I love this spot!!
I hope they reopen these rails it would be fun to rail fan here!
That part of the tracks north of Lewis is dead rail. They used to go by my business on bridge street and terminate at the old Rohm & Haas plant in Bridesburg. That plant has been leveled for a few years now.
That's called the Delair bridge. In Winter, the wind would come down the Delaware and pick up moisture and drive it through your clothes like nails. I had to walk that bridge and check the bridgelocks for the signal system that allows trains to enter onto the draw.
Awesome video Captain. Go birds!
Damm straight, big fan of Steve and crazy neighbor.nice shout out Philly fan.
New Jersey Transit's Atlantic City train also uses the Conrail bridge. The other section you were walking along was used to serve Rohm & Haas when the plant was still there.
I used to work for Rohm & Haas down here in Delaware as an inspector for the pads they make.Night shift twelve hours at a pop.Hated it.
Called a spur line.
Didn't Rohm & Haas make the plexiglass bubbles for the WWII bombers?
Dude I got that weird week knees feeling when you were on that grate..
Used to drag race down the meadows back in the day.
Hunker down! Been a subscriber to Steve's channel, for over 2 years. I'm so grateful he has Crazy Neighbor to help him get through the heartbreak of loosing his wife.
Oh shit, been watching Camping with Steve off and on for a bit over a year now
Ah, the DeLair Bridge
I grew up in Fox Chase & Bustleton 1960’s - 1980’s. I used to bike the Pennypack Park bike trail.
Is that part of Delaware Avenue near the auto auction? I moved from Delco to Florida last year. I miss my dirty hometown.
Keep doing what your doing, makes my day!🙃
Hey PHILLY CAPTAIN, along the Del River trail via Bridesburg/Port Richmond border near the bridges..A lot of old Railroad trails & yards...Fine video footage...Great Wed and TOODLES...
So funny I thought you were talking about Steve Wallis channel, confirmed when you mentioned crazy neighbor the other day lol. I didn’t recognize the channel you shared though, maybe a second channel?
(Edgemont & Allegheny born & raised here Capt)
Captain ,Thx's 4r the Adventure ; out doors is my thing ; i like to explored old sites and old houses as well,, specially if i head that they haunted lol kind of spooky but what matter is the time we spend exploring those places . the train track was awesome ; sometimes i imagine who was the person help to put that bridge there or stones ,, The history of those place are amazing ,, KEEP THE GOOD WORK ,,, & Stay safe out there, 😏👍✌
I remember being on that lil bridge when they were just building Aramingo Exit off 95
my friend goes by that uhaul truck by the river everyday you should go exploring with him
Its true
And wooden streets, too.
You will definitely hit 25k subs for the New year and easily on your way to 35k subs by Easter 👍
"Rick the puppy where are you?"
Thanks for Sharing! I hate heights too!!! ❤😅
Wow Captain!! Looks like a cool spot, thanks for bringing us along. Congratulations on your channel!! 🎉🎊✨
Hunker down!! Steve and crazy neighbor are awesome!
I grew up in New York City, and even as an adult I still love discovering abandoned or disused train lines and just off the beaten path spaces of the city in general. This was an excellent look into a very special place for you, I’m sure.
Conrail no longer exists. It was split between Norfolk Southern and CSX.
Great video once again Captain. I know those piles of stones as railroad ballast. Be safe Happy New Years!!!
The Duke is everywhere. Side note: I'm just like you with heights.
I LOVE STEVE WALLIS what a small world, really didn’t expect a camping with Steve reference 🥳
Thanks for making these. I always used to cruise around up there when I worked in Harrogate. Bridesburg might be the best neighborhood in Philadelphia
Railroad cops are known as bulls.
This video was in my recommended list.
Subscribed. Keep em coming!
I lived and worked in Philly 17 years. It's still a 4th World dump. I now live permanently in Costa Rica.🏖
I used to run through the Meadows back when I ran cross country for North Catholic. I so miss the chance to walk through and get into those "off the sidewalk" places. Every moment you are there makes me feel like you are going to be murdered. It's always good to be with a friend when you explore those places. Things can turn south real fast.
Hunker Down!
Lived there 30 years it's really sad to see some of the properties that are gone or ruined
Don't worry, I have that same issue with heights.
Do you fear for your safety?
Afraid of heights coming from the guy who sits in section 301 at the bank haha
I used to go on the top of the house I grew up in to try to get over my fear of heights (the door was right next to the edge of the roof) Didn't work
Even though it Doesnt look so good here lived in Philly 35yrs best place I ever lived
Camping with Steve!
first prize in Paris-Roubaix bike race is a sett
We Were born and raised on The Conrail Tracks as kids in the 90s But Crossed that bridge 1 Time and Train Came hada run bk to Philly side and jump to the side Never Did that Again
That whole secret camping shit is just practice for being homeless
I agree! And after being homeless for almost 2 years I can definitely say that I have NO DESIRE to go camping EVER AGAIN!
Ditto for "van life" lifestyles too.
Captain we better not be fretting about the cold, we got all the balmy joy of January and February to endure yet! Lol
God knows how many homeless souls the cold bitter nights shall claim.
🖤 Peace
HUNKER DOWN !!!!! Love steve. ❤️
We got caught on train tracks a few times. Those train track security guards are not messing around. They would scare the shit out of us. Screaming and chasing us off.
I watch camping with Steve hunker down
Hunker down Captn
5:06 holy swastika captain - I wish all of the "cool" kids would find or invent a new symbol to graffiti someday, because how lame.
Very interesting. Wonder if that is a good spot for Fishing or are the Fish toxic? Be safe hon. 😻
