If there's an album that has had a tremendous impact on me it is the blue album by ADOLESCENTS. This record really blew me away. The Agnew brothers on guitars, Steve Soto on bass, Tony's snarl and wow, Casey (who would form D.I) on drums? What were they putting in the OC water?!
It was a fun challenge to go back and learn all the octaves and solos for this song. I've always loved that high octave b string lick.
Recorded all my parts into Ableton.
My backing track I was making with moises messed up and didn't capture the whole song so this is just a snippet.

I have a kind of weird Les Paul. It's a Gibson Classic Les Paul Lite. It has a thin body, and it's also chambered, so it's really light weight. Maybe 8 pounds. It has a very beautiful "honey burst" finish. It looks like any other Les Paul from the front, but it's much lighter and thinner. Whenever I plug it in, it still sounds like a full-blown Les Paul to me! I don't think Gibson is making any more of these, so it could end up being a rarity. There's nothing wrong with owning an American-made Gibson Les Paul! 😀
Very cool! I have heard of those. I bet it sounds great and feels great (especially the weight, ha!) I have seen Custom Lites too. Although I'm more of a fan of a full blown Custom. Can't go wrong with a Gibby if it suits you!
I think there is the notion that a Les Paul must be heavy to sound good. It's kind of traditional. However, I have not found that to be the case. I wish I could let you play my Les Paul, because I think you'd really dig the guitar! @@DevinRyanVitek
