    🧘‍♀️ Releasing Sciatic Nerve Pain (Deep Gluteal Syndrome) 🧘‍♂️
    This video may have caught your attention because of the mentioning of the celebrity sciatic nerve - the nerve most people are familiar with for unfortunate reasons. All sciatic pain can be a hard stop for us from doing everyday activities, as it was for my husband Michael while on holiday. But there are different types of sciatic pain. True Sciatica is when there is a problem with the nerve somewhere in the lumbar spine. You most likely know if you have this because you will have a diagnosis of damage to the lumbar or sacral area.
    This video is helpful to release the sciatic nerve by working with the muscles involved in "Deep Gluteal Syndrome" (previously called Piriformis Syndrome). It can also be used for prevention if you tend to have overactive gluteal muscles. You will know you have this type of sciatic nerve pain as it is literally a pain in the butt! ! 🍑
    Deep Gluteal Syndrome involves various muscles in the buttocks such as the piriformis, obturator internus, quadratus femoris and gluteus medius, minimus and maximus. It can even feel like pelvic floor pain when it involves the levator ani, or coccygeus muscles. Whatever muscles are causing the sciatic nerve entrapment, the pain can travel down the leg, just like Sciatica. You will need a block, a blanket and a slow-mo ball if you have it (blanket can substitute if not).
    If you're unsure what is causing your sciatic pain, I explain the difference in the first 3 minutes of the video. If you want to skip the explanation, go to the 3-minute mark and begin to love up your sciatic with some nerve flossing. 💖🦵

    How wonderful to discover this Teacher who GETS IT! Yes, yes, yes, one side of my hip and the corresponding thigh have been on permanent vacation and now my right side has gone on strike from pure exhaustion after an uphill/downhill hike! Ohhhhh this is so helpful. THANK YOU MEGAN!

    This is great. This morning my left hip was quite painful and my usual routines just plain hurt. So I tried this one. Some of the exercises here sent lots of little red flags waving, but I just did very gentle versions of those. I still hobbled around for the first part of the morning, but then had an almost pain free day! Will do this again tomorrow.

    Another magical class. Thank you Megan 🙏🏼. Which class do you recommend I search under to get rid of knots & stuck fascia in the latissimus dorsi (right under scapula & armpit). Thank you so much!

      Thanks for asking. Let me think about if I have a specific video. But I would say any of the neck and shoulder videos would help with the "stickyness". And the ones that do myofascial at the end with ball between the shoulder blades really help. Maybe time for a new one?

    Spirit is so good. I have been struggling with my lower back from lifting too much. Yesterday I went to go after my dog who was chasing a chipmunk in my flowerbed and I hit an outdoor patio rug and went down on my knee and shoulder very hard. I woke up this morning and could barely sit from pain in my lower back and butt right side. I saw this and just loved myself and did it and I feel so much better. Thank you!

    Thanks, Megan! I’m so sorry to hear that Michael was in pain on your vacation. I had piriformus syndrome last year and know how tough it can be. Now my left glute is lazy and I also have trouble relaxing my glutes so this was lovely. ☺️
