I guess you can just farm a ton of rot balls and eat them all the time, also finding a lot of golden seeds to have more flasks help. You can just run through the lake this way
@@grumd0 yeah, but farming is arduous in it's own way, and you would necessary have to go through some difficulties to get all the golden seeds. It's still impressive regardless.
You can just keep casting "Flame cleanse me" and turn all of your flasks into mana and get through the lake that way. The incantation gets rid of the build up and the rot infection if you've already gotten it
The fact that you killed Astel at RL1 faster than I did at RL220 makes this even more impressive. My kill was like 4 minutes because I wasn’t aiming for the head lol

@@PraiseChika I tend to be quite underleveled in these games but on my first play through where I was going for a large amount of completion I was level 160 by the end. Saying that I think your supposed to fight this boss at level 100 or so.
There is something so poetic about the first few moments. Just a man in a loincloth running to bonk an actual god in the face with a club. It sounds so futile and yet man with club prevails again over a god. As hilarious as it is awesome.

I killed that Caelid bell bearing guy last night with the help of your video. I've always been horrible at parry timings, but watching all your content gave me the motivation to try and I got it! I used the Whirlwind parry art of War and it took me about 7-8 tries before I finally did it without even taking a hit and pummeling him down. You're the best Ongbal, seeing you wreck these ultra baddies with just skill just makes me amped to try it myself! (but with much more armor lmao.)

Not to detract from ongbals skill, dudes a god, but this attack can be rolled relatively consistently if you have the timing down well mentally. The hitbox lingers for a very short amount of time, so as long as you can get sort of close just purely off of memory and guessing when it'll go off it's not too bad to roll. I can pull it off about 80% of the time and I'm rather bad and haven't practiced the boss much

@@tubbybubbyy when you’re up close, it’s probably hard to watch his hands since they’re sometimes off screen (as this video shows). I found it easier to go by the clicking of his jaw. You can rewatch ongbal’s video as many times as you like to get the timing down on how many clicks of his jaw he does before attacking, which is a bit different on the way up and on the way down. It can easily be felt as a rhythm and is more generous than you think.
The other astel in the second half of the snow area is much more agressive and summons six of itself to grab you. Took me 2 hours to kill it. Ongbal try that one.
I've been helping people in Concecrated Snowfield with this over the last couple of weeks, and I see the six summon ability probably 5% of the times that I fight him.
Fun fact about these creatures: These are the monsters that brought scarlet rot with them from space thar infected Malenia as a "host", and the ones Radahn was trying to stop from coming to earth by conquering the stars.

This boss design is so unique. It seems they took some inspiration of the depictions of primordial angels in the bible (BE NOT AFRAID) + the angels from the Ringed City, they same a similar vibe and "Astel" feels like it's an angelic name.

Hey you probably won't see this but I recently beat rykard with shields only. If you plan on beating rykard with a club you can do first phase with just a club. Then you can beat his second phase with carian's retaliation on a shield, you can actually deflect the flaming skulls that fall from the sky in his second phase. With carian's retaliation it parries magic then shoots a glinstone phalanx. I bashed his face in with a shield the whole first phase so you could also do that with a club. You can hit him after his 2-3 bite attack and his lunge bite.
This man is a supernatural being, what an incredible match, congratulations, I gave up trying to destroy him, I've already wasted more than hours.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

if u'r down to use the physick, how about other consumables like exalted flesh/turtleneck, greatrunes/arcs, perfumes, greases and pots? Does that go against "no dmg"? And what about spells? (don't think you can use any without marika's soreseal, anyway...)
Again, no lock on. I'm going to start learning to do this with the larger bosses and see how much better off it goes when the camera isn't spazzing out trying to follow the movement of whatever twitchy appendage the lockon forces you to follow.

Before I typed in “ aster natural born hitless “ in the search bar , I was like no way ongbal would be doing this boss. But then I saw his video on top I was like “ man this guy is crazy good “.
Mild spoiler alert: Really hate the fact that they've reused this boss later on in the game. Lost any kind of significance after that IMO. I have no problems with fighting godskins, crucibles, erdtree sentinels etc. multiple times, but Astel's design gave me the impression that this would be a unique experience, so I was a bit disappointed. Would rather fight a burial tree watchdog gank than have this fight be copied.
Yeah that really surprised me. How does the lore even explain that away? And it's odd the hypothetical "legit" Astel is the easier of the two fights. I understand reuse for a game this large, but if they were going to do it for a Legendary boss fight, I would think the climax quest boss fight would be the more complete one moveset wise.
I'm 99% sure that it's an H.P. Lovecraft reference, in particular "The Mountain of Madness", you have a nearby ruin inhabited by people and creatures that have gone mad (different reason I know, but the status is called Madness you know). Then in this frigid snowy environment located near a mountain you have this man-made cave where you have enemies that teleport in through small singularities and a cosmic being that looks like it was ripped from a Lovecraft story as the boss, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the name of the tunnel was also a Lovecraft reference. However this fight, and its reuse are bosses that I absolutely despise all because of one attack, the teleporting insta-kill attack that is pure bullshit for being an insta-kill in a series not known for those unless you're doing a low-level run/RL1 or are on the nighter NG+ cycles. Not only that but it's a gamble if you even dodge it, let alone in the second fight with all of the copies.

astel probably sounds that way to you because of the hebrew suffix "-el": GabriEL, DaniEL, MichaEL, which roughly translates as "of god/god's".
