I was there!!! I had been partying for 3 days straight and heard Ozzy was coming on next. I finally decided to take a nap because I was angry he had left Black Sabbath. I didn't hear what he was sayin but heard the first guitar lick of Iron Man and was up screaming for the rest of the day. US 83 was one of the best concert experiences out of my somewhere around 50 live shows.

Dude. That was the Jake E Lee era, by that point he had put out a small handful of solo albums. If that was in 1983, he had already been away from Black Sabbath for damn near 5 years. I get that you were bummed out about that but you made it sound like it was still fresh. It was OLD NEWS, Randy, Bernie and Brad had already came and went, or maybe you just simply forgot about them. Believe me, around that time, very little was said about, and people pretty much forgot about Black Sabbath. I'm just wondering how you got lost in your time frame. Or if you were really, in fact, at that particular show in the first place.

    Intro]
    I am Iron Man!
    [Verse 1]
    Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
    Can he walk at all
Or if he moves will he fall?
    [Verse 2]
    Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
    We'll just pass him there
    Why should we even care?
    [Verse 3]
    He was turned to steel
    In the great magnetic field
    When he traveled time
    For the future of mankind
    [Chorus]
    Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
    Planning his vengeance
    That he will soon unfurl
    [Verse 4]
    Now, the time is here
For Iron Man to spread fear
    Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved
    [Chorus]
    Nobody wants him
    They just turn their heads
    Nobody helps him
    Now, he has his revenge
    [Guitar Solo]
    [Verse 5]
    Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
    Iron man lives once again!

I lived in Ft. Lauderdale in 1982. I bought the new album and the Ozzie ticket for the Hollywood Sportatorium (No, not hollywood california). Then they announced that the concert was cancelled cause Ozzie had laryngitis. Ok got my money back.
Later, I bought the ticket again and everyone was hyped. Then, tragedy. The guitarrist was killed on a small plane going to Ft. Lauderdale.
This video is the first time I see Ozzy in a concert. (Haven't seen it all) I thought it was gonna be all bathead biting and blood but I'm surprised at his cool vibe. "I love you" he said. Well Ozzie, we hope you're doing well and I send you my blessings.
And you can put THAT in your Diary of a Madman.

I was absolutely wasted that day, but somehow I remember it all! Earlier in the day, the concert staff repeatedly told us we had to move back because people were getting crushed up front. No one moved. We became more rowdy and restless. Then Ozzy came out and said, "You have to move back," and as if we were a single person, the entire crowd of 250k or whatever moved back. Even as a teenaged stoner I thought, "That's awesome, but that's too much power for one man to have!" It's hard to explain to younger folks, but in those days Ozzy was the man.

Before that, I’d only listened to music on the radio in the car with my family, not knowing who the artists were or what type of music it was. AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Journey, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, so many bands that will always hold a special place in my heart for that reason. It’s been years since I’ve listened to this song, but it still makes me feel the same. Such a wonderful piece of music. So many Black Sabbath songs. And the live recordings… great stuff.
