Anyone know how to switch from radio mode 1 to radio mode 2? Ours had the small glass tubes as a display. We accidentally bumped a button and now its radio mode 1. Cant find how to switch it. Thanks
Just found this video and it is great. I have a 2023 kia sportage x prestige and was wondering-can apple CarPlay be set up to automatically launch when the phone is connected?
I just got a Sportage ex 2023,no vacuum tube radio look. 😢 ugh. How do I get it back. Had a preowner for months. Now I'm in Kia Connect and still not old style look. Help!
You're welcome! A few years ago Hyundai (Kia's parent company) partnered with Tomtom for the EU but in North America it was HERE. It looks like there's a partnership with Google though for future vehicles
It's not.. only certain trim levels have it available as an option. You'd be looking at the Surround View Monitor which has different availability in Canada and the US
I just want this car but don't have the money right now. But im definitely buying one my wife loves it too. But i can't buy the gt line can't afford it. I can only buy advance pack hybrid which has harman 360cam and park assist some more stuff i don't remember everything. This media system is crazy just love it, this must be the best, responsive entertainment system out there so much options it's incredible. Ive tried from different car brands and this one is ahead of it's time. Tried Mercedes, BMW, Hyundai, VW and many more i tell you this one is definitely great design in apps and responsive and innovative totally. Can you actually watch a video movie through your phone on the display. I'm very new at Kia cars and sportage is the one we want. Very good video thumb up for the video it's very helpful so im ready when the time comes. Great 👍
Thanks Vladimir! Always a good idea to get behind the wheel of something in your budget! The build you're thinking of still sounds like it'll be pretty feature packed. There's no option from the factory to watch video on the screen... yet. I'm hoping CarPlay/AA give the option to watch when the vehicle is stopped though!
@@CarsWithSteve yes the pack is quite good im going to miss some feature from the gt line but i have to live with that othewise the car pack a hole lot for the money. Great informative video, will come in useful when my Sportage arrives next year. Was grinding my teeth at all the "Eck" Ceteras though. It's ET Cetera! 😄
Steve, I just enrolled in the Kia Connect Ultimate package via purchasing the new 2023 Sorrento Hyrbid, However I dont see the Data/Network icon in the setup menu. Do you know how to have it show up so I can have a Wifi hotspot
You need a data plan for WiFi Hotspots, the Kia Connect plans are more for Security, Alerts and Remote Start on the vehicle... I believe it's through Verizon in the US. You get 3 months of free service after signing up for it and then it's a paid subscription after that
thank you for this ! Getting my sportage next month. If i am using android auto, will the driver counsel (Where the speedometer is) show navigation prompts (Turn left in 2 miles etc) if i am using google maps or waze? I noticed the stock navigation had this feature but I'm curious if the third party apps extend over to the second display.
You're welcome! I wish that navigation from android auto or CarPlay would follow into the cluster.. No manufacturer I've reviewed so far has had that available
Just picked up my 2023 KIa Sportage EX hybrid and the phone favorite button is not an option. The contact, last call, mail option all display but not the favorites (which I use all the time).Any thoughts?
Only thing I can think of for you to try is a fix for some other models. Go to the phone contacts list on the media screen when you're connected over bluetooth. Click on the contact and then press the star if there's one showing which should save it as a favorite. If that star option isn't showing the version of the screen your on doesn't support phone favorites. Contact Kia directly if that's the case and tell them it's a feature you want added back in
thank you. i tried to select the contact and it does not give me the option to make it a favorite either I have the EV Hybrid model and am so frustrated it is not a feature. Also no homelink in my car. I am going to have to pay to put it in, @@CarsWithSteve
Looks like the software update pulled that out.. that sucks! Only work around you could do is to duplicate and then number your favourite contacts so they show up first.. So it would be 1 Sally, 2 Amanda etc
thank you thats a good idea have you heard they pulled it out? The dealership is claiming it is still an option an d is going to look at it his week . also not happy homelink rearview mirror is not in the EV model. I am paying to have it put in @@CarsWithSteve
Does anyone know how to swap what's in each split screen? Specifically I would like Apple car play on the main screen with the map on the small side screen. I swear I had it like that once, but now it's always the reverse. The map is in the main space and the car play is in the small side space. Maybe an update changed it?? Thxs
When you've got Apple CarPlay active it should be the primary screen on the left. When your phone is connected through CarPlay are you going through the Home --> Apple CarPlay to launch into it?
I have an Android phone and my wife has an Apple iPhone, providing us with both Android Auto and Apple Car Play options. From just a navigation point of view, are there any benefits to phone based navigation as opposed to the built-in KIA navigation software? We travel from Canada to the U.S. quite often, where KIA Navi would be free, and the phone based navigation would incur roaming cellular data charges. The other advantage of KIA Navi is that I don't have to plug in the phone to the USB port and would just place it on the wireless charging shelf.
Benefit of the phone nav, especially on CarPlay, would be using Waze for live traffic, police presence etc. I'd use CarPlay or AA in Canada and then flip to factory nav when roaming if you don't have a travel data plan
Steve, fantastic video now that I own the car. Major issue I am encountering...perhaps someone can help. Two drivers in the house. Both iPhones connected to the Sportage PHEV SX via bluetooth, each on its designated user profile. Once the car is shut off, and then when you come back to start the car again, the phones dont automatically re-establish the bluetooth connection. You have to go into device connections, and then on the iphone press the Kia in bluetooth and press the phone on the screen menu in the car. I know it shouldnt have to be that way. What is going on here? How can i get each iphone to simply automatically re-establish bluetooth connectivy once back into the car each time?
Thanks Dave! This screen doesn't have a designated area for enabling or disabling auto connection - it should auto connect based on which phone is set to have connection priority. The only thing I could recommend to try here is to delete the phone from the vehicle and the vehicle from the phone and try to reconnect
Makes sense.. it's the X Pro Prestige (1 trim level up from yours) that would have the blind spot camera. Unfortunately no easy way to add it aftermarket
Ah the weird bug in Kia and Hyundai media screens.. 1. Launch CarPlay and set up your navigation 2. Use the Media button under the screen and then select your satellite radio station 3. Jump back into CarPlay and you should be good to go!
