Very interesting Brandon. Quite a while ago I came to the conclusion that Hell as it has been preached from Christian pulpits for many years is not the one found in the Bible. The standard narrative of Hell as a place of eternal torment with grinning demons torturing imperfect Christians and millions of others, all presided over by Satan on his throne . . . is absurd.

The ancient rabbis taught very little concerning an afterlife. The ancient Jews were never threatened with eternal unquenchable fire. In Daniel, we read a brief and unspecific teaching on an afterlife. An afterlife was something the Jews didn't concern themselves with.

Okay, so explain this . Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
    Revelation 20:15 NIV.
And explain this. “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
    Luke 16:22‭-‬24 NIV
Hell is very real, and very much why Jesus died. He didn't die to save us from ourselves. He died to save us from Hell. You can try and pick a verse here and verse there to make it mean what you want, but it doesn't fit the overall context of scripture.

Why would Jesus die to save us from a place God created? Jesus died to give us all the opportunity to obtain eternal life. Why would God create people just to torment them for eternity. Those not found in the lambs book of life will be destroyed in the lake of fire.

    • @ehdforlife
      @ehdforlife 10 месяцев назад +1

Because God didn't create hell for us. It was when man chose to sin, the human race was from that point in need of a savior. To save us from death. The second death, which is Hell. If there was no judgment for the evil we have done, then would God be a just God? So the serial killer, or the mass rapist would go into the afterlife without justice and just rest in peace, or go to Heaven? No, that would be fair. God will judge fairly. And the Bible says that all have sinned and all are deserving of death. We all deserve God's judgement. We have all lied, all stolen, all cheated, taken the Lord's name in vain. We have committed adultery (if only in our hearts.) We deserve the price for our sin, which is death. But, because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, we can have forgiveness of our sins, if we believe in Jesus and turn from our sins, confess with our mouth he is Lord and that God raised Jesus from the dead, we will be saved. Saved from Hell.

The lake of fire has been prepared for Satan and his demons. They are eternal beings.
WE, are not. We were created of the dust of the earth, to which we will return.
We were given (lended) God's breath of life, which goes back to God when we die.
For those who are not saved, the end is death... The SECOND DEATH. (read in Revelation)
For those who are saved, they are resurrected, changed, transformed, INCORRUPTIBLE (eternal).
As the angels, who do not die.

YOU ARE NOW GOING TO GO BACK TO BIBLE STUDIES AND TEACH THIS TO OTHERS
Your bible studies Literally come FROM YOU TUBE
But then when someone tells you religion is false
or the bible is not god's word YOU DON'T BELIEVE IT
      I wonder why !
and when we argue that the bible has been altered and changed
christians affirm solidly NO IT HASN'T
      well.. Yes it has...
You are going to do it
      He has already done it
tens of thousands have done it before you
Everyone thinks their version is right, although it's not
When will you guys understand common sense
      Be a christian , that's fine
      Love god, That's fine
But when will you come to understand the following
      1. You do not get ideas from you tube as to what to do for your eternity
      (that's really really dumb)
      2. The bible is clearly not god's word, this has been known now for a very long time, it's easy to prove and should more or less be common sense, since i have heart a few thousand christians admit it anyway.
but the biggest point is... to follow the bible (A word that is not god's own) IS TO LITERALLY COMMIT A MORTAL SIN AGAINST GOD
so you really have to wonder what the hell are christians doing
      They don't listen to atheist's
      They don't listen to christians
      They don't listen to christ
      They don't listen to god
      what they DO do is
      They listen to themselves
and whatever they want to believe
Maybe also take that on board for your bible study
      Maybe discuss the concept of...
      1. LET'S ESTABLISH AND RESEARCH IF THE BIBLE'S WE ARE READING ARE GOD'S ACTUAL WORDS
      2. IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE A CHRISTIAN WITHOUT THE CHURCH OR THE BIBLE.
      Spoiler Alert............. it Absolutely is
      3. If we were to do this, would it be a purer form of christianity

