I played this for IOI band competition 5 years ago....won a gold medal~~ everytime i heard this song... i was like...wow~~ and i still can remember that the trumpet solo in the bar 73!! ^^ haha!!! although i'm not playing solo that time...but now i'm..^^
I get to play timpani at nationals this year for this song it is the first time my junior high made it to a national competition I'm just having a very happy day
Performing this tonight with the Tipp City Community band, Steven Reineke's home town. I also had the honor of playing in the band in H.S. with him. :-) He was an incredible trumpet player!
I love this peice. Everyone is saying there in high school. Im in middle school and we got superior at a festival =) i do recommend it for students to learn

We played this in our high school band and it sounded a lot better when the beginning is slower and more dramatic. At least I thought do, I was 1st trumpet.
Having a double horn makes high notes much easier, and practicing high notes and learning how it 'feels' to play them helps. Lip memory or something like that xP

The sextuplets and 32nd are very hard as well, mainly on bassoon because of how hard it is to movie fingers that fast on bassoon
