Yup, my thoughts exactly. I actually got the chance to fish the Exensce and a Twin Power FD (which is very similar to the Stella) side by side the other day. They felt quite different, and the start up inertia, overall weight of the reel and "sensitivity" were noticeably better for the Exsence.
*Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*
I have both Stella and Exsence. Honestly I love the Exsence more, it’s smoother, and it’s lighter. Cast like a dream and just simply out performs without the cost. My Daiwa Exist is better though. Just simply sexier!
Hey man! I’d really like to see a follow up from your first video. Guessing you’ve tried the reel by now, and I’m dying to see how you felt about it. If possible it would also be great to see some videos of you catching some fish with it to see it in action :) Thanks!
Hello! Yes, you are correct. However, it's too cold to go fishing now, as all lakes here are frozen. I will follow up with a on the water review as soon as fishing starts again. I also recently acquired a new GoPro so I'll be the perfect time to film. Be on the lookout for the video, I'll come sooner than you think! :)
It's seems very silent, no gear vibration or anything else ? it's made in Japan ? Body is aluminium or carbon ? Twin power XD seems more noisy. For saltwater, i don't know which one choose.
Yes, it’s made in Japan and it has a saltwater-approved magnesium frame. For saltwater I would choose Exsence unless you were targeting larger fish in which case TP might be better
The Vanquish remains the best finesse reel in the current lineup. Lightest reel, lowest startup inertia, lowest drag startup, etc. By contrast, the Stella is quite rigid and relatively heavy when compared with the Vanquish, as Stella has an all metal body and metal rotor. The Exsence lies between the two, it's stronger than a Vanquish (but also heavier) and more finesse than a Stella.
@@dinkobilic9078 The Stella FK is the direct competitor to the Daiwa Exist. It's the smoothest, highest technology, most refined, and high end reel in the whole line-up.
How does the drag compare? I have a Stella and would like something similar to replace my baitrunners, I need quicker engaging drag than the Stella though. It takes about 6 turns of the dial to feel a difference!
Thank you for sharing….. can you please explain why pricing is all over with this model ?? I see $599 all the way down to maybe $250-$300 I’m very confused with that
It depends, the two reels are very similar. Exsence is a bit heavier and sturdier, it has a stronger metal handle and a stronger drag. Vanquish is a bit lighter then the Exsence with less resistance and is more finesse oriented. I personally chose the Exsence because where I fish I oftentimes catch large fish too so I appreciate the extra strength. But other than that, the two reels are virtually the same.
@@davidvanmaanen-icperch2797 You're welcome! Yes, I have fished both, and they are extremely similar, just feel a bit different. The Exsence feels a bit more sturdy, you can tell the difference between metal and carbon handle. Vanquish does have a little less resistance though. One didn't feel more expensive than the other, although I personally think that the quality of the paint on the Vanquish feels more refined than the simple matte black, more minimalistic look of the Exsence. It really just comes down to personal preference.

It is better sealed but offers slightly more resistance. If you want absolute finesse then go for the Vanquish, Vanquish is king in ultralight. If you want finesse but also for it to better handle bigger fish then go for Exsence
'C' in front of a reel name stands for 'Compact Body' meaning that a C3000 will have a 2500 body with a 3000 spool. The normal 3000mhg without a C in front will have a 3000 body and a 3000 spool
Hello! HG stands for High Gear and XG stands for Extra High Gear - which are the speed that your reel retrieves. One is not particularly better than the other - it all comes down to what you need more. XG will retrieve more line and HG will retrieve less line but be more powerful.
@@donaldstephensen8654 If you want the BEST Trout reel, go with the Vanquish C2000S, C2000SHG or if you prefer a really tiny reel go with the 1000 Vanquish. I have the C2000S and C2000SHG in the 19' and 23' models and prefer them over the 1000 due to a little more line capacity, a higher gear ratio (1000 is too slow), and casting distance.
@The-Fin-Factor every one loves that T handle but I can't get used to it on my Vanford 3000 I changed it to the handle that is on the Vanford 2500 and I'll probably do the same if I only this reel I love my Shimano reels but that Big T handle is flat out uncomfortable for me might be that my hands are not huge enough
I don't think it's a limb. The Stella is a salt water reel. Freshwater guys buy it because it's the most expensive. It's the most expensive because it's sealed for salt water.
Great first comparison.
I have two stella's and you are correct- they feel like they were made for more heavy duty applications.

I don't like in betweens. For freshwater I'd rather use a vanford and salt a Stella. Go premium low end or premium top end. 500 for mid range is wild
You would still consider this as top-end. Not flagship, but top end for sure.