Thank you for this video. I have a Kia Sportage 2022, and I was able to change the language from Korean to English. I attempted to download the update from the official website using flash memory but I received a notice that it was not supported. whereas the map and the navigation still display a map of Korea. Is there a way to change the map to show the city where I live?
You're welcome! You can try resetting the screen to see if that fixes the GPS location.. hold down the FM and map buttons at the same time for 20 - 25 seconds. The screen should turn off and then come back on again
I purchased a SX Prestige the other day. I love ALL the cool features. But I’m looking for one specifically that my last 2 cars had. When listening to the radio or satellite radio, if a song is playing which I want to add as a specific favorite, how do I do that? This feature will let me know if that song is playing on a different station than what I’m currently listening to. I hope this car has it as it’s one of my favorite features. Thank you.
That's great Rosa, glad you're enjoying it! For regular radio, there is no option to save the artist or song and normally you'd have that option in SiriusXM. It doesn't look like I covered it off in this video. I'll have to check it out next time I'm in a Sportage! One thing you could try though.. on SiriusXM, when a song or artist comes on that you enjoy, press the three line icon on the top of the screen to see if a Save Song/Artist prompt is there
@@CarsWithSteve I tried what you selected however the functions, when selecting the 3 lines were about presets and channels, not individual songs or artists. I just assumed all new cars came with this feature but it appears I was wrong.
@@CarsWithSteve Ok, but I don't think it exists. One more question, is there a full size screen available when listening to satellite or the radio where the entire name of the song/ artist is displayed? Currently, only a portion of each is displayed.
You need to be connected over USB for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. If you're just listening to music or need it for phone calls you can connect over bluetooth
Does anyone know how to turn off the audio that alerts you of the upcoming speed cameras. I have been to the KIA dealership and no one knows how to fix it. It is really annoying and doesn't stop.
@@jaspreetsinghb I'm really surprised by the fantastic experience. I have had Mercedes-Benz as a company car.. 2 years ago. This car as good as Mercedes-Benz. Enyoy your new car 😀
Hey Steve. First of all congrats. Excellent video. Just a question. For Kia Sportage 2022 the wireless Apple Carplay I think is not available as a factory option but there is a way to do it or fix it or it's impossible? Thank you :)
Thanks Alexandre, appreciate that! There's no option to add wireless CarPlay or Android Auto that I know of... There are a few aftermarket usb devices that mirror screens but haven't tried one on this screen yet
Is anyone able to confirm - can this top trim with the larger screen, stream audio via bluetooth if you choose not to hardwire connect your phone (to carplay)? As in, not using carplay but still stream bluetooth audio?
Does big screen directly in front of driver (dash) do any view other than data, speedometer, tach, fuel level. Etc. Would be great to have map in dash, but heads up display may suffice, if option . Map in dash is on new volvo xc60
Not too much to the cluster screen unfortunately - I've got that walkthrough video coming out next weekend! I've always liked the map in dash feature that cars offer and hopefully it's added in future builds
@@CarsWithSteve Hi Steve, thanks for letting me know that I must change the device name on my phone. I Googled "how to do it" and have now changed the name. I wanted to use my nickname rather than my given name. Your advice is much appreciated.
The LX? If it's the entry level model that should come with the smaller 8" screen and not this larger one. The smaller screens support wireless CarPlay and Android Auto
good question.. It should be there but when I have a chance to get behind the wheel of a Sportage Hybrid I'll have a look and see if it's laid out differently
Thanks Mazanur! Kia Connect can let you do things like: - remote start - lock/unlock doors - set climate all through your phone. You need an active Kia Connect subscription to do it but it's a great feature. Easiest way to find it for your country is to hop on google - Kia Connect "country"
I prefer the Kia navigation screen over Google Maps however if I need to speak directions to Kia, I’m NEVER understood. I thought the newest update fixed that but it didn’t. I called Kia Connect; the representative heard me loud and clear. Is there a microphone that I need to “direct” my voice into? I might have to wait until my first oil change to get my dealership to check it out.
I find that voice assistant for nav can be hit and miss for specific addresses but is great for point of interest spots. Speaking really slowly and clearly seems to help. If it's to the same addresses it's probably a good idea to set it up as a favorite address!
Check the Kia update webpage. The May 2022 update (for Australia) gave full screen AA. It still however does a 1/3 split with a second App running E.g. Waze in 2/3 and music App in the other 1/3
@@tarquinfintin6232 I was in a car a few weeks ago and noticed that split screen. Still not as nice as full screen map would be but at least it's functional space now!
That's a pretty odd issue. One workaround if you aren't using CarPlay and just use AirPods for phone calls would be to disable the phone connection Setup --> Device Connections --> Device Connections Toggle off the phone connection and make sure audio is highlighed If you are using CarPlay.. I'd have to see if there's a workaround the next time I'm in a Sportage
I really don't like the active braking. I turned it off. Also, the idle stop and go that turns the engine off when you are at a standstill. It cannot be disabled permanently. It comes on by default when the car is started. Otherwise I love my new vehicle.
I used to keep most of the driving safety tech on as well but I'm finding the sensitivity of it is starting to drive me nuts in the cars I've been reviewing recently. Turned that off! It's unfortunate that most manufacturers don't allow you to permanently disable that start/stop feature - definitely not just a Kia thing. What trim level did you end up going for?
Very comprehensive video , unfortunately commentary done so fast almost impossible to keep track. Perhaps limited by time but would suggest if possible to slow down
And here I thought I was speaking slower than usual haha. Try changing the playback speed to 0.75x but I'll see if I can slow er down a bit more in the next videos I shoot
There is a lot to it for sure but the big ones most people need to know are connecting a phone, operating the radio and then navigation. The added tech is neat but unnecessary for some.
The sales people always connect the phone for you. This is my third Kia in 4 years so that's never a problem. Truthfully, the navigation from Google Maps is far superior and easier to use. I might just project it onto the screen. Is that possible?
You can use Android auto or Apple CarPlay, which are covered in this video on how to connect! The maps can be shown on this infotainment system but cannot be mirrored in the steering wheel cluster screen

