    As always, very thorough and detailed review on this reel. You also showed a lot of different ways to set the reel for different weights of lures. Which gives a person a good starting point to start fishing faster. Be blessed. My friend.

      @@JoeHazlet I try to do my best to give honest reviews and I think by portraying it's capabilities and letting ppl known where I think this reel would shine would be the best way to do it. And so far it seems to be helpful! I have been refining my testing sessions for quite some time now.. Hope people will continue to provide feed back and suggestions so I can give better value! thx for the love!
      you know, people say that RUclips does not discriminate against small channels, but I am proof that they do!
      Some newer youtuber by the name of RAWW Fishing who focus on cringy viral videos is obviously bigger than me. Anytime one would search for "rawr fishing" youtube would pop up the first thing "Do you mean RAWW Fishing" and show half a dozen of his videos before mine! So unless you have found me through either cool content creators like AA guys who help promote my channel or if you search specifically for BFS Fishing, you would never actually get to see me :P

    Your reviews of the Ark Gravity BFS were fantastic, and I picked one up as a result. I really like that you help set expectations regarding cast-ability, technique and distance. I’ve started counting my reel turns to get a more concrete sense of how well I’m casting. It’d be nice to see how you cast light topwater lures, like the smallest hula poppers where they are high air drag but low weight.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  5 месяцев назад +1

      thank you very much for the kind words. to answer your question, I simply don't use any topwater lures that doesn't cast well on bait finesse. BF fishing is not about distance, but let's face it, we all need distance to some degree. So it's best to avoid those tiny lures that doesn't fly far and catches air. I use heavier topwater lures closer to 5-7 grams for that reason! But if you really want to cast them smaller lures, I think having a rod that flex very well would help as it can load up the rod and sling the lure out. Let the rod do the work for you! I may play with a few lures this fall when the weed clears up. I got a few tiny lures that would be fun throwing via top water!

      2 g or 4 g? It's a huge difference. I would choose a L power rod for 2 g and a ML for 4g.

      Whether you are new to BFS or not rods are the easier side of things! They usually come with specs so you can choose the right one.
      On the other hand... There's no standard when it comes to bait finesse reels. That said, I love doing what I do as I take a reel, assess it and let folks what I think the reel can do and what rods it fit best!

    Got my Ark and love it! Question Jimbo! Why hasn’t anyone tested the Dobyns Trout and Panfish rods with a bfs reel? I have the Sierra Ultra finesse and it’s a great rod but, I bet the trout and panfish is even better

      @rawrfishing  5 месяцев назад +1

      Sweet! Glad you love it.
      Not sure why no one made videos for those rods. But I don't focus on rods as much as I do for reels. One can get a good rod at a good price easily these days and it will work well. But reels, there's barely any standard in the bait finesse world, so I wanna put my money and time at testing out reels so folks can determine if the reel is suited for their fishing needs or not. If Gary wants me to mess with his rods.... He know where to reach me at :)

    Any large gap between spool and frame that would cause the line to get stuck inside the gap when theres a bird nest? That was always my challenge with the cheaper CDM bfs reels. I never had that issue with my curado.
    How does the bates compare to Aldabaren?

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  5 месяцев назад +1

      Pretty small. I am pretty impressed. Compared the gap between this reel to the 23cqbfs and Daiwa px70 and it's just as small!
      I don't like the 28mm bfs reels from Shimano. My honest opinion is that should never went that route. They should have kept the larger spools a stuck to their traditional bass bfs reels rather trying to cater to the UL side.
      I sold my Aldebaran immediately and got the Conquest only to get slight improvement. But wanted it just to have a small round reel. I rather use my loongze airlite purple reel over the Conquest any day.
      But to keep it back in track... I need more time to fish this as I only had about 30 mins to cast while at the park. But I am liking this reel a lot!

      Thank you thank you, I love fishing and I love bait finesse. I will do a follow up video with a close up of the gap between the spool and the reel. Might just do a photo. But Bates got some insane tolerance control. I have made sure they have the gap small as possible when I reviewed their prototype spools! I will put this reel to the test and will certainly report back to the fishing community if I get the line trapped into the reel. Bates would most certainly get an angry text from me first LOL

    Bates is ok. Here in Texas its very popular since theyre a Texas company BUT, they hide the fact its a chinese reel. A big no for me due to not being transparent about it.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  5 месяцев назад

      @@ETuss713 While some of their manufacturing process involves China... Not everything is from china. They seem 100 percent transparent when I have asked. Perhaps their website isn't too clear due to how many hand exchanges... But it's complicated and it's not my job to stand up for em. So if you want to know the truth... U Can go ask them. I am hoping I can free up some time to tour their factory one day in Texas so that I can show how much of it is made in the US. They did tell me that I was welcome to visit.

    • @ETuss713
      @ETuss713 5 месяцев назад +2

      Please don't take any of this as arguments or being rude. Love what you do. Whenever you make it to Texas you have to come to the coast and try BFS for our Reds and Trout. A collaboration with Nick at RX Angler would be awesome.
      Bates reels are machined and assembled in China. They source or make very few things themselves or in the US.
      I do not agree with the price tag for a Chinese made reel and they then promote being a US company. In Texas they heavily promote being Texan but do not openly talk about actually being made in China. I see this at all the fishing expos, shows, and public appearances. To actually have it be a US made reel, they'd lose a small percent of their profits, but it would be better. $400 for a chinese reel is outrageous.
      Being realistic, I can order an Alderbaran, metanium, zillion, or gekkibijan for less money.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  5 месяцев назад +1

      oh i don't think you are rude by any means. You are nicer than some other folks, which I ban instantly as I don't need that type of folks lingering on my channel!
      honestly, your opinion and how you view a brand or how you decide to purchase a reel is none of my business nor is it my business where Bates have their reels made.
      If you want to classify this as a Chinese reel, then it's the best one ever built and will poop on every Chinese built reel to date! Most definitely better than any "American" fishing companies here that sells reels (Which are built over seas).
      While Yen is down, I most certainly encourage everyone to purchase some JDM reels as it's better than buying reels off cheap stuff from aliexpress! But I won't lie, I am not impressed with the latest Shimano BFS reels sporting the size 28mm spool. Owned both of them and just not impressed.
      I would recommend Daiwa over Shimano for the current offerings as it's really a great time to get some.
      I understand The LTS Reel is quite expensive, but the quality is top notch! Feels better than many of my JDM reels. So sit back, watch me fish the crap out of this reel. If I do make it to Texas to tour the Bates Factory, I will most certainly see if Nic is available as it's on my bucket list to get some nice Reds and sea trout on some finesse tackle!
