MARILYN McCOO & BILLY DAVIS JR. ~ iconic recording artists who are former lead singers in The 5th Dimension, winners of 6 Grammy Awards, plus 15 Gold and 3 Platinum Albums. As a duo, they earned a 7th Grammy for their #1 Hit Song, “You Don’t Have To Be A Star”. The interviewer didn't mention their break through hit spring of 1967 written by John Phillips when they were EXPLOSIVE "Go Where You Wanna Go"! Jimmy Webb she and those two did mention whose still around, wrote my favourite Top 40 song ever as also a trained singer, MacArthur Park sung by Richard Harris in 1968!!! It is like 3 songs in one thus a total masterpiece yet, not a typical American styled classic rather, much more British. I am Welsh, Irish and Scottish grew up as a soloist in Cathedral choirs and since U R not British, there is a difference between American and British culture musically even though I am a Canadian. Merry Christmas.
Apparently there are many of us out there who had a crush on Marilyn. I was a 9 year old 4th grader when I took the album Up, Up, and Away to school to share with the class. I still have a crush on her, and I am so glad for these two great artists who have had so many years together.
I came back after about a year just to watch this again. This is one of the best of the best out of Hollywood. Not only are Billy and Marilyn wonderful, but Ashida is a marvel at bringing out the spontaneous and genuine reactions from these artists and great human beings.
They are so transparent, down to earth, and happy, I've loved them since childhood, so glad to see them in great health and spirits, they just celebrated 50 years of marriage, God bless them!!!

The couple you mentioned is mediocre, the rapper Husband cheated on his wife the entire marriage. They don't fit in the same Category as couples like Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr.

I agree. Because they started out as friends and have remained so, this is why they have gone the distance as a couple. This is what I hope for when Jesus Christ sends me my soulmate. It gives me hope that this kind of love still exists.

Since the late 60's I've heard so many great singers. Marilyn still has that great voice! She's my all time favorite! Her voice can bring tears to my eyes. Awesome couple. Love you guys.

Seeing this listening to this brings tears to my eyes, but they are tears of happiness for the two of them. Their music was ,and still is the fabric of my life. They are two of our brothers and sisters bring wisdom to the table in a very big way. The group came to Cleveland ,Ohio at the famed LEO'S CASINO. I saw them there in that room. This is love personified between two people. This is so great I am so glad that I can afford the technology to bring me this show. Please keep it up and bring more quality brothers and sisters to us who love what they do, and to what your program brings to your audience. I am sitting here and I remember all so well how their music makes ,and brings out good vibes. Please continue with this quality production and GOD bless Marilyn and Billy always together.

Some of my favorite 1960's / 1970's memories of great music I grew up with, most certainly included The Fifth Dimensions !! It's amazing how GREAT & YOUNG LOOKING these 2 are !!! You're BOTH awesome !!

I just love Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. They show us,the good life being a Christian couple. I have enjoyed them since their 5th Dimension days. My first 45 was Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In. My favorite song of the group is,"If I Could Reach You". Beautiful song. I read your book,and will reread it as it is an awesome read. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦 to you both 🙏 ❤

Awesome couple.. I'm so happy for them. Memories for me to. I was 9 years old in 1978 and their hit song is still my favorite today. I saw them live on TV new years eve 1977 to 78.

I Saw The fifth dimension at Carnegie Hall in the fall of 1972 during the Christmas holidays accompanied by a lovely Texas Texas blond by the name of Robin Robyn it's a memory I will never forget.

I'm always inspired to see you guys, as I've followed via TBN, CBN, etc. Got to thinking about these two and the 5th Dimension last night, and so came to RUclips to find out and reminisce! Listened to a 2013 version of the two singing 'Stoned Soul Picnic' and a 2013 or 2014 interview on CBN, and wow!! so very awesome, inspiring and helpful! One viewing these interviews can actually "feel" the love!! Congrats for hanging in there, and mostly to God be the Glory! Love you!

I grew up listening to the Fifth Dimension and after getting over my jealousy of Mr. Davis once again I might add.for stealing my girl I was so glad to see they were still going strong and I wll be ordering their in a few minutes. I want to thank you for having them on your show . Your show was very good your Anchor woman made you want to watch even if you didn't know about the guest before hand. Keep up the good work.

Truly one of their best interviews. Very candid responses, and I especially appreciate their honesty around what was going on interpersonally with The 5th Dimension that led to their departure. However, what this interview made me think of is, as they got to finally listen to Earthbound all these many years later, could the "wholeness" that made them collectively as a group be greater than the sum of its individual members? Yes, they are all talented performers, yet as Marilyn points out, "The 5th Dimension had a very identifiable sound." Change its membership, and the "identifiable sound" is different. I'm disappointed that the individual members didn't just take a "sabbatical" from performing together rather than "break up." I saw their reunion live performance in 1991, and I'm sorry they didn't record something together at that time. IMHO, the group flourished when an outside source (i.e., Jimmy Webb) took the wheel for their musicianship.
Mrs Maccoo thank you for than beautiful song you sang so many years ago that nothing today comes even close to. Yes madam your masterpiece )*(*) ONE LESS BELL. (*(*). Never heard such expression of love.
As an Italian American who grew up in the Bronx in the 60's, their voices and music were something special in my life. Yes, I crushed big-time on Marilyn when I was 10 years old, but the love & good feeling they put out in their music took me to a place I go right back to today. If you can't appreciate their music, then appreciate the blessing God has given them to be married 50 years! They are Blessed people and I dig that!

They were good songs. I love relistening to them but even more than the songs, I wish more people could listen to the story of their relationship. Its wonderful. Especially in the African American community were there are so many single mothers, so few husbands and fathers. If only they could know what a good relationship is like

Came across this interview of Billy and Marilyn. So nice to listen to them. They are so honest and that comes through when they sing. They are so united. I would love to hear them in person someday. Where or when I don’t know but I hope it happens.

It's a shame that the few labels existing don't try to put out an inspired classy act like 5th Dimension rather than the trash heard on the airwaves!!!

We need more people in this world like the Marylyn and Billy on their spare time they help the needy at soup kitchens around the nation as they tour . They are very good people and they still do this at their age .

Me too. I sure wish music today was as good as the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Most of it is synthetic and not real music. The 5th Dimension was a clear, harmonious blend of different vocal ranges that melded beautifully. The lyrics were clean and wholesome with a positive message instead of profanity and repetitive "oh baby" over and over again in each stanza. My generation was just born when bands and quality was supported on radio. It's too bad that whatever sells and is commercial seems to outweigh quality usually. Thank heaven these recordings are with us forever.
