someone said, no matter who wins here, someones going to lose, and that loss will be the end of a entire race. The music fits not only as a means of being the final battle, but to show how dire it is. A battle for survival, for both sides.

The third form took about 20 turns
And uh...
These threads 😂😂
I love this, and I wish there were more boss themes like it. Extremely epic like a final boss battle should be, but with a saddened twist, like in this one. It makes you feel for the Elder Princess, despite that she is an alien psycho.
They should have called it "The end of time."
It's actually called "Another's Requiem".
@@nintendoentertainmentsyste5705 no it's not
@@ancients6623 yes it is
@1supermiguel Both. The componist that made the soundtrack for Kingdom Hearts made the soundtrack for the Mario & Luigi RPG series as well. As such, none of them will lose.
If I'm correct, this song was composed by Yoko Shimomura. Knowing that, this song really starts to remind me of Vector to the Heavens...
That is correct. Yoko Shimomura also composed the music for The Kingdom Hearts games, and some of, if not all, of the music for Xenoblade Chronicles.
I was in the same position as you when I fought this boss; I think I literally went at it for a good half hour or more taking her down, this fight is definitely one of the more intense battles of attrition I ever fought in a video game. The fantastic music made it all worth it though, this is still one of my favorite final boss themes.
It isnt the same without the roar
You know what, fuck it I'm gonna say it- this is more beautiful than Final Hours from Majora's Mask.
There ya go.
@Wackygirl74 Yoko Shimomura, from KH series, Radiant Historia and Legend of Mana series, as well as Final Fight and Street Fighter...
...probably the top female composer for video Games
...She's also doing Final Fantasy stuff, i think its the FF13 versus

Congratulations to Bowser's Inside Story for winning and of course to Partners In Time for this close 2nd place!
I like partners in time more than bowser inside story I dont like How your inside bowser for manly the whole game
One of the best final boss themes I've ever heard in a Mario game.
This song is better with the *RAWR* at the begenning.
I have used this for a few flipnotes, thank you for posting this on youtube so i could use it for my flipnote music.
The funny thing about this boss is that i defeated it without gears and armor (as a kid it was my first rpg and i didnt know hood english bach then, so i thought that gears/clothes are useless. It took me at least 5 hours... God....)
And maybe someday you'll master it.
I hope so.:)
D5dizzler This freaking boss took me 4 hours, and i could remove 50 hp max to every body part!
There’s that roar we all love! XD
Man, why do people shit on this game? People don't like it, and I had that mindset going in, but I ended up LOVING it. At least it will be more appreciated now that paper jam has taken the place of worst mario and luigi game
hrhnicholasable yeah, paper jam sucked. this and Bowser's inside story were the best
paper jam was my favorite
I need to remember this music at least for the next seven decades, or however long it will take for my life to end.
This theme is connected to so much nostalgia...
I perfuer the mario and luigi bowser's inside story final boss music
I think I do too
i think i like it when you can spell
I KNEW Yoko Shimomura did this song! It just sounded like one of her works. Amazing as always.
mario and luigi bowser inside story final boss battle theme sounds better than this
I think so too.
But only slightly better.
Pug 0001 This one is more geared towards a final fight that will determine the fate of the world, while the BIS theme is kinda the same thing, but without the whole "One race will go extinct" thing goin' on.
no
I prefer this one as it encapsulates the theme well
I JUST noticed that in every M&L game, the villain possesses/mimics Bowser in some way:
SS: Bowletta.
PiT: The battle after this.
BIS: Dark Bowser.
It took me years to notice, I know.
@Jakerooo123 That is the BEST summation of the importance of this battle. Seriously. I tip my hat to you.
Dark Bowser had little HP (1000) because they also needed Mario and Luigi to fight Fawful Bug...... But still it is easy.
The finale music of this game really makes you feel like you could take on the entire world as long as you have your friend by your side.
wow this is actually pretty good! I didn't think that it would be this awesome but it is! Awesome Mario music! The shadow queen second battle is pretty good too!
I love the fact that its like if u lose u world will be lost but yet u die and u get to restart the battle XD
The music in the Mario and Luigi games are seriously awesome, I can't wait for the next one. And the box art on here is cool too!
Music from DS games are typically pretty epic.
Shrowser: *Roars in the start of this track*
RUclipsr: "The one thing that makes this tune legendary."
The only game where toads died... Paradise in a video game.
:3