"THE MEANING" ??? of heaven and hell ?
that's like saying "Can you teach me the meaning of a truck? "
Problem 1 - You're not asking the right question, what are you trying to find out ?
Problem 2 - No one can accurately answer questions relating to heaven or hell as no one has been there and lived to tell and come back .
      YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT
What do you want to know
is Heaven and Hell Real ?
      NO THEY ARE NOT
      What is their purpose ?
If your'e good you go to heaven
if you're bad you go to hell
Beyond that, what are you looking for to have answered ?
as for they are not real
      YOU WANT PROOF ? OK
See the thing is, YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IN THE FIRST PLACE
so... When you say "HEAVEN" it means the place that is mentioned in the bible
and when you say "HELL" it means the same except the lower place
SO.. HERE IS A FACT or... a few facts
THE BIBLE IS NOT THE WORD OF GOD
Absolute Fact, Very easy to prove and you can prove it yourself
So... As such, it's not even worth discussing.
      but i will say this
THE PLACES MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE............... Are not real
Because its' a made up story from primitive people
Now let's not dwell on this too far.. Let's just understand the bible hasn't got a fucking clue about heaven or hell
LET'S NOW ASK A MORE INTELLIGENT QUESTION INSTEAD OF FUCKING AROUND WITH THE BIBLE
"So Martin, DOES A PLACE exist that if you are good you go to and if you are bad you go to"
      OK....
First ask, who sends you there
that would be GOD, right ?
      ask if he exists
Answer : WE DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW
      but we do know this....
THE GOD THAT IS PORTRAYED IN THE BIBLE, (if a god exists) he is not the god that is portrayed in the bible
as such, if a type of Heaven or hell does exist
IT'S NOT WHAT YOU READ ABOUT IN THE BIBLE
      what is it's purpose
      well... just like society
You live in society, if you can't function in society YOU ARE SEGREGATED, it's called PRISON
if you can't live in prison YOU ARE SEGREGATED
      it's called ISOLATION
if you can't live in isolation... YOU DIE IN THERE
so... If you can't live in the good place
You are segregrated to the bad place
and i imagine if you can't live in the bad place
      there is a worse place
      it's purpose would be SEGREGATION
      it's meaning ? it doesn't have a meaning
      SIMPLY PUT
God, Jesus, Heaven and Hell if they exist (well, Jesus did actually) but as for the rest of them should they exist
THEY VERY LIKELY ARE NOT GOING TO BE THE SHIT THAT YOU READ ABOUT IN THE BIBLE
      but... Sure, they could exist
Although i doubt that Fire would have anything to do with the equation.
Again, it was written by primitive people who's idea of the worse possible scenario was.... TO BURN FOREVER
they were not smart enough to figure out that a soul can't burn
and when the idea was put forward to them
they had the kindergarten level answer of
OHH WELL, IT'S A FIRE THAT BURNS SOULS

Whether or not hell is an actual place is irrelevant. What we've been told about hell with fire and brimstone is not the worst of it. The worst of judgement for people is the separation from God. God created man to be in relationship. We were connected to be in connection with him in every way, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, even physically as we were when He walked with us in the garden. Sin severed that connection, and we've been searching for it in all the wrong places ever since. But even then, we have not been completely separated from God because Romans 1:20 tells us that God's invisible qualities are all around us in His creation. In "hell" or "death" or whatever you call it, God is completely gone, not present, connection in all aspects is gone. A person created for this connection is void...that is hell

God is omnipresent so he still is there in Sheol and would still be present in Hell or the lake of fire in the center of the Earth. But I get your point. Hell is void of everything good because God is good. They only presence of God felt by those on Hell is God's just judgement.

We are already seperated from God, and have been since the fall of man. That's the whole reason for Jesus, God, paying our debt, so that after judgement, we will be granted eternal life, as opposed to final destruction. By him, Jesus, all things consist, meaning he would be actively holding souls alive by his power in an eternal torment theology. The second death is him letting go of those souls and allowing them to be destroyed completely.

