    After complaining and complaining, a different Ford dealership (90 mins away) ordered the parts and it’s scheduled to get fixed like the 2016/2017 models.
    I’ve heard Ford Canada is issuing recalls, but only giving out a Ford Focus for a loaner. Truck has 20k on it, I don’t think I should have to buy things to make the door stay shut. I had to hold it shut last week when I took my daughter to school. Scary ride.

      My door does the opposite, if I open my door from the inside and try to close it the door won’t latch unless I lock and unlock the door. Is there a fix for this issue?

      Bruh! That wasn’t a slam. A slam would be asking you why you’re commenting on a 2.5 year old video with more downvotes than upvotes. Thanks for sharing your personal struggles with the F150 door not functioning even after “warranty repairs”

      Steven Roth You’re more than welcome! And don’t try to justify it, that most definitely was a slam for the latch being closed. I wouldn’t define that as a slam if the latch was open. Glad your warranty covered it

    I have the same problem with my 2018 F150 Platinum. You all know how expensive this truck was. So far, I’ve had to repair the sunroof, had to replace the cam chain tensioner and phaser, now this frozen door nonsense, and the BIGGEST problem….now a failing transmission (10R80 10-speed trash). A replacement tranny will cost about $7,500 with labor. I had a Tundra prior to this F150 and have regretted buying the Ford since nearly day 1. The worst part is that I knew Ford’s were garbage, but I bought it foolishly thinking they may have improved over the years. I will NEVER buy another Ford and will never let anyone in my house buy one! Done! So done! Won’t even accept a rental if it’s a Ford!

      I heard ford in Canada recalls the truck for safety. Not in the USA.
      If you roll down the window, you can open it from the outside. The issue is the interior door handle.

    How frustrating when the price of vehicle is so high.
    I’m going to try loading it up with Fluid Film.
    I read people using WD40 but that will dry out. Fluid Film won’t dry.
    Good luck F-150 owners.
    Still have to do the recall for the seat belt.

      I had the recall done last fall. It did not work. I had the recall done again this spring. We will see this fall. WD40 does not work. Its something inside the door that freezes. Its not like water is migrating in during a rain, it happens with no rain or snow the previous day.

    Does the recall cover the door latch issue ? I am leasing a 2017 f150 xl STX and been having issues with the door latch I'm assuming freezing due to cold Nebraska weather. Called my dealer said it "might" be covered by the recall but since they aren't looking at it they can't tell me. Any fixes in case I am leaving work and my door won't latch ?

    • @stevenroth7225
      @stevenroth7225  5 лет назад

      I had to complain many times to get the dealer to do the Canadian recall fix for it. It doesn’t help. I have the same issue. You have to let the vehicle warm up so the inside is warm to the touch. 20mins? If you know it’s cold enough where the door will malfunction, roll down the window and open it from the outside. It’s some mechanism inside the door, on the interior.

      @@stevenroth7225 so when I get in to leave from work .. I work overnights so it's always coldest time of the day when I'm leaving to go home, I can't get it to close or latch at all. So I just should start the vehicle let it warm up for 20-30 outside while my door is unlocked and not latching ? Lol that sounds unsafe and like a terrible thing to have to do considering here we probably won't see consistent temps above freezing until mid to late march

    • @stevenroth7225
      @stevenroth7225  5 лет назад +1

      Daron Chambers, my issue is when I open the door from the inside. I open the outside of the door, get in, close the door, start it, then try to open the door. It’s the opening of the door from the inside that screws me. I’ve learned that I have to reopen the door from the outside unless it’s warmed up. I usually start it at 5 or 6 am in the driveway and let it warm up, but now I wedge my foot in between the door and the frame so it doesn’t close on me.

    Just had this issue with my parents' 2017. Mom got a car wash yesterday when it was 40F. This morning it's 17. That should not be an issue a day later, but whatever. WD-40 will help PREVENT ice on parts. But it doesn't really help quickly if already frozen. I used Prestone windshield deicer; it cleared up in about five minutes.

      There is a work around if it does this. Just pull the door closed, hit the lock button and it will stay shut. Then just pull on the door and it will lock in.
