8 years later, and this video is still helpful. I wasn't sure if a splice job would be adequate as the shielding wire is obviously no longer all the way around the inner wire when you do it this way, so having someone verify that it works is great. I'm trying to put a reverse camera in my sister's car, but to do so either requires drilling holes in the trunk, removing the bumper, or running the cable under the car to the battery vent hole, because the RCA connectors are just too big to fish through the bumper. Cutting the cable on a $30 camera, and then splicing it again, seems much preferable to any of those options!
It obviously isn't anybody's first choice, but for most things this should work fine.

You didn't wrap tight enough, use a soldering iron if possible...

these kinds of tutorial videos are really helpful and its something the gaming community can give to each other. online written tutorials just dont give you the same sense of confidence imo. great to watch someone do it and follow along.

My ps2 works perfect but the only thing is the sound doesn’t work I’ve connected it to multiple TVs and sound doesn’t work when I play video games how do I fix it
Depends on what is wrong. If you have tried multiple TVs and multiple cables without success it is likely the system. Could be a loose connector or any number of things.
fuck , I have the opposite problem. The actual Plug itself ripped off, the RCA head from both of my stereo speakers. So its two RCA heads for each speaker that plug into the stereo unit. I just dont see this happening for me w/o a soldering iron.
Not sure exactly what you are saying, but if you mean there was a female RCA plug on the back of your speaker that came off, yes you will likely have to solder.

Trying to do this on a dreamcast cable. I am not getting video or sound. Roommates dog chewed it in half. If I touch the white and yellow I get picture and loud buzzing. What am I doing wrong?
jnnwk If you touch them to what? You will get a loud buzzing if you short one of the audio lines.
What about when you cut the end off the n64 yellow video cable and there’s a green and blue wire inside how do I replace the tip with a replacement that only has yellow inside
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. There will be two "wires" in every one. Sometimes in cheap cables they will be very fine or have very few strands but they'll be there.

But I do have to point out that it's high voltage, not current, that would blast through electrical tape.
Question. Am I able to cut off the yellow cord and "splice" it with a white cord to work as the yellow? Because the yellow snapped off. lol
They are made exactly the same way, so it makes no difference. The color is just there to make sure you don't plug one of the sound channels into video at the other end or vice versa.

If I was using a Aux cable, do I connect the harder wire to the other 2 harder wires like you did with this one? The AV cable has a red and white inside, which I know is for L and R channel. Just wondering if Aux cables have 2 different bare wires in them for each channel or what.
My PS3 AV cable stopped working. I assume one of the wires inside loosened, but I don't know where. Do I have to strip down the whole cable?
Can i take headphones, cut off the end and make a 3.5 mm jack to av to listen to mp3 music or something on my speaker system?

Would it be possible to repair or clean the AV Cable that was connected to a Plug-In TV Game? I had the SpongeBob Plug-In TV that was packed in the box and when I just took it out and plug it in to my new TV that has AV inputs, the graphics on the screen looked weird with the different random colors popped up, but the game isn't making any glitches and the sound looked fine as it is.
i did the same thing with my rca cable but the audio worked and my video i could see a little of it.

I got a question my 360 cables stopped workin so my father cut off the RCA from the Xbox and grab some PlayStation ones and cut the RCA off of the PlayStation ones and use RCA tips to the Xbox wires I don't know how but it came apart the wires and I don't know how to rig it back together

Ok, so im trying to make a cable for my dreamcast cause ive been looking for months and i cant find a freaking cable! I have some RCA cables(left over for the cable I made for the megadrive) I was thinking if i could like solder the RCA's to the Dreamcast board and that would work as the av cable. Ive looked all over the internet but cant find a tutorial. I dont really want to destroy my dreamcast since it is hard to find here(because everyone bought the ps2) thats why im looking for help.Thanks
I didn't watch all the video but my friend told me today that if you take a Q-tip and get some rubbing alcohol you can dip the q-tip in the alcohol and then rub the inside of the output of the system and both ends of the cable. Although when I tried it the first time I didn't rub the output of the system and it didn't work but once I did that it did so you might just have to rub the output of the system.

I broke the red and black wires that connect the batteries to the green mother board inside my portable NES.
I bought a used ps3 off my cousins buddy now it was a ps3 and he only gave me a HDMI cable I have a old ps2 cord that is used for video and audio but when I plug it into my ps3 it doesn't work and I know it's not the cord it has to do with the back of it if you could help me replace or fix it that would be great

Because I have this app called splice, you can make videos on it, and I want to put a picture on it, but it says this stuff about going into settings and doing some thing, and no one can figure it out! So can you help me with that? (Just FYI if u want to help me with my problem, the app is free)

I have an xbox360 but i didnt get a VGA cable with it but i have a cable that fits into the back of the xbox with red and white female jax on it . i tried to put the male red and white jax into the female and the yellow in the tv but i still have the other AV male cable I NEED HELP!

on my xbox 360 av cable, on the video cable the rod that goes into the input is bent out of place and doesnt work

thank you. gonna combine two rca cables together to make one long ass rca cable so i can put my speakers farther out in my room. Guess im too cheap to just buy the female to female rca socket to connect them.
connect the ps2 video connector to your tv and ps3 then turn off the ps3 turn back on and hold down the power button in front it will reset the video. hold it for 10 secs or so or until you hear a beep

I had to repair my Xbox 360 Guitar hero 2 controller awhile back, dog decided to use it as a chew toy.....so I fixed it but only tape I had at the time was scotch tape, but it worked
omg i just did it to my ps2 cord and so i tryed because what did i have to lose, but ya i tryed it and it worked now i can finally replay my childhood, thanks so much man

ive done that but u can get humming on ur tv... ( bars that slowly go up the screen) or leakage (bars that quickly go from bottom corner to opposite top corner )
Hey if it works any repair is good. I have one ugly but working cable that looks like a dog or cat chewed on it so I'm guessing pets and cables don't mix. :P

Bro, you’re not bad a explaining stuff, but you need to work on that camera angle. Also, show the item you are fixing instead of just cutting some random wires, off camera...
It was only meant to give the gist to one of my subscribers. I figured if they couldn't figure it out based on what they saw on screen they probably shouldn't attempt the fix to begin with.

I have a tool for that called a wire stripper lol, but have used a knife before. Also nes controllers have 3--5 colored wires now. You can make usb too or extend a controller. Right now I'm messing with the nes classic mini.

thank you dude i picked up a sega genesis model 1 from goodwill i bought a cable for it at my local retro game store the cable stopped working overnight and the wires detached from the head i soldered the wires together instead of twisting (better conductivity) but thanks this video helps a fuck ton back to super street fighter 2.
Soldering is the best option, but I made the video for a guy who didn't own a soldering iron.
