My cats like a bit of variety, so I give them 2 different kinds of canned food, supplemented with a can of sardines every 2 weeks or so. I also give them a little splash of milk every now and then, and have had no adverse effects that I can see at all. Snacks are 'Pure Bites' - freeze dried raw chicken breast.
@Sunkmanitu tanka ob waci You are right about the salt, thanks for telling me; I just checked the package. What I thought was, they're packed in water, fresh water, but it turns out that they add salt during the packing process. 😾
I was zesting lemons a few weeks ago and the cat was staring at me. "Don't I get some?" I kept saying no, but he kept begging. Finally I held it out so he could sniff it. He recoiled in horror, swatted at it, and glared at me like "how DARE you stick that foul substance in face!"
Actually, it is poison for them, but animals aren't stupid as people expect them as. Cats, either all animals know what they can eat and what isn't good for them. So if you ever acidentally give bad food to your cat, don't be too stressed. But anyway, always make sure to check if there's bad food for them cause some of cats aren't able to sniff so they couldn't know if it is bad or not.
My cat eats yogurt regularly. Its lactose is predigested by the good bacteria. Im lactose intolerant but the same yogurt is okay with me. She won't eat meat with any kind of herbs or seasonings.
My late cat loved a bit of raw meat whenever I used to cut for supper and loved cheese and yogurt. She lived for 15yrs and died prematurely due to an accident 😔. Chelsea was ginger and white. 🥰

I’m lucky that my cat has absolutely no interest in human food. But there were several items on the list that I didn’t realize could harm cats. I’ll pass this info along to my cat-owning friends.
@Mai Mai thank you ... I don't know what to think I know several other cats and dogs that eat avos in Hawaii where they fall from the trees. Well its worth a precaution I love my 3 dearly and they all eat them. I think because I am vegan they see me eating them nearly daily and ... well they then want it. Don't really know what to think ultimately because there is so much unproved info out there. Thanx again!
I learned about the raisins from TVTropes' page on _Garfield,_ under "Accidentally Accurate Writing", regarding Garfield getting rid of the raisins from the raisin toast--neither Jonathan Q. Arbuckle in-universe nor Jim Davis out-of-universe knew that cats can't have raisins.
I have outdoor cats and it's very active in hunting raws food like mice and other small lives which i cannot control much. I'm trying my best to control them. It worries me but she definitely an active and healthy cat. Btw, thanks for other precautions as i never know salt & milk not good for them. I saw in one of articles that adding salt into emergency glucose recipe for heat stroke cats. I'm bit confused because it's also vet recipes. And for milk, i always give goat milk for kittens but sometimes the mother eat it too 😅
Thanks for showing us this video a cat came in our house in 2021 and he came by the window and when it was afternoon my brother gave the cat cow's milk and when night comes he started vomiting.
My old cat loved to drink coffee, eat cheese, whipped cream and butter, raw fish, and hunt and eat rodents and birds. It became 23 years old and had very good health all the way until the end.
I think it's all highly dependant on the cat. Just like some people are lactose intolerant and others aren't the same is seen in cats. My cat used to have fancy cheeses with my Dad everyday (we cleared it with the vet) and my cat had no issues. He would steal brownies from us too and it never bothered him. His favorite treat was actually raw spicy Italian hot peppers. He had an iron stomach (lived to be 20).
Fun fact: Did you know people who aren't lactose intolerant, actually have a mutated gene that allows them to eat and drink dairy? I just found that out a while back, and it's something our ancient ancestors passed on to us! So basically we are all supposed to lay off the dairy! That would suck cuz I love dairy products, but they don't always love me back. Lmao!
At this point, no-salt-added solid white albacore tuna is only slightly more $$ than my premium canned cat food. The only thing that concerns me is the mercury.
1:18 I think it was 3 months ago I don’t remember but I was taking care of a stray cat from outside who wanted to eat something and he sounded hungry so I let him in and I fed it bologna and water then another day it was inside the house again I gave him some milk and he had diarrhea

I don't believe most of this. My cat loves milk, cream, grapes, raisons, bones, and cheese, and a full mouse and tuna (chilli and lemon grass). Licks rocks and eats grass and the occasional mouse. He knows what he does not like. Very healthy and jumps all the fences and sleeps dreaming of his next variety meal...
You mentioned that providing different cat brands can cause problems as well as feeding one brand every day. What is the harm in providing different brands? My cat always stopped eating a brand when the bag (small) was half gone. I ran out of different brands to offer him so I started offering different brands for each meal and it worked. He liked variety it seems. I did not notice a problem. Can you enlighten me?
Because the diet should not only consist of canned food. You don't eat only chips, do you? They also have a healthy and varied diet. Including cooked meat and fish dishes, fruits and so on
Question: What about horses and chocolate? Is "chocolate" in _My Little Pony_ the same stuff we know? Or is it simply a linguistic choice on the part of the writing team?
Remember. Just because your cat can eat some of the things on here and be fine doesn't mean they should be allowed to eat it, it's still unhealthy for them I'd argue, just like how humans can drink sodas and be fine but they are not healthy and should be avoided.
I don't understand number 1 about feeding cats the same food. Usually whenever I need to change my cats diet I do it slowly over the next seven days. I mix the new food with the old so that they won't have any stomach issues or loose stools. Plus if the vet tells you to keep your cat on a certain food for the rest of their life, does that mean the vet is wrong?
There are different nureriants in different types of food, all equally important. You need to get the food specific for kittens when they are kittens, a senior cat gets the food that is specific for seniors. I have a indoor only kitten with a GI illness. So I mixing the kitten and indoor formula and the kitten and stomach and digestive aid formula. When she becomes an adult she will just get the tummy and indoor formula foods. My vet didn't recommend this to me. It has helped my cat though as she has out lived what the vet told me she'd live. My vet is now telling other cat owners to do this. I also alternate brands and flavor. We alternate between the Friskies seafood blend, Purina poultry and Iams grill mix for the kitten and indoor formulas. The food for her stomach is Blue Buffalo or Science Diet.
It has become almost impossible to stay on a cat food consistently with the shortages of most canned cat food in my local supermarket and l cannot travel to check other stores.

