    Look thru the window behind them @ 1:39 forward. Someone sweeping then breaks the broom over his knee. Strange. Was that on TV or real thing time?

    • @JamesBiggar
      @JamesBiggar 4 года назад +7

      Look closer. Wasn't sweeping, just moving lumber against the wall and broke a stick over his knee to make it smaller for the garbage pile - no broom head attached to either end.

    Please clarify, below frost in bedrock. I completely agree with the epoxy detail. There is nothing about the evacuation of dust when you drilled the holes.

    Should hammer out the granite in steps for the elevation drop. You don't pour footings on a sloped surface, only level steps for elevation change.

    Won't that Rebar embedded in the rock eventually rust out as it's possible for moisture to get inbetween the rock and the concrete?

    • @jake9705
      @jake9705 4 года назад +5

      All untreated rebar will rust in concrete eventually.
      This is a major, known problem that has been over-looked for a century. Only in the last ten years have builders finally applied rust-inhibiting paint to rebar.

    • @mcomp9313
      @mcomp9313 3 года назад +2

      They make an epoxy coated rebar that should be used in the pinning process. Also you should wrap your metal strapping all the way around your footing

    I know these are just short clips from a full episode, but it would be nice if they took 30 seconds to give us an overview with a plot map or similar so we can get the visual of how this is laid out. I mean, it's a garage and I don't see a driveway. I also can't envision the driveway location given the slope on the 2 sides we can see.

    Drill and don't blast but use 'non-detonating cartridges' eg Autostem. You could also use expanding grout... Surprised these methods were not at least mentioned even if they don't suit this particular job...

    They’re using the wrong type of concrete. They should be using the fiberglass infused concrete cause it’s so much stronger than using the rebar to strengthen ordinary concrete.
