First, thank you so much for taking the time out to show us how to replace the blend door. I live in the midwest and my heat stopped working about 2 yrs ago. I was very nervous about doing this myself especially with the heatee core being so close to the blend door but I was able to fix it with no issues. For any woman reading this, if I can do it so can you. Just watch his video from beginning to end first, get every tool that he suggested, remove the car seat and get a pillow for your back then go to work. It might look challenging but it's not. Might is back working now. Again, thank you so much!

For anyone that doesn’t have a scan tool. It’s not 100% necessary. All I did was disconnect battery and after finishing and connecting everything back. The only problems I encountered was tpms was all dashes and the compass was saying “CAL”. But literally after driving it for 5 seconds everything went back to normal. With the patience and tools you’ll get it done.

I finally replaced my blend door last night. I started at 9:45p and by 11:30p the new part was in and secured. I think I could have knocked this out even quicker but a few things held me up.
    1. The plastic piece that you cut off to access the blend door, TRIM it like this video suggests. I tried to put it back in without trimming it and I couldn't align it right. I fought it for a while before giving up and then trimmed it. It went in right away after.
    2. The AC vent tube that is removed at the beginning needs to be put in first when you are reassembling it and the BCM pieces/wires. I tried installing the BCM first and then the vent tube and failed miserably. Once I took out the BCM (and the bracket it is in) the vent tube reattached easily.
    3. Get a GOOD light. I can't stress this one enough as there is very little room down there to work in and you can't see anything without a good light you can reposition over and over to get good views of everything.
If you need something good to cut the access door with, I hight recommend this ($40) plastic welder. I bought it several years ago for other projects and it worked great for this project too! There is a rounded tip that comes with it that was perfect for the job. It took me about 5 minutes to cut out the plastic piece., seriously 5 minutes if that!!

Got the door cut and out today, wasn't too bad, took a few hours, but I didn't get in any hurry.
Only thing I would add is the horizontal screw for the air duct was a Hex 20 on my car and not a 7mm. Mine is a 2012 2SS.
When you get these two screws out pull down towards you and rotate clockwise, the duct comes right out.
The only issue I have now is trying to fish out the broke end, and the white connector piece, but I'll tackle that tomorrow.
I used the borescope and unfortunately, they both are about 1/2 way down to the passenger side, approx. 6"-7" away from the hole I cut.
I tried a vacuum with an end on it that would hold them at the end without pulling them into it, but it didn't reach far enough.
I guess I'll try a long screwdriver tomorrow.
Thanks for the video, made it much easier to do.

I have a 2010 Camaro with the same issue. The A/C mechanic I took it to installed a valve on the heater hose, you close it for A/C and open it for heat. He said he did not know how to fix the blend door and this way was the most practical fix he knew of.
Today I found this video and ordered a new blend door off Amazon. Also, when on the order page an electric hot knife popped up. So Amazon must know about this fix. It will be nice to switch from heat to A/C without having to stop and turn the valve and burn the shit out of your fingers. 😮

737, Scan calibration question: Will a proper calibration help fix any errors that might have occurred from mounting the actuator out of sync with the temp dial? I have plenty of heat and cool down. I just cant say the AC is really as cold as I think it should be. Maybe calibrate the door to close off the heat farther? Also, ditto on the thank you's. You need to do a calibration to make sure the doors are fully opening and closing. A scan tool is easiest and the best way to do this but if you disconnect the battery for a few min and reconnect it when you turn the key on the car should do a self calibrate.

      #3 it doesn't make a mess.

Just recently did this repair and while my air is still a bit cool compared to what it was, is it possible if you didn’t seal that plastic back up that the air that’s escaping could be coming in contact with the heater core resulting in it blowing warmer than it should? That’s literally the only thing I didn’t do and it started off fairly cool but today it felt warm again. The door seems to work cause I can tell the difference in temp otherwise.

The problem with using a dremel is the cut will be thicker than using a hot knife and the most important is if you even touch the evaporator or heater core you will grind through them. The purpose of using a hot knife is NOT being able to cut through either of those.
