Well, more like because of American copyright laws. American laws are weird for other countries because we require active litigation to maintain trademark and copyright, so you aren't allowed to tolerate any infringement... except for satire and parody, which is super protected here and not in Japan. Japanese companies meanwhile... well I can tell you Game Freak and Nintendo are aware people are drawing Misty doing nasty shit with Pikachu and selling it on the side, they just don't pursue it. In doujin circles there's a bit of a gentlemen's agreement to not need permission to make "fanwork" but to squash it if the holder ever says no. In the States ever since we loosened the fuck up we don't have to rely on Tijuana Bibles to see Goofy fucking Minnie Mouse, porn is de facto satire and parody thus inherently copyright. Lesson of the story: if you want to protect yourself from getting sued, give your pokemon big tiddies.

Remember, if they had a case they would’ve already ran that fade
A) because they’re one of the most litigious
B) because of Japans copyright laws
It was publicly in development for years, with the trailer coming out last year. I'm pretty sure Nintendo would have shot it down if the case was strong. They've sniped fans for doing far less. A paraphrased from a wise developer, PirateSoftware.
Yeah, Nintendo had three years to make a case, only for nothing to fall through. Like seriously, the only thing they stopped was the modder trying to input Pokemon models onto Palworld models and that was it, nothing about Palworld itself.
yeah the gaming media is spreading misinformation not getting the full context about the mod nintendo was on that case immediately lol @@strategist40k86
Every single person who plays this game calls 3/4 of the “pals” by their pokemon name 😂 why would they sue an indie dev when the dev wouldn’t even have any money to pay them? We’ll see now that they’re cashing in

“Because I know that deep down in my heart, I still love you 😢”
Seriously, Pokemon needs the competition. Game Freak has gone to crap, the Pokemon Fans are trapped in their comfort blankets and nothing will change unless someone can steal sales away from them. Palworld shows a true open world Pokemon game with decent quality can be possible, if they put forth the effort and didn't constrain themselves to a BS release schedule no one cares about.
competition breeds inovation, when corporations consilidate everything they get complacent
When you put it in that perspective, I might switch over to Palworld until Pokemon gets their sh*t straight
Facts
It's insane to me how many people feel the same as you. The last few Pokemon games have been some of the best. I've loved the stories.
1. If we can wait until 2025 for gta6 we can wait a couple years for a quality pokemon game😅.
2. This sh$t should not be giving them any sort of competition tho. It is blatant plagiarism. The fact that we live in a world where plagiarism can actually “rival” the source material id crazy.
This palworld debate is literally going to be able to decide whether or not we could all be sued for drawing Pizza cars when we were 5.
There's a debate!? Didn't know, was distracted playing this new game
No it wouldn't. Drawing pictures as a kid is not the same as a company profiting off of another company's character likeness.
@@ArianaRosalia neither is palworld. Unless they took Pikachu and used him as a character in there game, everything in palworld is not copyright but in fact original ideas. They may have used Pokemon as inspiration, but that's fine. You're allowed to do that. It's sickening how I'm not allowed to make my own ideas because some company has intellectual property rights to basic imagination
@@willoweable You're missing the point of what I was saying though. My comment was about a kid drawing pictures versus using the likeness of existing properties for profit. I never said how much I agree or disagree.
I don't play Palworld due to it having guns and encouraging "stealing" pals, the latter of which I've read elsewhere. There are too many games with guns. If Palworld had heart and soul like the Pokemon games, I would of given it a try. The only pals I know of are ones seen in images, whether advertisements or other sources like video thumbnails, none of which looked like Pokemon to me. It's hard to tell for the ones in this video.
@@ArianaRosalia your comment is just nitpicky. The point I was making is that intellectual property is stupid because if I can paint stop signs red and so can you then it isn't infringement of your intellectual rights. Palworld or Pizza cars are the same. We all learned about cars and pizza as kids. But it's only as an adult that you realize you were "stealing" other kids ideas because your imagination and theirs are the same or coincide....it's ridiculous
The way he sat there and spoke more logic with his hands than the word soup vomiting out 🤣

I went from Pokémon Fire Red to Palworld. Gameplay is different as hell besides capturing these creatures with a sphere like object. One of my pals jumps on my head and pulls out an SMG while I attack as well lol.
That's two completely different genres, tho? Try going from Legends of Arceus to Palworld, and you'll see a much more clear connection. Lol
You're a person collecting pals, able to battle other people with pals in an arena. Some of these pals look mighty familiar and I haven't played Pokémon for like 15 years. Gyarados? They just made him red. Blastoise is now a rock type but they even kept the toise part in the name. They made it into a survival/building game and added Pokémon for you to catch them all
y'all are comparing pokémon to ark (they had a planned release to 2022 so legends arceus doesn't help much to prove a point)
@@cjerp it’s toise cuz it looks like a tortoise not a blastoise. Just look up dragon quest creatures and Pokémon. Theres similarities there as well. In Pokémon I can’t shoot an arrow or beat them with a spear last I checked. It was always the monsters doing the fighting. This game has more in common with ark than Pokémon lol
@@Apachito True. Just because I call it Pokémon don’t mean it’s not different enough than Pokémon itself 😂
