    Wow looks great are you using guache for paint and clear coating it?

    • @JasonLucioArt
      @JasonLucioArt  4 месяца назад

      No, I am using a resin based acrylic paint that has a matte finish. At times I will give the paint a top coat of a thinned acrylic satin varnish or un-thinned on areas like the bill or feet. Here is the paint I use shop.decoart.com/traditions-canvas-art-paint/

    What do you use to seal the bird before you prime it ,is it thinned with a solvent?

    • @JasonLucioArt
      @JasonLucioArt  2 месяца назад

      I seal them with a semi gloss clear lacquer. Usually Deft or Watco brand. Sometimes I will cut the first coat by 25% with lacquer thinner if the detail is very fine.

    Superb! Might I ask, what would you say is your average completion time if all goes swimmingly with a project?

    • @JasonLucioArt
      @JasonLucioArt  2 года назад +1

      It really depends on the size of the bird but something like this falcon would be around 5 weeks.

    is that basswood?

    • @JasonLucioArt
      @JasonLucioArt  10 месяцев назад

      No it's Tupelo wood. If you aren't familiar with it it is a very light, somewhat soft wood. Carves great with power tools and very little grain.

    I noticed one wing didn't have flight feathers, was this intentional? I'm an artist myself. 😊

    • @JasonLucioArt
      @JasonLucioArt  Год назад

      Actually, one wing crosses over the top of the tail and the other is slightly hidden by being tucked under the tail. I can see how you thought that though.
