Some thoughts from a 47 year-old American: When you put out your first ten songs, I burned them on CDR in release order and listened to them during long drives. Now that you're up to twenty, I continue the format, and can not imagine doing it any other way. "Slow Down" is exactly what I want to hear when backing out of the driveway, and hitting the highway as "Him" comes on gets me psyched up for the ride. I can't imagine skipping anything, because there's always a hook in each song that I can latch onto and say, "oh yeah, this is THAT one". The gap between good moments is never very wide, but again, those are just my thoughts. I'm sure that by the time you're up to thirty or forty songs, I'll end up chucking some away, but as it stands right now, it's all gold to this old fella. Sappy side note: A couple of years ago, I was starting to lose the love of my life to cancer, and had to get used to riding long distances in the car without her. I'm glad I had those first ten songs to help get me through that. She's been gone well over a year now, but at least I have another ten songs to take on that lonely road with me. Thank you for that.

Despite it not being a favourite, wake up will always have a special place in my heart. I still remember staying up until midnight until the song was released to listen to it and finding it the most relatable James Marriott song, and to this day it is. His music genuinely changed my life and I really hope I can see him live one day

Grapes, the song I fell in love with back in 2022, didn't appreciate it until that year.
Him, when I was going through a breakup when they cheated, this song was everything to me, helped me feel understood.
In-between, this song just resonates with me in ways I cannot describe, I remember James just saying like, "this song isn't as popular as the rest," I didn't care, I loved it.
New Face, it was good I liked it? I mean it grew on me,

I agree with all of these EXCEPT So Long. As Jimbo said, he felt restricted to stick to the live version while recording, but I do also think it is still an incredible song and one of my favourites from any artist, not just James. It is beautifully written and works really well on the album. I understand what James is saying, but I am still SO FREAKING GLAD that it's the way it is.

Over my head has got to be one of my favorites, although so many of your songs are bangers. Just so fun to sing in the car.
I get why the other side is in c, but I just wanted to let you know how much I love that song and how much its impacted me. The story it tells of almost committing suicide and at the end deciding to live feels ripped straight from my life and this song helped me come to terms with that, so thank you James ❤️

But this was a great way to get a look at the full catalogue of your songs and your opinions on them are fascinating to provide insight into the song's history. Car lights and slow down, whilst less liked, those two slap hard for me, I only really listen to them in the summer, or when I’m walking around and it’s like super sunny.

Denial is my favorite and I stand by that, not only because it's such a bop but when you listen to the album in order, White Noise flows into it PERFECTLY. I love the story that comes from both of those songs

while i do think youre very harsh on your songs i do love that you can be critical of your own work, you understand that some parts of your songs can be improved and its awesome im SO INSANELY excited for more music later on down the line