You said there are misunderstandings, but you didn’t clarify the actual misunderstandings themselves - only to say these verses aren’t really about hell.

He’s making this way too complicated. Sheol in the OT and Hades in the NT are synonymous and simply mean the grave, or the state of being dead. The word hell comes from Roman Catholicism and is very misleading. Better translations will say the grave. There are two other instances in the NT where “hell” is used and come from the Greek words Gehenna and Tartarus. 2 Pet 2:4 talks about fallen angels being in prison until Judgement day. The word there is Tartarus and should not be translated as “hell”. This is also what Jude 6 is talking about. When the scriptures talk about the 2nd death in the lake of fire for the unsaved and satan and the fallen angels, the word Gehenna is used and should not be translated as “hell”. This is where the confusion is. When Jesus says that he will build his church and the gates of hades (the grave, death, dead) will not prevail. He’s eluding to the resurrection. Because even when they killed believers, the church still grew. And that is still the hope of all believers after they die: the resurrection. The first resurrection that is. You don’t want to be a part of the 2nd resurrection. That is what the parable in Luke 16 is about. The two resurrections.

He is saying the words commonly translated to Hell are not referring to Hell as we know it or what we were taught. They are referring to the land of the dead, the grave where the righteous and unrighteous go after death while they wait resurrection. @perfectpeace00 If hell is just the place where people wait for judgment day, righteous and unrighteous alike, then why is hell also thrown into the lake of fire according to Revelation? Something is missing with this explanation, and it sounds a lot like soul sleep, which is unbiblical.

    • @sketchstuffs
      @sketchstuffs 11 месяцев назад

@@humblewatchman1673 Jesus warned to be afraid of the only one who could destroy the soul, second death. It isn't soul sleep but complete annihilation. All of the extreme biblical language about hades/gahenna etc is trying to get the point across that after judgement, those who die without Jesus are burned up, and those who die in Jesus are given eternal life. There is nothing anywhere in the Bible that says eternal life in torment is the punishment for sin, rather an eternal destruction is, "the wages of sin is death." Meaning, that death after judgement is a final death. If all things consist by Jesus' Power, and they do, then those souls in an eternal torment in the modern view of hell are actively held together and kept alive by him also. This is unbiblical and has done more to hurt the gospel than most people realize.

The people of the old testament had a view of sheol that wasn't fully consistent with reality. The greek idea of hades was more consistent with sheol's actual makeup. We see in the story of Lazarus and the rich man that the unrighteous are tormented in flame while the righteous are at rest separated from one another. This place of torment is referred to as tartarus in the greek by Peter when he wrote about the angels which God cast into the pit. This image of tartarus in scripture is the image that is most consistent with the image that people have of hell today; a firey place of torment which the evil go to when they die.
The gates of hell as a part of His declaration about the Church I didn't understand until a minister at my Church told us that the gates of hell was the place where the tribe of Dan left God. We see in the book of Revelation that the tribe of Dan is not counted among the ones sealed. Because of this God caused me to understand that this part of the declaration was that the "gates of hell" or rather the things they represented would not prevail at leading away the Church from God.
The reference to "lucifer" in Isaiah is infact a reference to satan. It is referring not only to his fall from heaven "how thou art fallen from heaven", but also to being cast into hell "but to hell[sheol] you shall be brought down to the lowest depths of the pit".

      @benjaminste 10 месяцев назад +3

Jesus does say, in very plain language, what you have stated. In John 3:18, Jesus says, "he who does not believe is condemned already." This is saying that the default position of everyone, before believing, is "condemned already," which is the equivalent of saying "everyone deserves condemnation." Moreover, Jesus says in John 8:24: "if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins," and to those who die in their sins, Jesus said earlier in John 8:21: "Where I go (back to heaven) you cannot come." Revelation chapter 21 mentions only two places where people can spend all of eternity, either in the new heaven and new earth (verse 1), or in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone (verse 8). Verse 23 indicates that God (The Father) and the Lamb (Jesus, God the Son) are in the new heaven and new earth, and verse 24 says the nations of those who are saved are there as well. Those who are saved are those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life, according to verse 27. However, those who are not written in the Book of Life, so those who are not saved, are cast into the lake of fire, according to Revelation 20:15. These statements are all given in very plain language, unless one chooses to interpret the plain language symbolically or in some other way.

