I like to think that Michael is only confident around Jeremy, that’s why he always zones out and wears his headphones around others. Jeremy is his comfort person, he feels like he can be free to be himself around him. It’s like when you’re on your own, you’re goofy and confident, but that goes away when you’re around people. Jeremy is like his other half, there’s no reason to be scared around him. Which is why Michael In The Bathroom happens, because he no longer has his friend, and he’s surrounded by people he’s not comfortable with, hence ‘teenage battle zone’.

More than survive is probably one of the best opening numbers in a musical I’ve ever heard, it’s catchy, it gives you a good dynamic of the characters, and the actors are just on point with the singing. 7:44 when he hits that note it gets me every time Will Connolly is amazing

I just love the way you do Micheal and Jeremy's little interactions with each other. Some people make it too romantic, while you show their true friendship with how well the work together with a little spark. Especially the boyf part with their heads tilting, I found that little detail adorable.

Michael maybe even more than Jeremy, and I won’t spoil too much of the story, but because Jeremy leaves Michael (deserted him) at a party to seem more cool while hanging out with Brooke, Chloe, and Christine and leaves his friend in the bathroom crying and having a panic attack because he thinks he’s being replaced. So, you see, that’s why I always think it’s Michael’s story as much as it is Jeremy.

The sequence of Jeremy going through the halls and bumping into every major character (at 7:55 and 8:22 til that point forward) really gives me intro to coming of age, highschool series vibes and it's fluid while showing Jeremy's relationship with each character and ughhhhhh I really love this animatic because of the fluidity and expressions!

Because animatics are usually made as a basis for the final animation (like moving storyboards), the effort put into this one (and all the ones you do) make me really want to see them animated , like disney level. Everything from the poses, facial expressions and direction are just spot on perfect. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us in the future.
I agree 200%, the skill in character drawing and animating both in these animatics is probably among the best i've seen on youtube.

Because of all the detail, plus I'm assuming this isn't the only thing she's drawing, it takes her quite a while. Keep in mind she also storyboards the dialogues.

What I loved about this was that you really captured Jeremy’s kind of cocky, sardonic nature. I really think this is probably the best animatic of this song!

The Michael in the bathroom leitmotif is the melody that he sings at the beginning of the chorus ("michael in the bathroom, michael in the bathroom..."). If you listen very closely or look at a music sheet, you can see it plays right as they start talking about progress

I like how you had Brooke and Jeremy blush at each other, showing how she already thought he was cute. Great job with the whole thing. You're versions of the characters are cemented in my head of how I imagine them.

Jeremy checking himself out in the mirror and Mr. Heere walking in on him, which is why Jeremy says “Haven’t you heard of privacy?” (instead of his bedroom, which I think it is in the musical?), the humiliation sheet, Jeremy missing the bus (I thiiiink that happened in the book, but I can’t remember), Michael’s spiral cord headphones, and I’m not sure what else. But I love them!
