    Fun Fact#1: This 7-8 minute fight scene took 4 months to film, mainly cause Jackie and Ken Lo suffered numerous injuries during the scene and also wanted to do multiple takes to get every shot perfect.
    Fun Fact#2: Ken Lo is actually Jackie Chan's bodyguard in real life.
    Fun Fact#3: Ken Lo and Jackie Chan are badass.

      Jackie actually said himself he'd make the blood rush to his head by holding his upper body upside down, so that he would appear all red in the face and drunk for the scenes he was fighting "drunk". The "alcohol" was actually water with food coloring. As for the other 2 things, I'm curious if he really did sustain real burns and broken bones in this scene because apparently everyone in this scene did sustain a lot of injuries, which caused this one scene alone to take several months to finish.

    I like how jackie chan does his final fights different from other martial artists. In most films like ip man, or the various bruce lee flicks, when the hero gets serious, it fast turns into a stomp. He stops taking any but the lightest of hits and crushes his opponent. When jackie chan "gets serious" he just stops losing. Its still a full battle going on, its just now jackie chan has the advantage. And not an overwhelming one really, you can see all the damage he is taking during the fight even after he gets wasted. Honestly, I prefer that style where its an actual fight and not a beating.

      Yes to add to what you are saying. Bruce Lee's movements/strikes were for practicality and were applicable in real fights, both sport and street. Jackie's on the other hand would never work in a real fight. But Jackie ain't trying to prove and showcase fighting technique, Jackie is showcasing absolutely truly amazing stunts and acrobatics that we will never see again. A fighter will a skill set like Bruce Lee is once in a lifetime. Bruce is the Greatest Martial Artist Of All Time. Jackie is hands down the greatest Stuntman and Acrobats Artist of all time. Jackie was Bruce's number 1 go to stunt guy that he used in his films. Even Jackie said Bruce was the fastest he had ever seen.

      I'm agree with the fact of Hong Kong's art martial movies had the best fight scenes ever. And Jackie Chan is one of the best of all time. But, if you just stay in a Hollywoodian comparison, Matrix had great fight scenes too. This saga was inspired by movies like this and the dedication of Keanu Reeves was absolutly fantastic. He is also a pur martial artist too... even if never he will stand against a Jackie Chan or Donnie Yen.

    • @ryowhite3864
      @ryowhite3864 9 лет назад +31

      Ralph Palacio It was probably just water with a mix of food colorings. While drunken fist is the style of imitating a drunk martial artists, it's just an imitation of one. It would probably be very difficult for an actual drunk to fight. Not that drunken boxing is fake no it's just a style where you pretend to be drunk to deceive your opponent. And it's dangerous to drink alcohol, so gasoline is kind of a no brainer in that it is dangerous to swallow. And back to the martial arts, I would believe that even though the style is based off of a drunk martial artist, it would actually be even more difficult to do the style actually drunk than it probably would be to do one of the other styles as a drunk. In drunken fist, there is a lot of core work as you need to keep your balance at most times such as staggering and leaning back then shooting back up again. While I am practicing a bit on drunken boxing, I'm still kind of an amateur and this is just my opinion. So yeah I bet it's just food colored water.

      For my first few years of watching martial arts movies, I Bruce Lee was inferior to Bruce Lee for that very reason. Too simplistic, too one-sided. After I got a better eye for body-mechanics I realized Bruce Lee was a superior fighter and appreciated watching him more. Jackie Chan looks loose and sloppy to me now. But still more fun to watch.

      Heh ... this movie started out being directed by a legendary kung fu movie director. But when he and Jackie Chan disagreed on choreography, Jackie Chan fired him. The director wanted to apply drunken techniques realistically. In real fights they are just one-step reactions. Jackie Chan wanted to make the moves flow endlessly into each other. After he got fired, the director went on to direct his own drunken master movie that was titled Drunken Master III. It sucked, got forgotten quickly, and proved Jackie Chan correct in firing him.
