    This is precisely why I'm not a fan of power antennas. I had the power antenna (which didn't retract all the way) on my 4Runner replaced with a stub antenna before it was delivered.

    When i installed my new radio and 1st turned my car on the antenna went up and wont go back down? Even with the radio off? How do i put it back down?

      Without disconnecting the antenna, should have it come up when radio is on and when off it should go down

    Hi, Does anyone know if U need to remove the running board for 1997 3rd gen 4runner limited in order for the side fender to come off. I believe I have removed all the screws already but it not coming off. 3 top screw Underhood, 1 in door, 2 beneath door, 1 in wheel well and the 4 screws that holds the plastic, 1 under the light. Not sure if I'm missing anything. Please help.

      C Trader it’s a 3” spacer lift. I bought it with that lift. Plan on doing a coil over lift soon.

    I’m trying to replace my radio for my 96, all the radio harnesses from o’reillys or autozone. Any suggestions?

      Brock Southern I have another video on my channel or my radio swap. Check that out. I suggest that deck and it comes with all harness and parts.

    Pretty much same issues I have, had, etc. At an apartment now, so lack of space, tools, and familiarity hindered efforts. I ended unplugging antenna motor leaving it stuck about 1/4 up. I like your simple practical solution with the fixed antenna. Did you happen to find out what the original issue was from? Like broken teeth on the antenna rack gear or something? I'll have to share your channel with whomever I can. Thank you again.

      So it has sort of a plastic worm cable in there. Mine was so dry rotted and blown into a million pieces so the teeth were not making any contact with anything.

      @@stonesgarage4240Hey what dash kit is that for your stereo?

  • @andyz3925
    @andyz3925 4 года назад

    Isn't there a ground wire of some sort that needs to be connected to the Deck from the antenna or visa versa?
    I ask because I'm getting a "whining" sound out of my speakers and I was told by my Stereo installation guy thats its my antenna thats not grounded?

    • @stonesgarage4240
      @stonesgarage4240  4 года назад

      What kind of deck is it? I had a similar issue when I had a cheap deck from autozone. When I upgraded to a better name brand it killed the whining in the speakers.

      Whining is a bad ground most of the time

    Did you ditch the antenna motor or is it still there?

    • @stonesgarage4240
      @stonesgarage4240  4 года назад

      TheRealitarian ditched it. It was all one unit and the plastic worm cable inside was all cracked to pieces so it went bye bye.

    Nightmare todo anything on these rigs. I literally pulled my crappy mast off and called it good lol. Don’t listen to radio anyways.

    Better for reception to have a non-functioning oem power antenna than a whip or aftermarket stud. Doesn't mean we can't install an inexpensive signal enhancer tho. I watched this on mute b/c I've got to disconnect the power antenna motor and needed tips. Pretty sure there's access straight through the fender skirt. Not sure why this video has the entire center unit and passenger trim disassembled other than for access to the rear deck. To each their own.

    If it's helpful to anyone I went this route and it was an absolute bitch of a project. They make a simple converter mount where you just undo the silver mounting screw, pop out the telescopic antenna, drop in a new brace, put the silver screw back on and screw on the rubber antenna. Not sure how it works but I'd highly recommend trying that first. $50 on Amazon.

      @@adamsherman8735 reception isn't as good as the telescopic antenna but my radio does still work. I use Spotify for music so not really an issue for me.

      @@donbon303 did you happen to go with the converter kit or just the antenna? I don't think my motor works, PO had just used clothing wire as an antenna