If people didn't knew Hyunday bought KIA so that's why you're getting same warranty of Hyunday 10 years factory warranty in KIA.
And thank you for using Samsung Galaxy phone too.
Good catch on the small details and glad you found the video helpful. Have to say.. I really did enjoy Squid Game and Parasite ;)
Does the navigation system give speed camera alerts ?
I haven't seen notifications for speed cameras in the ones that I've reviewed but if yours has it, the feature would be under alerts. The Kia Connect app would let you enable/disable it under User Profile --> Navigation Settings --> Alerts --> Camera Alerts
To use the carplay can I plug into another USB drive or does it only recognize the USB below the dash?
If it has the USB data icon then you're good to go but I believe all the other USB ports are charge only
Anyone know how to switch from radio mode 1 to radio mode 2? Ours had the small glass tubes as a display. We accidentally bumped a button and now its radio mode 1.
Cant find how to switch it.
Thanks
If you go to the radio page and then hit the 3 line button on the top of the screen on the left is there an option there to change it?
The cameras on these cars dobt record the footage right? Plann6on getting the kia sorento phev 2022 but i cant find if it records footage or not.
I wish they could! Camera recording isn't available yet..
Great presentation, I learned so much. But I have a question about navigation updates. Are updates available online for free or fee?
Thanks Andre! Map updates are available free if you do it yourself but bringing it in for a dealer update would incur a cost
Just found this video and it is great. I have a 2023 kia sportage x prestige and was wondering-can apple CarPlay be set up to automatically launch when the phone is connected?
Thanks Robert! No way to autolaunch that I've been able to find.. you have to manually select it after you plug back in
@@CarsWithSteve ok. thanks
I just got a Sportage ex 2023,no vacuum tube radio look. 😢 ugh. How do I get it back. Had a preowner for months. Now I'm in Kia Connect and still not old style look. Help!
Some of the newer models had an interface update that got rid of the tube look. Haven't found a way to get it back yet
Great review, thanks!! Are the integrated Kia maps TomTom maps?
You're welcome! A few years ago Hyundai (Kia's parent company) partnered with Tomtom for the EU but in North America it was HERE. It looks like there's a partnership with Google though for future vehicles
Is the monitor for lane assistance and the back up camera showing a 360 view available in all models?
It's not.. only certain trim levels have it available as an option.
We are tall family and the car is spacious has plenty of room well plenty is a bit exaggerated but there is room for us with ease. For the video i hope in the future. Thank you for info.
@@FromMeToYou77 I've always been surprised at all the tech that Kia vehicles have too! Glad the video helped!
Great informative video, will come in useful when my Sportage arrives next year. Was grinding my teeth at all the "Eck" Ceteras though. It's ET Cetera! 😄
Lol so many of them

