My favorite faction a couple things I want to go ahead and say. Bretonnia doesn't have to worry about supply lines, they have an insanely strong economy basically every settlement build both a farm and a windmill building. You shouldn't ever dip too much into your peasant economy and mid to late game your entire army should be straight knights. Early game I like to just recruit just straight Knight of the Realm and spam them later on you can upgrade to Questing Knights then Grail Knights. Remember to do your vows, I cannot stress that enough, best thing to do is recruit a lord and have him shadow your main army to collect experience and complete vow quests. Regarding their cavalry units they are very strong, key thing with battles is use your speed to your advantage and pick your engagements, the enemy can't catch you so stay on the move (this goes double for those with the Perfect Vigor trait) and pick off priority targets, focus on artillery, then fast units, then ranged, then finally ending with melee infantry.

I mean if you want to just build cheese armies you can do this.
I literally play on very hard with the peasant men at arms with shields well into the late game with no more then 6 cav units and barely have an issue and that's only using Knights of the Realm and standard Pegasus Knights.
Bretonnia plays very good doing the tactic that they actually use in lore. Men at arm fronts, backed up by Bowmen and trebuchets. Knights on the flanks and encircling the enemy when or attacking the enemy flanks forcing the attacking army to divert troops to deal with the cav. Knights of the Realm when stated up under a bretonnia lord, building buffs and research done beat all other horse Cavalry in the game.

I'd recommend the dwarfs as your first game until you get used to all the systems. Cathay or lizardmen are also good ones to start with.

So I started watching some of the other guides. First off, you are amazing.
Secondly, I came back to this one because I've always really liked Brettonia, But I've always done terrible. And part of it is because I always try to unify bertonia first. Then always go for lightning strikes and I try to expand way too quickly.
So I really appreciate your time going through all the stuff and then sharing your opinions and whatnot on the different units because I was going in a completely different way and what you said makes sense. I was always building them like a traditional army. I would just maybe have like five or six Calvary versus the two or three that I normally keep.

@@LordForwind when I start my new campaign I'm going to look at doing that and just doing primarily Calvary with some artillery... I think this may explain though why I've never done good with them.
But I also didn't know a lot about the physical resistance and the bonus to that and some of the stuff.
Do you have a video where you talk about armor and how that works And what armor and shielded means? And all that kind of stuff?
I mean a lot of it's probably pretty straightforward but like if I have the choice to choose between plus four armor or plus for weapon strength or whatever. I have no idea which one to do.
With this said I have hundreds of hours into the game and I still don't even know half of what I'm doing. :p

I dont have a video around that stuff, people who understand it more than me have already done better videos. But off hand get melee defense over attack or weapon strength, it makes your units get hit less which is usually more important than hitting or doing more dmg if you hit. Its why some lords are combat oriented over others.
All the resistances reduce any dmg taken by a%, which is why ward save is nuts since it applies to all dmg.
Armor is good to get since it reduces dmg take on each hit but once you get above 100 or so, its less useful especially if you are fighting enemies with magic attacks, who ignore armor or physical resistance. Early on though and vs normal enemies its amazing.

Yes with farms you need to be careful with the peasant cap, but without farms and peasant bowmen what's the point of removing peasant caps anyway when regular peasant infantries are just useless?
