Hey Richard this was my first electric guitar, it was the best guitar available when I was overseas and I somehow lucked out that they had one - I always wanted the Epiphone in the same price range but I’m so glad it wasn’t available - this is such a great guitar I’ve been able to grow with without having to immediately want an upgrade. It’s fun and easy to handle. Get it!! 👍

I have the charcoal version and I love it, except for one thing.. the bridge pickup. It's way noisy and sounds completely different from my other 2 Les Paul's. Having a new one installed at the moment. 🤘
Interesting. The one I played had a great pairing of Pickups. The bridge was great actually. Perhaps it was a bad batch? PRS are normally great for customer support. They stand by their products
Yes that is the case. My misunderstanding. Thanks for the clarification. This is a great value instrument though and probably just as good as the se245 but cheaper.
It isn't just the tobacco sunburst option. More importantly, it is the the all mahogany PRS SE 245 Standard vs the PRS SE 245 which has a maple top. The all mahogany is warmer in tone and is now $679 vs $799 for the maple top version.
@@FretSuccess I only know because both versions are my absolute favorite guitars in their class/price range due to a lucky trade I made about 2 years ago or so. I realized I strongly disliked the shredder neck profiles I had. Traded a Schecter Reaper for an SE 245 because the owner said the neck was similar to old Gibson Les Pauls. At that time, I only had shredder necks which I didn't like, and a PRS S2 Custom 24 with their Pattern Regular neck profile that I love. The trade made me realize I preferred much larger necks with the exception of the Pattern Regular. I then purchased a 2019 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s and two more PRS SE 245s. Numerous SE 245s for various pickup setups, one being stock, and numerous tunings. Still spent less on all that than my Les Paul alone.
I was thinking about this guitar as my next purchase. I saw one in the vintage sunburst colour that I liked. Time to do damage to the credit card I think.
I bought mine this weekend! Great guitar! But i want a another amp, now i use a old Marshall MG100HDFX, in the store it sounds great! And at home on my marshall it sounds crap! Haha, witch amp do you use?
Hey Pim. I use the orange rockerverb100 mkiii. I love it. I have a Marshall tsl 100 but never really loved the sound of it. For a Marshall to sound good you're looking at the older stuff. I was never a fan of the mg series. Found them a bit thin and fizzy. It really depends what you need to amp to do and what sounds you prefer. I think if you like a crunch sound that can go raunchy heavy rock metal and you like warmer slightly broken clean sounds then an orange is very good there. There are so many amps out there now though. Yes this guitar is fantastic. Thanks for stopping by to comment
@@pimrekkers4573 If you have a PRS SE 245 then all you need to look for is a good amp. Used ones are a good options. Then make a decision on Valve or transistor amp. One brand to avoid is Blackstar. Are you using it live? If so what kind of gigs?

I have one of these exact guitars. Overnight the low E string will go from tuned to E to almost F. I have no idea why and have to retune everyday. All the other strings go sharp as well but not to that extent. Please Help! Great review by the way and just Subbed!!!
Hey! Thanks for the comment and subbing! Appreciate it. A few things come to mind. Temperature changes can cause some slight shifting of pitch due to the metal contracting after going warm to cold. The strings could be getting stuck on the nut and causing the tuning issues and could be combined with the explanation above. Might be worth taking the nut to get filed and smoothed off, normally a cheap job. The other thing could be that the truss rod needs adjusting a little. It's more than likely a quick fix from a repair/luthier. I'd take it in for a once over, most do it for cheap and make it play at it's best.
@@FretSuccess Hey Dan, thank you for the response, much appreciated and so glad you keep in touch with your subbies! The G string was bad and I took to a lead mechanical pencil for some graphite in the nut. Seems to have helped but Im surprised it goes up that much in pitch. There is quite a difference in temperature here in Sydney Australia at the moment so that could be it. Ill keep a look out for the change as were coming into Spring in 3 weeks time. I believe the main differences are that custom 24 has wide thin maple neck and 245 has mahogany wide fat c. Of course 245 has 22 frets where custom 24 has 24 frets. Scale length is slightly longer on custom 24. Tremolo typically on custom 24. Plastic nut on 245 and synthetic bronze on custom 24. Different pickups on each. Both good instruments. Hope that helps.