@@CarsWithSteve only the ones using Google based built-in systems, like Volvo XC40 or Renault Megane E-Tech.
Where are the vehicle settings? I cannot find them on my 2024 LX
The Sportage LX has a smaller 8" screen and not this larger one.. check out that walkthrough here --> ruclips.net/video/moLKNv-fbZE/видео.html

Why does the Bluetooth turn off when you plug in iphone car play as when someone calls it goes to phone and not car, any suggestions
CarPlay and Android Auto actually use a wifi connection with the car and you can't have an active bluetooth signal to it at the same time
Well done. Excellent video, now I’m totally confused..LOL
HAHA, so many things to learn about it. Let me know if you have any questions!
Just picked up my 2023 KIa Sportage EX hybrid and the phone favorite button is not an option. The contact, last call, mail option all display but not the favorites (which I use all the time).Any thoughts?
and I used Bluetooth to connect my iPhone. Call history and contacts showed up but not the favorites.
Can I change the navigation directions to be read from the top to bottom instead of the bottom to the top.
Don’t believe so.. customization on these screens is a bit limited
What trim does the surround view start at? I just got the HEV Sportage LX
On the hybrid side, the surround view monitor is only available in the SX trim levels in Canada and the US
Can apple carplay be wireless on the sportage 2023 or does it have to be plugged in with a cord?
The 8" screen in the base model has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, otherwise it's a wired connection
Brillient very imformative
Thanks Michael!
Can you have your google/apple maps in your instrument cluster?
If only! Nah, Kia and Hyundai haven't opened that up yet
How can I put XM weather map over layed onto the MAP?
@@CarsWithSteve Thanks.

