    Alton Brown is easily the best guest star they ever had. With most they barely have any screentime or they are completely overshadowed by Adam and Jamie's showmanship or expertise. Alton Brown is one of the very few who feels like he really clicks with them and can operate on their level in their show.

      Most guess stars felt like corporate mandates and according to Adam they were. Alton Brown though felt genuine. Like they both came together and thought that they could do something interesting together. He really feels like a mythbusters in that combination of showmanship and scientific curiosity.

    Alton Brown seemed very comfortable with the interior of an engine bay for a professional chef and food scientist! That's what surprised me the most, how he seemed to be intimately familiar with the car despite it not being tied to his professsion.

      @@lexilynne419 Basic understanding, sure, but I'm not sure I need to know which part is the exhaust manifold and which is the catalytic converter in order to operate it proficiently. I do, I like cars, but I don't think people generally need to know more than where the often user serviced parts are, like the oil filter, spark/glow plugs, dipstick, coolant/oil/WW fluid caps etc. Many can do with only the dipstick, oil cap and WWF cap. That said, I do feel like I have better control over situations where I understand the more removed moving parts, like having an understanding of the interior parts of the clutch, even when driving an automatic.

      @@lexilynne419 You'd think that, but it doesn't necessarily make it so. A lot of people drive cars. But have absolutely no idea about what to do to keep them going. Apart from putting gass/petrol in them. My friend owns a garage & he's seen many a car come in (mostly driven by kids who have only just gotten their licence). With the engine seizing up or about to, because someone forgot to top up the oil in the pump.

    The dishwasher would likely achieve a higher temperature with its own lid instead of the glass. I'm assuming that the glass is not as good as thermally insulating the machine.
    Over 2 hours, the temperature difference should be significant.

      @@bananewoman There are a few really good videos on YT about the whole incident, the short story is that due to a lack of appropriate safety interlocks and human error, the habitat and dive bell of the oil platform Byford Dolphin explosively decompressed during a docking maneuver, killing all of the saturation divers and severely injuring one of the dive support crew.

      @@bananewoman Yes. In short.. When companies has deepdiving work to do the divers are brought to the surface in a divingbell so they can remain under high preasure and rest so they can go back to work the next day without needing to readapt to the deep...In this case it was 10 to 11 atmospheres preasure INSIDE the bell.. So..this a divingbell under extremely high preasure. (The bell looks like that cannon yeh?) had some poor divers in it, when someone accidentally opened the door.(Not exactly but yeh).. And the effect was just like that cannon... JUST like that cannon.. A terrible tragic accident...But JUST like that cannon.

    Doesn't turkey contain tryptophan, which is what causes the drowsiness?

    • @Ad-dm7cj
      @Ad-dm7cj 14 дней назад

      Yes and No; Tryptophan absorbed in the gut can be transformed into melatonin our sleep hormone, so increasing tryptophan may increase levels of melatonin but this is highly regulated in our brains; It is more due to the heavy meal which the gut is now full of calories. our bodies will detect this meal, and will then signal to the brain to be tired a process called "postprandial somnolence" or food comma as its commonly known as!! It's like our rest and digest pathway. I wouldn't rule out the turkey w/ the high tryptophan content though :)
