The original ford drum is the one with the rectangular tab near the one lug hole and the double lip where it seals on the back. The other is an aftermarket. Also I used rustoleum farm and implement black paint on back drums because I used that when I rebuilt my differential and painted it. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna come off if you don’t at least use engine paint. The regular stuff is only rated for 200 F and mine probably won’t last. Regular paint will actually work for motors and transmissions (I’ve done it with rustoleum enamel and primer) but I doubt it would work for brakes like you said.
Maybe not, but it'll give me a reason to disc brakes. :)
You car is pretty sweet. I’m in the process of building my 1972 mustang coupe. I need to paint it but all the body work is done. I put 3.55s in the rear and took a t5 off a 97 and got that bolted to the motor. Does the regular driveshaft length off of the original car work? That and getting the cable clutch drilled in the firewall are the two things I need to do as my car was originally an automatic. I have 3 pedals in now.
Thanks!
I know the driveshaft from the 65-66 cars with the C4 will fit, but I don't know about later years.
Drilling that hole for the cable clutch is super easy. :)
My OCD wouldn't allow me to put those rotors back unless they were matching, LOL!
Ha, it was close, I almost bought a new drum just for that reason. Beside, it's CDO, gotta have those letters in the correct order. :)

Looks good! But I would have sanded with 80-100 grit after the wire wheel. The wire wheel "polishes" it and sanding would have given it some tooth for the paint to adhere to better.
Not a bad idea. :)
When are you going to update the rears to disc?
No sure yet. That's an expensive upgrade and I think I'd rather have the 9" rear in there first. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel I was surprised the rear brake kit was cheaper then the front since my front kit included the booster so it was cheaper
Drum brakes on rear wheels last longer.. much longer! 😉
Turned out great!
Oh, no need to take off the center dust caps, my man… 😁👍
Thanks 👍