Honestly, it’s very few who come to this realization. The values we’re taught in school, by society, through popular culture are just a form of getting caught up in the moment and being a product of our environment. Given enough time, people eventually would learn that status, wealth, position, sex, money, possessions, etc… aren’t important at all. But our span of days aren’t long enough for most of humanity to learn this lesson. What’s truly important, the only thing that is, is that we live our life to love each other and make everyone we come across have a better existence. Our lives aren’t about us, they’re about those around us. Helping and caring for others should be our only concern. Our culture has been corrupted by materialism, capitalism and self-indulgence. We’ve lost a sense of community and brotherly love in pursuit of material and tangential “things”, just stuff that are superficial. I want to leave this earth better than I found it. The lake of fire, or the fires of Gehena, are symbolic. In bible times, there were trash pits burning outside the cities for burning waste and once the fire burned it up, it was gone forever, as opposed to a dump where it can be dug back up and found. According to the bible, when you die you, God may remember you and thus you may be up for a resurrection to live forever in paradise conditions, but if you are slated for the fire, you will not be remembered by God, and you are gone forever, as your memory will have been burned up by the fire so to speak. Hell, and Hades are not places of eternal torment, they are just the state of nothingness during death. At that point, you either have a hope to regain life, or he will not remember you, and that's the fire, not receiving a resurrection. I hope this helps explain things a little better. Don't listen to this guy in the video, he's another charlatan.

      @@jimo3173 Dear Jim
      Thanks for your response.
You said, that the lake of fire and gehenna are symbolic. But gehenna was (or is) a really existant valley near Jerusalem, what was also communicated in this video.
On what bible passages do you base your statements, that some people will be burned and annihilated after death forever?
And all these in the bible mentioned places like gehenna, hades or the like of fire only are used in a symbolic way, as you say, then it doesn't make sense that people will be trown in a real fire after death.
And why do you think that the guy of this video is a charlatan? Which of his statements are proven wrong?
Thanks in advance for your answer and best greetings from Switzerland, Manuel

@@wetti2004 I said that it was a real place used to burn garbage so what did you miss there? The bible uses that as an example of how if God doesn't view you as worthy, you simply will not be remembered and brought back through the resurrection. In other words, your memory will be gone forever like as if burned up in a fire, not your literal body would be put in fire. If you really believe in God and really believe He's a loving God, would He really let a place of eternal torment exist where you suffer for all eternity because you were bad for maybe 100 years if you live that long? What kind of a God would He be if He did? I would not want to know a God like that.

@@jimo3173 My (original) question was not about gehenna, but about the lake of fire, and if it is a literal place or just a metaphor. And what exactly does it mean for people to be thrown into the lake of fire. If it would be for eternal torment, for annihilation or for purification.

    • @jimo3173
      @jimo3173 10 месяцев назад

@@wetti2004 The short answer is annihilation. As I said, the lake of fire and other references to being cast into it are referring to eternal death. That's what the second death is, no more chance for a resurrection at all, ever. Not you literally burn, you just are completely forgotten eternally. If you still have a hard time grasping this, maybe you should seek out a bible study with someone in your area. Learning more about the bible clears up a lot of questions over time.

This may be the wrong way to think about it but I’ve come to the decision that when the judgement finally comes that those who have rejected our lord will not be sent to to hell but will face complete destruction, with both body and soul being wiped out ceasing to exist altogether, with only the fallen divine sons of God being sent to hell after all they have defied their creator for eternity so eternal judgment is more suitable for fallen divine beings not for a mortal who as a child stole something then spent the rest of his life as a upstanding member of society just never accepted God.

