This is great. I think a lot of people right now are afraid of leaving jobs because the job market is so bad right now in addition to the economy. Layoffs have taken place, and it has become more challenging for highly qualified professionals to land a job. In my personal experience, I would love to leave, but I’m afraid that when I am ready to hop back in the job market that it could be difficult to land another job due to the job market, the economy, and the climate of the world currently. Everything is so uncertain, many people are choosing to stay at jobs that they would like to leave because they fear they won’t be able to get another job.

My question is what if you go and look for another job after leaving your toxic job and you need a reference from your previous job and they need to speak to your toxic manager or supervisor?
@@theantihr typically I try to find a peer that will vouch for me. But with my last job in accounting I found out that they would only speak to my manager as a reference. She was mad of course that I left because of racism... And the accounting department promised that they would be a reference for me if I found out through a staffing agency that they would not provide a reference on my behalf. I didn't want to lie on upcoming applications about who my manager was, just to get an interview. Some applications have requested only a supervisor or manager to be listed as a reference. Thanks.
@@MsUnity2011 - This is true. They only want supervisor or manager references. This is a concern and barrier that should be addressed and I don't see it being advised at all.
@@unityaboriginelove6595 This is true. You need to be really careful about this. Some companies will only speak with HR and confirm you worked at the company. They won't ask about performance or the reasons you left. It depends on the company and the laws of the state. But I would be leary about using a manager as a reference if I left on controversial terms. It's something that needs to be navigated. I always recommend looking for a job while you're in the toxic job situation, which I understand can be challenging. But when you interview, the company will not expect a reference from your present employer since you're currently working at said employer.
Curious, how is racism different for black women vs black men? Wondering because I usually see more black women in corporate America, i hear that's because black women less of a threat for them.
There are more black women in corporate America because they are more black women with advanced degrees than black men. I don’t think that racism is different for Black people, but it might be experienced differently and where it comes from might be different.
Scarcity mindset has us dying to stay at these jobs that will literally replace us before we reach the mortuary 😔
I love the fact that you exclusively say "Black women" instead of that rhetoric WOC. Yesssss, "WOC" experience is NOT the same as ours(Black women).
We are not them and they are not us🤷🏾♀️
@theantihr-hrlady yes its different for black people period.

Glad you like them!
Because we have bills to pay and people to support. You can't always just leave without a fight.
If that’s your rationalization Oke doke.

Why in the world when you provide a toxic manager as a reference? You use someone else has your reference.