Cats are evolved to eat raw meat (small mammals, birds, insects etc.) and not much else. It won't harm a cat as long as the meat is fresh. Look at all the fruit and vegetables that can cause a cat problems. Cats are anti-vegans.

When I brought my cat to a vet, he asked me about how I feed my cat - and when he learned the answer, he told me to keep doing the same, because cats don't like changes.
I treat my cats the same way I treated my son when he was younger. If he didn't want what was for dinner, no problem. He can eat at breakfast. Same with cats. You don't want to eat the food tonight because it's different? No problem. I'll feed you again in the morning. They are much less fussy about what you feed them when they are real hungry.

I make my own Chili con Carne, with fresh or bottled Jalapenos. Was staying at my Mum's house years ago, preparing this dish over the stove - the beef and onions frying and the smell of hot chili and garlic was all over the kitchen. Happened to glance at the kitchen door, to see Mum's favourite cat, Chip, was sittng there, looking straight at the pan and drooling ! Well, this is one mean Chili, and I thought he probably won't eat it, so I just put a tiny bit down for him, thinking he would turn away in disgust as soon as he found out what it tasted like. Not likely ! He absolutely wolfed it down, and came back for seconds; he looked forward to my 'Chili Tuesdays' right up to the end, at over 18 years old of healthy, happy life.
My gf's cat wouldn't leave m alone if I had chilli on any of my food. I thought i'd teach him a lesson and put a small piece of meat down doused with a load of sambal (chili sauce), it was gone almost before it hit the ground and the cat licking his lips, was looking up at me for more. It became a ritual for a few years until my gf and i split and i would order a large meal, always putting some aside for the cat.

So now Avacados are off limits for cats? Well, this differs from what Jackson Galaxy says in one of his videos on this topic. He makes it clear that ONLY the fruit and no other part of the Avacado (( in very small pieces, not often )) is OK. But while I agree with the dairy products are off limits, I have a very determined, charming 3 year old female with a case of Pica that my Veterinarian will not address, and she will beg like the dickens when I have yogurt.

My cat once ate a bit of chocolate biscuit. He's healthy and my parents say he's the healthiest cat they've ever seen
Just try and tell my cat she can’t have ham. I limit it to just a little bit every other week. Yes she cries every time I open the fridge
My cat eats yogurt regularly. Its lactose is predigested by the good bacteria. Im lactose intolerant but the same yogurt is okay with me.
She won't eat meat with any kind of herbs or seasonings.

I’m lucky that my cat has absolutely no interest in human food. But there were several items on the list that I didn’t realize could harm cats. I’ll pass this info along to my cat-owning friends.
I ALWAYS check before I give my cat something. Asparagus is listed as safe, so I give no more than 2 small tip pieces to mine. They love it!
my cats eat most steamed veggies, but I do put a little butter on it. I feel the fiber is good for them, and they love all the veggies and avocado.
I gave my cat a slight avocado and he ate the whole thing 🤔

Lmao!
But you don't want to gamble either. Most things mentioned are maybe OK for some cats but only in limited amounts.

He knows what he does not like. Very healthy and jumps all the fences and sleeps dreaming of his next variety meal...

My cat always stopped eating a brand when the bag (small) was half gone. I ran out of different brands to offer him so I started offering different brands for each meal and it worked. He liked variety it seems. I did not notice a problem. Can you enlighten me?

The last one doesn't apply to me. My cat LOVES trying new foods and I think that what makes her cool.
You can give them cat milk or kitten milk witch is found in supermarkets or pet shops especially formulated for cats ! Or just water is adequate!
It has become almost impossible to stay on a cat food consistently with the shortages of most canned cat food in my local supermarket and l cannot travel to check other stores.
i have concern that it would get taken off the market or be unavailable so I give them a variety, plus whatever is on sale comes into play.
@@ooohlaa13 I've started switching my cats brands now. I make sure that it's still high quality. I've started feeding them wet food once daily along with their hard food. It use to be given twice a month as a treat but now I know they need to have some kind of meat in their diet daily. I'm learning