I have a 2023 kia sportage sx prestige model but mine does not have the rear warmer. Is it different from what you used for the video?
Heated 2nd row seats are a Canada exclusive in some of the higher trim levels
So my X pro doesn’t have the camera reverse settings or the blind spot camera when you signal
Makes sense.. it's the X Pro Prestige (1 trim level up from yours) that would have the blind spot camera. Unfortunately no easy way to add it aftermarket
Hi Steve, is there a way to listen to Satellite radio and also use apple car play for navigation?
Ah the weird bug in Kia and Hyundai media screens..
1. Launch CarPlay and set up your navigation
2. Use the Media button under the screen and then select your satellite radio station
3. Jump back into CarPlay
and you should be good to go!
@@CarsWithSteve thanks!!

Warm fireplace sound: sounds like the car's on fire. Nice.
HAHA, I'd be wary about that in some cars right now
Great video thanks
You're welcome!
Thx for making a video.
You're welcome!
@@BoTime Yeah it's normally an option so it's odd it's not here. Should be in a Kia next week so I'll have a look!
@@CarsWithSteve Ok, but I don't think it exists. One more question, is there a full size screen available when listening to satellite or the radio where the entire name of the song/ artist is displayed? Currently, only a portion of each is displayed.
Do you have to plug in the phone to connect music and things to it?
You need to be connected over USB for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. If you're just listening to music or need it for phone calls you can connect over bluetooth
Does anyone know how to turn off the audio that alerts you of the upcoming speed cameras. I have been to the KIA dealership and no one knows how to fix it. It is really annoying and doesn't stop.
this has been killing me i dont think there is a away to stop it
How do you reset the radio to show the old school "radio tubes" instead of album covers? I can't find info. anywhere!

Two things that you can try...
1. Turn up the volume in the vehicle using the volume knob
2. Turn up the volume on your phone

How can you switch mph to ride and rpm to left on the cluster ?
Is anyone able to confirm - can this top trim with the larger screen, stream audio via bluetooth if you choose not to hardwire connect your phone (to carplay)? As in, not using carplay but still stream bluetooth audio?
Yes it can! It's just USB connection for CarPlay and Android Auto. You'd be able to make phone calls and stream music over bluetooth no problem

Has the AA split screen bug been fixed yet? i still cant turn it off.
I wish! Still only split screen as an option. Waiting for a fix because the bug is affecting multiple manufacturers
Check the Kia update webpage. The May 2022 update (for Australia) gave full screen AA. It still however does a 1/3 split with a second App running E.g. Waze in 2/3 and music App in the other 1/3

Good afternoon. Can you explain to me why I can’t listen to the radio when Im on the phone with my AirPods ?
That's a pretty odd issue. One workaround if you aren't using CarPlay and just use AirPods for phone calls would be to disable the phone connection
Setup --> Device Connections --> Device Connections
Toggle off the phone connection and make sure audio is highlighed

peoblem is, most of the soddin option reset when switched off like lane assist etc, its shite....option should stay until changed.
Would be useful if some of those settings stayed on for sure
I really don't like the active braking. I turned it off.
Also, the idle stop and go that turns the engine off when you are at a standstill. It cannot be disabled permanently. It comes on by default when the car is started. Otherwise I love my new vehicle.
I used to keep most of the driving safety tech on as well but I'm finding the sensitivity of it is starting to drive me nuts in the cars I've been reviewing recently. Turned that off! It's unfortunate that most manufacturers don't allow you to permanently disable that start/stop feature - definitely not just a Kia thing. What trim level did you end up going for?
Its very tasty video
Thanks 🙏
wonder why it is not wireless?
That is a great question
Very comprehensive video , unfortunately commentary done so fast almost impossible to keep track. Perhaps limited by time but would suggest if possible to slow down
And here I thought I was speaking slower than usual haha. Try changing the playback speed to 0.75x but I'll see if I can slow er down a bit more in the next videos I shoot
I just bought a top of the line Sportage several days ago. Maybe it's my age showing but this is simply too much.
