    Not watering a Phalaenopsis Orchid for a month will not.. terminate it! But it will cause quite a lot of dehydration and make the plant more sensitive. So don't do it! But in case you need to rejuvenate a dehydrated Orchid, here's how!

    One summer I didn’t water my phalenopsis for 6-8 weeks. Once I started watering again it triggered all of them to spike. Granted the flowers were not the best show and I wouldn’t recommend this at all. Just wanted to encourage people to not give up if they aren’t “perfect” in their care.

      I had to go to Virginia twice recently. My sister had brain cancer that was very aggressive. She unfortunately passed away while I was in her hospital room. I'm not trying to be miserable, I'm sorry. But the important info is my orchids, because I'm a beginner keeper, weren't that great to begin with. But coming back, they look terrible. Some have yellow leaves. I'm not sure if I can save some of them but I'm going to try. They look terrible, but hopefully I can save them. And, I have to say it because I'm still grieving, call the ones you love because you never know when it will be the last time.

    Oh, wow! My local grocery store in central Texas is currently carrying phals identical to that one. I know there are some pretty stringent regulations around moving orchids internationally in some places, so it's not likely from the same grower. Convergent breeding, maybe?
    I'm kind of reminded of the novel Bellwether, about the mysterious ways trends seem to pop up in different places at the same time. It's a gorgeous color - I can see why it'd be popular.
    Might go grab one, myself!

    Hi Danny, a while back I noticed that two of my phals were very dehydrated with the wrinkly leaves, too. They were in bark, so I decided to experiment with Lechuza Pon and put them in self-watering pots, Fast forward to right now and they are doing so well. The leaves have totally plumped up and I have a new leaf on one of them and new roots starting. I was amazed, because I thought i was going to lose them!!

    Just repotted one of my orchids after watching your videos. Used the media and slit pots from report me. Had to cut quite a bit of roots as many were dead. I tried to no over compact the moss but still did because otherwise the orchid was leaning to much. I used the slit pots and I felt a lot of water was running out from the sides so I might have pored too much water in to get everything wet. We will see how it goes. Have another one that needs repotting but will wait to see how this one develops.

      @jhndr0nia 3 месяца назад

      I don’t think it is a Bronze Buddha since it has a red-orange lip with some magenta and is not almost completely magenta as the one shown in the video

    • @JaninaHk
      @JaninaHk 3 месяца назад

      @@jhndr0niaYou could be right, there are so many phals out there, looking the same.
      However, mine has almost completely magenta, exactly like this one in the video, and it was tagged.
      Also google search gives you the same lip for phal Bronze Buddha.

    • @jhndr0nia
      @jhndr0nia 3 месяца назад

      @@JaninaHk I did a quick google search, that why I came to this conclusion. Especially the lateral lobes of the lip are rather red than magenta/pink as in the plant in the video. The shape also slightly differs. But maybe there are different clones in cultivation, so you might be right

    QUESTION: my orchid has been doing great for about 3 years now. This past fall when the flowers finally died (as they do every year), i started getting the leaves growing very high on the stem. Is this normal? Not sure what to do. HELP!!

    What a recovery! It looks exactly like a scented phal I picked up recently from an orchid festival. It was just called orange fragrant. Even down to the same pot, that says scenza on it. It looks a lot like another one I have called bolgheri. Both are meant to be fragrant and look almost identical. Disappointingly neither have had any true fragrance really. Disappointing because I was hoping it would be like liodoro.

    New subbie! I’ve been a plant lady since I was 21. Now at 54, I am very choosy in adding to my plant family. I have mostly large indoor trees and large potted varieties. But I adore orchids and have a few Q’s: I notice in some of your videos your longer bloom stems aren’t staked and go in many directions. I do usually stake bloom stalks, mainly because mine are in traffic paths (4 kiddos) and I need them safely out of the way of 3 boys😂. I have 8 orchids that stay around the higher light areas in our home and are part of the decor, some grouped in cache pots etc. Mine are all this variety shown here. Is it a preference, or do the plants prefer a more natural bloom stem position? (I did just make a “tea” of onion skins- strained and I did water last time with a tsp of rice flour in the watering water. )My orchids are healthy and green, but don’t bloom as often as I’d like. I have 2 of the 8 blooming now. I did repot several and cleaned up roots and cleaned leaves. So, staking and rice and onion water- these are my questions, thanks❤.

    • @paigeschultz6951
      @paigeschultz6951 3 месяца назад

      Oh- and I do use stakes to gently straighten the leaning stems so the plant stays off surfaces and doesn’t topple. Does this stress an orchid to “train” the stem? I’m just wanting at least a blooming per year. They’ve been sleepy.

    Hi Danny! It looks like Phal. Brother Sara Gold. Do you still have it? You've made a video about it in 2016. I've rescued some orchids, but unfortunately here where I live they overwater them and leave the pots full of water, and have root (and sometimes stem) rot 🥺. The recovery is long, but rewarding.

    Hi Danny, I have a question but need to give some context. I have 10 orchids. A couple of months ago I finally took 2 orchids out of a glass vase (they were given to me as a gift). I left them in it for way too long. I got the lights, moss and fertilizer (feed me) all from Repot Me and followed ALL your directions verbatim. As a result they are giving me an INSANE amount of roots. The one that I thought would die has 15 roots (not aerial) but leaves are so very limp. There is a new leaf coming out and it's nice and sturdy, the rest are really sad. The same goes for the other orchid. A ton of roots (not aerial) and very limp leaves except for the new growth. I am VERY careful about watering. I can't find the answer to this question anywhere. Should I be worried? What can I do? Hopefully it will help somebody else in my situation. Thank you so much! PS Yes, when I repotted I cut off all the dead roots and cleaned the girls up well :)

    • @mffmoniz2948
      @mffmoniz2948 Месяц назад +1

      If the new leaves are growing plump, you should be fine, especially if you have new roots. I suspect some leaves never recover from some levels of damage.

    Thanks to you, my orchids are no longer dying! They're not great, and I still have a lot to learn. That's why I'm hoping this becomes a step-by-step kind of deal so I can get more in-depth info into keeping healthy orchids. Thanks in advance! 😊
