I am going to reserve my gushing, over-the-top compliments and admiration until I see the video wherein you impress the "B" logo into each of the 100 0.02mm aspirin you create to fill a tiny jar for the medicine cabinet..................... seriously, you never fail to stun and amaze. Where, oh where, were your videos 50 years ago, before age cramped up my hands????? Never mind - I shall try anyway - your enthusiasm and inspiration are very compelling! Thank you.
LOL, It gets easier than that, Aspirin isn't as commonly used in the rest of the world as in the US, Paracetamol is the go-to pain reliever & that only gets a line pressed into the middle for breaking - so not outside Julie's skillset lol
You prolly dont care at all but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
I never found a dollhouse maker as precise as you before...and I'm so glad I did today, finally someone who matches my expectations in terms of precision and exactitude on the scale of objects in a dollhouse! Now I'll probably buy your books and make my own house, because if it weren't enough, I also love the style you have, antique, wooden, traditional, the kind of house I'd love to live in...
Merci encore. Bien sincèrement.
If you glue a small piece of thread around the top and bottom of your dowels before painting them silver, it adds a little bit of realism to your finished tins.
Are you a teacher in "real" life, Julie--you have an excellent, very clear way of making every tutorial. This one is excellent. I've always wondered how the little packages were made and this has encouraged me to make some of my own.
I started collecting miniatures earlier this year after a lifetime of wanting to but never really committing myself to it. I am so glad I found your channel as you are so good at explaining how to make your own miniatures and I wanted to have a go at making my own 'food' packages. I have been buying them up till recently but it get's expensive when buying online. I have a Canon printer/scanner and box full of inks so I think my xmas and new year will be filled with making miniatures. 🙂 Thank you Julie and best wishes for the festive season from Scotland x
I'm so glad you found this video and hope you'll have fun building up your food packet collection! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :)
@@JulieWarren Thank you Julie. I may have to rewatch the video a few times to get the hang of it. I am going to be making dioramas to go along my window sill like a village street (similar to where I live) so I will need to make a Lot of items. Have a wonderful Christmas and Good Fortune in the year to come. Blessed Be ☺
Great photoshop tutorial and love how you show everything in so much of detail. Your handiwork is amazing. I learn so much in each video. Thank you for sharing!
I absolutely love miniatures but I am just a beginner. I have tried to figure out how to reduce from real size to 1/12 with minimal success so I was pleased that you mentioned Adobe Photoshop and showed us how to use it. Your tutorials are so informative and I am in awe of your talent. Looking forward to trying to make my own miniature packages. Thank you!
Great video. Thanks for sharing how to resize for correct scale. Making these items yourself is fun and can really save you lots of money when you need quite a lot of them. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
I'm glad you feel that way. I think it's important to get away from all the horrible things that are happening at the moment, even if just for a little while.
You are amazing!!! You explain so clearly and in a way I can understand 🤯 plus you’re using the metric system! Even if I never make these tiny food items, I’ve learned so much about sizing, coloring, printing, settings, etc. thank you 💜💙💚💕
Thank you Julie great video. You are excellent at the sizing of things, they look perfect. That is what I find hard getting the right size, I just kind of guess lol. Hopefully I will get better after watching your video.
Thanks Suzie. If you have the food item in your cupboard, you can just measure it and divide by 12. You only need to take the one measurement if you're using a program such as Photoshop and it will work out the other measurements for you! xx
How is it that every video you do you top yourself? The thing is, the first video I watched several years ago was fabulous so this one is out of the ballpark! Thank you again Julie!
I glue things on a silicone baking mat or a teflon craft mat, saves little bits and bobs sticking to your work surface. I looooove your videos. I'm making 1/6, but your measurements are easily doubled to get the right size. *many hearts*
Really enjoyed watching this video. It gave me a refresher course on Photoshop. I always learn something from you. Thanks for the very precise information. You really are the best.
good morning Julie in the video that I saw yesterday afternoon did not understand the measurements of the food packages, in this I can already see it well. Thank you very much.
Hi Julie, loving your videos - you have made my entry into the dolls house world so much easier!! Can I ask what photoshop package you have - is it just photoshop or elements/illustrator?! Looking into different subscriptions and all the literature seems to be aimed at artists/graphic designers and I want it for crafts!!
Thank you so much Elisabeth. I have a fairly old version of Adobe Photoshop. There are some that you can download for free, which is probably a good place to start. Hope that helps. :)
@@JulieWarren I can't wait. I love your books. They have taught me so much. And while I don't work in the same scale as you do, I love the inspiration I get from your books.
Hi Julie hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday. I purchased adobe Photoshop 2022. I have a lot of items that I'd like to scale, but where in Photoshop do I start. I'm not technically inclined when it comes to computer technology. I'm willing to learn. However I watched your video which I loved by the way, and understand it . I just need to know where to start in the program so I can begin. If so please help me to figure it out, I'd really appreciate it.
Hi Julie just to let you know, I've finally figured it out with a book called Photoshop elements for dummies. The book was very informative and interesting. I just want to say keep crafting, because you are blessed with creativity. Thanks so much for all the ideas that you show us on RUclips.👍☺️
Corn flour/corn starch is no less dangerous for people with lung problems & for those without, the tiny amounts being used, here, together with adequate ventilation/filtration & the usual PPE (which we know you're all using, like you're supposed to *aren't* you?) should make baby powder equally as safe.
Thank you for the quick Photoshop tut & how to make the different items. I love your videos, though the way you say "aluminum" is hilarious to me (I'm in the US). It always takes me a second to figure out what you said.
Hi Julie Great video on creating miniatures, can I ask a question, what printer do you use, my issue is. I am creating key rings with images in them, I always find my images are fine on screen, but they are very dark once I shrink them down to key ring size, especially if they have darker colours in them, I alway use SVG scalable graphics and 300 dpi for printing using highest quality. But still they don’t look good miniaturised. Any suggestions please?
Thanks Aaron. I'm not really an expert on printers, but would say to have a play around with the settings-you may just need to adjust the brightness/contrast. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Great video. Maybe that Pukka tea packet should have had a tiny yellow sticker on it - reduced on account of being squashed! The pasta shapes are amazing. Perhaps if the spaghetti was too tiresome, one could use coarse brush bristles..
You can also use GIMP (Free) or cheaper Affinity Photo, or a range of other image editing programs. Also, for those making items to sell, you could not do this. You would need to make your own graphics. These are commercial products so will be under copyright restrictions.
@@PetrikNZ I have been working all week with Gimp, I have never used Photoshop so am finding this layer stuff daunting but I will not give up. I also found I can resize on my computer after scanning this has possibilities but I want to do it like Julie did. Yes Gimp is free and has a bunch of tutorials.
Love the method, but you don’t really need an expensive photo software. Most wordprocessing software allows you to size and constrain your proportions.

Photoshop 6? Had to check the upload date ha. But either way thanks for the tut. And explaining the scale was helpful.
I have since upgraded; it's more or the less the same, although a few new functions.
Hi Julie, so if I measure all work in mm then divide by 12 will this give me correct sizing?
Yes, that's right. I hope you'll have fun with the packages. :)
Talc is a known lung irritant. Try using corn starch instead. We used to generously powder babies with talc. We don't do that anymore! :)

Hi Vickie, Yes, you should be able to. Treat it just like a box and then just cut a piece of card free-hand for the handle.
