Ah .. Cholla .. So much better long dead than alive. This and Pyrocantha are the bane of the Southwest because so many decorators loved the LOOK of them ... they didn't have to LIVE with them.

For the budget conscious, how about using an old screw driver to make the awl? They can be had for pennies at yard sales.

I was expecting something like "no owls were harmed in this video"

I have an independent 4 jaw in my Barnes which is wonderful for metal. Your videos certainly provide an impetus to get a setup for wood turning.

Like the sound what you done here James Guide can’t see it. But loved hearing the bit of the foot tribute live. I’m blind as I’ve commented on it before from England and hopefully next week will be getting my foot treble life, I’m what I’m getting was used in the Second World War to help veterans get back to fitness with the legs and also mental state by getting making stuff to put back into that the war efforts. It’s a dual beast looking forward to playing with it though and being blind it’s not going to be safe and it’s a bit more nicer to be indoors when it’s cold and wet than outdoors on the Pole Lave Stop trying to find where you’ve got the RUclips tips on restoring your treble live can you attach the link to the comments would be great and yes definitely would like to hear more turning

The best practice for removing bubbles is to mix the material, then vacuum the bubbles out, then pour and pressure to force any new or remaining bubbles away from the walls, as well as making them as small as possible. Pouring at a significant height also helps to reduce introducing new bubbles...

Beautiful work, James. The title of video was misleading :). I thought that You made cage for owl :) What do You add to epoxy? It's some kind of metal filings?

That is basically glitter. It came with one of my sets of epoxy dyes.

What live center do you use? I always have a hard time getting near the live center, due to the ring on my live center.

This is just a cheap one from Amazon. They are cheap enough that if they get damaged it's pretty easy to replace them.

Oy. Never thought I would have to get you on a safety issue.
Never put your fingers on a spinning blank when there is a tool rest there. You can have a really bad accident.
I know you are foot powered and not motor powered, you probably won’t lose a finger, but can have a nasty break or skin removal.

The belt on this loose enough that I can very easily grab the spindle turning at full speed and stop it. That's the nice thing about a loose belt
