NEVER EVER let the power company control your thermostat. NEVER!
My dad was a plumber mostly specializing in water treatment and looked a lot like Richard but with big glasses. Unfortunately he passed away 11 years ago at the age of 62.
Richard is one on my greatest inspirations in my plumbing career. A true craftsman.
Many high-tech thermostats are overly dependent on apps and remote servers. Be obsolete in several years. Imagine one's HVAC system being taken over by hackers. Or controlled by the utility.
I feel like you are all my family at this point. Your show has provided so much knowledge and insight, as well as entertainment. This is one of the only memories I have of childhood that hasn't been ruined, keep it up! Lol.
I Like What General Carpenter Tom Did On Homeowner Front Porch Columns.

The guy was killing me with his hands in his pockets while. Tom fixed his column.
I just need a simple programmable thermostat. If I want to turn it on or off then, I do it myself.
Hmm. Carpenter ant nest in column. Spray before sealing it back up. I guess the drain hole through the new base will let any moisture that finds its way into the column escape.

In my 2004 house, all the outlets with broken tab for switch operation are upside down, while all the other outlets are right side up.

That organization though... I'm so jealous ...
My spilt level entry home has at the top of the stairs 6 switches (!) but one of them truly doesn't seem to go anywhere 😂. Understanding switched receptacle wiring, I tried my tester in every upper and lower outlet position around that entire part of the house.
Dam younger richard looks like the other carpenter on the show😅
