    This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

    Watching a table being born from a simple sketch on a piece of paper and taking shape into a fine young white oak table, ready for whatever adventures life outside might hold. Music at the end was emotional.

    Why he is glueing the dovetail batten? As far as I know it should be sliding to be able to compensate the shrinking.

    • @hentaisan
      @hentaisan 4 года назад

      the dovetail cleat that's attached to the tabletop is not glued. he also used dovetails to attach the perpendicular pieces on the frame. it doesn't matter that those are glued because they are only like 80mm wide. Also, the pieces attached together have the grain oriented in the same direction so if they expand they expand together

    • @HerrKlaus1963
      @HerrKlaus1963 4 года назад

      @@hentaisan thanks! It's a bit confusing, at 12:45 there's no glue, but after the cut only seconds later there is some! Or at least it seems to be glue.

    • @hentaisan
      @hentaisan 4 года назад +1

      @@HerrKlaus1963 at 13:20 the inserts at the end of the dovetail grooves are glued, but those are just for aesthetics. The cleat is not glued. BTW, seeing as how the insert goes all the way to the cleat, I assume he left a gap between the insert and the cleat on the other side of the table. Unless he's doing this during winter

    • @HerrKlaus1963

    I love everything he does, but can you stand on it? I make stuff, and people bring it broken. I can see the shoe prints, but I ask anyways, "What happened." People say, "I don't know. It just broke." Then I point out the shoe prints, and say "It's a coffee table, not dance table." Then they get huffy, and say, "It should support the weight of a person." I then I point out there are at least three different shoe prints. They still want there money back. I say no. They ask how much it would cost to fix? I say, "I don't know know, how much does four ciderblocks cost?" I then tell the guy, "Give it to me, I'll what I can do." The guy wants it back by Monday. I call his wife's Cell phone, and tell her, that her husband broke her coffee table, and want me to fix it by Monday "Are you away for the Weekend?" She tells me she at her mothers, and ask me if I can fix her table. I say, "Sure I can.", but there Women she prints embeded in the table. Do you want want me to remove them, or do you want them for evidence." She swears a bit, and ask me if I can hold onto the table a bit. I tell her I have an exact copy of the table, I give that one to her husband, and she can come and look at the table. The woman show up that Wednesday, and looks at the table. She tells it was her shoe that made the prints in the table. She thinks her husband had a girlfriend in the house, while she was away. I don't see the woman for about two months, and I call her phone. She shows up with my table, and tells me that her husband doesn't have a girlfriend. She tells me, it was her husband wearing her shoes. He's a cross dresser. I say, at least he doesn't have a girlfriend. She says, "Yeah, just a boy friend." She has been suspecting her husband had secrets, and put up a spy camera. I'm surprised because her husband is big guy, and I know he played football (He tells everyone about it.). She tells me, "Yeah, all those guys have one foot through the door." I fixed her table, and she seems happy. I'm surprised, I like the work I do, but if my marrage is breaking up, I wouldn't be happy over a coffee table. She asked me why the table broke, because the replacement I gave her didn't break when she had sex on the table. I asked her, "How much could you possible weigh, a hundred pounds? Your much lighter than your husband." She then said, "I wasn't dancing either." I asker if she might want a craftmans coffee table I make. It can hold three people easy, and it has plently of room." The woman thinks about it, and I show her the table. She buys the table, and ask, "Are you sure it will hold two people." I thow a moving blanket on the table, and we both stand on it. She happy. I love your work, but I don't think three people could stand on it.
