Akane, the drummer from Band-maid, said that Nao has been an inspiration for becoming a female drummer that can hit the drums as hard as a male one. I just think it's nice seeing people from older bands I love inspiring newer bands I love.

same story, i used to know their "what's up people" song from deathnote back then when i was in elementary school. then jump into pandemic era, when i start watching record of ragnarok intro my reaction was like "okay, some metal song for this kind of anime, pretty good...wait a sec, is this MTH?" lol. idk why i can notice if its their song by just hearing it, even tho i only know 1 of their song. then i start listening some of their albums till today, and i still don't know their lyrics

May be one of my favorite RUclips videos ever. Really surprised that this has under 2k views…
As a 16 year old girl who is absolutely obsessed with this band, this helped me learn a lot more about them! ^_^ And I find it so hard to befriend other MTH fans, usually because they’re two times my age lol. Discovered them 10 months ago and is now never getting tired of their songs. And if a boy near my age ever tells me they like MTH too, that’s an instant crush lmao.😂
I love this band so much I’ve played a LOT of their songs on the piano by ear.
Here are some songs I did (Mostly choruses or main tunes):
Chu Chu Lovely Muni Muni Mura Mura Purin Purin Boron Nururu Rero Rero (most played, + full song memorized)
    Koi no Mega Lover
    Koi no Sweet Kusomeriken
    Utsukushikihitobitonouta
    Koino Kinako Watashini Kudasai
    Yoshu Fukushu
    Chu Ni The Beam
    Koino Sperm
    Maximum the 21 Seiki
    Heisei Strawberry Vibe
    Kawakita Saurin
    Shiina de Bus
    Nigireeeeee
    RRERERERERE MAMAMAMAMA
    Mr Boogie TumblingMan
    Rock n Roll Chainsaw
    Buikakkesu
    Kamigami
    Kill all the 394
    Purple Fire Tail
    FORCE
    My Girl
More ahead ..! I really hope one day I get to play these in front of someone who is also as obsessed with the band as I am..!

Great Video! MTH is my favorit Punk Band of all time. I saw them live last year in Köln (Germany), it was the best live show I ever went to. they sound live even better!
I would say the hardest part of beeing a mth fan in the west is, getting official merch. the shop is in japanese and if you find a translation they dont ship to europe. and all the other stuff on the internet is either cheap knock-off merch or way to overpriced.
that's why the merch on the concert was already sold out even before the show started. ...I sadly didn't get one, and they even had special shirts only for germany that you couldn't get online. :(
but I hope it doesn't take another 11 years until they tour here again.

Im a 日系四世 from Brazil and I got to know this band thru Death Note like everybody else... 2 years ago I started to study Japanese because of my ancestry, anime, and this band (and people always used to tell me that I looked like a little japanese kid when I was growing up, and I never felt that like an insult, it just made me more curious about this country that is in the other side of the world)! I am quite thankful for piracy and dedicated fans who make their discography available worldwide since, without that, many hits would never reach outside Japan, streaming services are quite sparse!

12:37 that song wasn't old footage of them playing on a field, I think if I remember correctly that was a troll song they made, basically after Nao got pregnant and Daisuke doing surgery and they went in hiatus many fans thought that the band will change and they won't stay as crazy as they were and so they just went along with it and in the music video they released it starts with this "family friendly" song of them looking liking all nice and wise and then it cuts to Ryo vomiting on the screen before the song "maximum the hormone" starts

Great video and I appreciate the passion and love put into it! It's a good intro for those not familiar with the band. But, I have to be a pedantic mf and give some small corrections:
    - "Hou' is considered an EP or a mini-album. no biggie
    - 6:07 - It's not pronounced 'Nigire Tsu tsu'. I get why you say it like that, because there are a lot of incorrect romanizations of the title online. It's pronounced "Nigireee----!!" with like an emphasis on the end, easy mistake to make
    - 9:15 - The second season of Death Note actually aired in 2007, so What's Up People was already out two years before it, and one year before the anime even started. I find that fact interesting personally. I think the label chose an existing song they think fit the anime, and then the song Zetsubou Billy was the new one made specifically for Death Note
    - 9:28 - the anime Akagi is just called Akagi, not 'Akagi no Kill', I think you got that mixed up with the much different and much newer anime 'Akame ga Kill' haha.
Also fun fact, the title of the EP 'Zawa.. Zawa...' is a reference to the author of Akagi and Kaiji's famous onomatopoeia of the same name he uses in his manga, and it's even in the anime for Kaiji. I guess that was their 'Akagi EP' if that makes sense
Again, no hate, I just saw some stuff I wanted to say! Good video, especially for your first time!!

I really love your videos, especially your editing style!
I came across MTH in a random youtube video about 6 months ago and I've been a fan ever since. I rarely listen to metal so I was puzzled as to what made me love them so much. I think you formulated it perfectly: their sound is super raw, but they still have something catchy/almost funny to them. Also the melodies and riffs are not something you would usually hear in rock or metal, and the fast rapping/singing somehow works really well in Japanese lol.
Anywho, keep making videos! Big up from the Netherlands :D
Bonus question: do you know who the person is on the cover of Bu ikikaesu?

i appreciate that a lot, thanks! the credited model for bu-ikikaesu is FANNITA, who modeled under Satoru Japan Inc. i can't find much else about her and could only find a couple pics of her online, she was only with that agency for a short time. hope that helps!

Most of their newer albums are on Spotify, but the early stuff isn't. If you want to hear their whole library, you would need to find CD's. This is what sucks about being a fan of Japanese Bands in general. Most of their stuff is hard to find. And buying cd's from Japan can be very expensive.

Dawg MTH is my favorite Japanese bands. If I say that my favorite opening is death note opening 2 ( which it is) ppl just hate on it. They are underrated in the west. I insanity and I love it. Especially the what’s up people part when things go insane, best part in the song by far.

It was great to discover them during 2007 Death Note craze. Wouldn't think that a Japanese Metal band would gain so much traction internationally. Of course, Death Note was a huge catapult of fame for them. But back then you would think that the audience would prefer that first band that did the opening (can't remember their name now). They were a Visual Kei band, which was much attractive for female audience (when there's female audience, there are big numbers). That audience being the 2006-2010 Anime/Emo/Goth crowd with J-Rock nicely mixed into it (Eastern European point of view). But anyway, it was effeminately attractive rock boys VS freaky random metal bunch. And the latter one won! How about that?
Nice work putting up the vid, Christian. I'm not currently a follower of the band, they were a phase for me during Buikikaessu era, killer album. Those first 2 video gigs were totally enjoable as well. But anyway, couldn't get past an MTH documentary from the perspective of a western fan.
And 666th like from me, which is a totally useless fact.

I've loved this band since I saw Death Note when it was airing in Japan during one of my vacations there. I couldn't find their CDs in stores her in NYC, so I DL'd a mess of tracks and gave up trying to understand the lyrics almost instantly. I've been following their RUclips channel since 2015 (?) and I'm trying to figure out how to catch them Live when I go back to Japan in March 2024... They're the best thing since Judy and Mary for me...