Then what would he say about the lake of fire, where all the wicked will be thrown into after the final judgement?
Avoid the lies of this man.

"If someone says to you," there is nothing worth fighting for, and you have left whether by offence or disintrest before they say "that dosen't require a fight. And in the very next chapter of the text they speak of this thing worth fighting for: a mind can be in error when pieces of the puzzle are left out and critical information verses and lines of context skipped.
Proverbs 16:6 "By mercy and truth iniquity(:Lawlessness the desire to have no law or rule of God) is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil."
Proverbs 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."
Proverbs 30:26 "the conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;"
Psalms 89:26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
John 6:48 "I am that bread of life."
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.'"
1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
Ezekiel 47 speaks of a river that flows out of the throne of God where ankle-deep water goes to knee-deep, then waist-deep, all the way to the point that you couldn't get across.
Most who fly themselves under the banner of Christian wallow around in an ankle-deep relationship with the lord, some just grace their toes across the water every now and again.
Seek love with the creator, love him with all your remembering and imagining, for love does many things two of which is always believes and hopes.
Go deep, see. Hebrews 11: 1 and 6. Hold onto him with all your heart. Pray for wisdom, pray without ceasing: don't go a day without it. Read the KJV

3:21 this is to say, where one sees themselves as whole whereas they see others as lacking or deficient, wherein reality is that perceived wholeness is something extra that causes one to sin. We don’t see that, we think our sinfulness is part of our wholeness. Why else are we being asked to amputate what seems like o be our body?

Had the words Sheol, Hades, Gehenna and tartaroo been left as is, or at best been rendered as what they literally and directly translate into, our doctrine would be a whole lot less confusing.

    • @Pootycat8359

The name means "adversary," and is generally thought of as sort of God's "Prosecuting Attorney," one who accuses people of sinning against God. There's the story in the Book of Job, about Satan, hanging out in Heaven, and telling God he can make Job turn against Him. And I've read that the idea of Satan or Lucifer being a powerful being, opposed to God, was imported into Judaism, from Zoroastrianism (the Persian State religion), following their being freed from captivity by Persian King Cyrus.

I recommend God's Devil a book by Erwin Lutzer. The Satan is an adversary who can do nothing without God's permission. Satan is a servant. Satan can come and go to Earth and Heaven just like the other angels as evidenced by the book of Job. Satan isn't kicked out of Heaven into Revelation which is a future event.

    • @maxxmabemwe4859

The Satan of the Old Testament is not a devil. He operates as a prosecuting attorney against man. The story of Job points this out when he and God made a wager about the loyalty of Job to God.

    • @perfectpeace00
      @perfectpeace00 11 месяцев назад

@Pootycat8359 I agree with you. I don't think Satan was originally meant to be an adversary or prosecutor. I believe Satan fell the same day Adam and Eve did because of jealousy and pride. He set out to show God that these humans were not worth his love and should not be exalted over the angels.
So God essentially said you are hired and allowed Satan to tempt humans as a test from then on. God and Satan have different goals in mind and ultimately Satan is just doing God's will and doesn't realize it.
I think Satan also scoffed at the idea of human seed crushing his head as if a mere human can harm him but was secretly scared of God's prophecy so he set out to destroy seed and the prophecy to no avail. I believe the war in Heaven is a future event where Satan and his angels go too far and blaspheme the Holy Spirit which is the unforgivable sin.

Jesus is the main source of our teaching on hell. Like about 20 out of 22 times hell is mentioned. Have you read Fudge’s “the Fire that consumes”? He makes great points about the “hell” messages of consuming fire, outer darkness, etc. what is clear is that Eternal Life is the great gift of salvation. Second death is the promise to the non believers. Another mis truth is that every one has an eternal soul. Only God is Eternal. We are gifted eternal live at our Christian conversion. Liked your points.
