Eco Heat Scam for Space Heater, Explained (2023)

- People are searching online for the words Eco Heat scam because they want to know if it's legit and they want to see reviews. Here's the deal. There are a lot of ads out there in late 2023 for small, plug-in heaters that all look the same and are the size of night light. The Eco Heat product is simply a rebranding of what apparently is a cheap, mass-produced product that comes from China. Nowhere on the physical product does it say the words Eco Heat. That's because it's a generic product and people keep rebranding it in order to hike up the prices to try to convince customers into buying one. Whether it's 500 watts or 800 watts, you're better off going with a trusted brand like Honeywell for a 1500-watt heater purchased from Target, a trusted retailer. I bought a 1500-watt heater from Target for $43. The Eco Heat product is apparently $49.99 for one, and has about one-third the heating power of the Honeywell one I mentioned.
The Eco Heat scam is the same thing that also went around in late 2022 that claimed to be a small, plug-in space heater that could be portable and would be able to heat up a whole room or house. Don't believe the RUclips paid placements that claim that a genius came up with the Eco Heat heater, as it's a lie.
Since scammers are using AI to scam people, I am using it to help people with the following that was written by ChatGPT: In the vast realm of online commerce, the product Eco Heat has raised eyebrows as users increasingly search for it accompanied by the term scam. The skepticism stems from the revelation that Eco Heat, often marketed as an innovative heating solution, is a mass-produced product originating from China. This inexpensive device has reportedly been cunningly rebranded to create an illusion of exclusivity and superior functionality, preying on unsuspecting consumers.
Numerous complaints suggest that Eco Heat fails to meet the quality standards advertised, leaving customers dissatisfied with their purchase. Some even allege deceptive marketing practices and questionable durability. As a result, consumers are advised to exercise caution and consider alternative options.
Prominent among these alternatives is the trusted brand Honeywell, which offers a range of reliable heating solutions. Purchasing from established retailers ensures authenticity and support, safeguarding consumers from potential scams.
Furthermore, misleading clips preceding RUclips videos have emerged, falsely depicting the invention and capabilities of Eco Heat. These deceptive tactics only reinforce the importance of thorough research and reliance on reputable brands to make informed purchasing decisions. Наука
Here's a link to that Honeywell heater I bought from Target. I get zero commission if you buy one: www.target.com/p/honeywell-digital-ceramic-compact-tower-heater-black/-/A-53618740.
Whatever happened to being able to sue for false advertisement LOL... but on the other side that little heater would probably heat a very very very very very very small airtight weatherproof room... or if you live in a small airtight insulated cardboard box... that would probably heat it
The ad just played on your video.
I actually saw the add, then being skeptical, I searched for reviews on RUclips and yours was the one i clicked. :-) thanks for the information. ❤
The same product found with different names is a convenient way to avoid accountability for product claims that are outright lies. Consumer agencies would take them down if they were a single company doing this, so it's easier for the scammers to do it via smaller businesses that can open, sell, and fold more quickly than the agencies that are supposed to protect us can deal with. Hopefully a reckoning will soon come to these criminals scamming people scared about heating costs. One thing I've learnt... Never trust ANYTHING advertised on youtube. There is almost no oversight or checking done.
As I watch this video I’m literally seeing the exact same heater device being advertised on top of the sidebar under the name ‘Life Heater’ lol
An item very similar to this is on sale at my local cheap shop for £6.99. Appears to be the same item but with different packaging.
Engineer here. A standard 120V 15A plug has a maximum power output of 1.8 kW. There are 3412.142 Btuh per kW. Most space heaters you get at Target are rated for 1.5 kW which would convert into 5120 Btuh. No matter how much you spend on a 1.5 kW space heater they will output the same amount of heat. The only real difference between them is that done if them have a fan.
In this case the heaters are much less than those 1.5 kW units and therefore will produce much less heat. For the same price you might add will just get a normal 1.5kW space heater from target and not have to wait for shipping from China.
So what you are saying is I would save more just by using a kerosene heater?
@someguyto4675 I have not done any calculations based on kerosene heaters or how they relate to an electric heater. It would likely depend on your local electricity rate as well as the cost of the kerosene. I will leave this calculation as an exercise for the reader.
@@SeaOtterGamer I was just making stuff up. But it does make sense.
@@someguyto4675 Fair enough, but who am I to deny someone the awesome heating performance of kerosene. Stay warm this winter!
KFC food worker here.
There's no such thing as an inefficient heater, as all electricity going into an electric heater will end up a heat. Of course, heaters can be more effective that others, so the fan may give the impression of being more efficient than non-fan heaters.
The question is why does YT keep advertising this load of rubbish all the time with a product that could literally burn your house down!
I reported that type of ads repeatedly as being a scam, blocked the ad each time it popped up ... can confirm YT doesn't give a flying monkey's hoot about it, they only want the cash
It probably has a thermal fuse In It and probably the only thing In that works well
Oh it works, it heats up... the scam is that the wattage is not enough to heat up a room, more like a closet (what's the point) or to hang it over your desk and have the heat blow down on your hands. It's just a very very small little heater. There might be other applications for it, but can't imagine them right now. Even heating up your toilet rapidly wouldn't really be possible with this, go for at least 500W or 750W
To quote Mr. Crabs: MONEY!
I found this exact same product on AliExpress for £5. The scammers selling these are charging ten to twelve times that: £50 to £60.
DO THEY WORK ?
I just purchased one and it heated my whole neighborhood. People were so pissed off for buying one they started throwing Molotov cocktails at each other's house. The outside temperature went up in two
Minutes. 🔥🏠🔥🏠🔥🏠

I read this on another video, but it's still gold.
I heard rumours, one of these started all those fires in Canada.
@ianemery2925
Yes your right. And they just announced today they have a sneaking suspicion it could be responsible for the Maui fires we won't know for a few days yet. But it's not looking good for that company
😅😅😅😅😅😅
They even felt it in Iceland, their volcanoes heated up too much!
😂😂😂 halfway through your video an ad for "WellHeater" came up by creators Edward Warren and David Whothefook
- strange as I found your video after searching about a WellHeater ad that was created by Matthew and Steven!!!? and one of them was Indian in the first one with glasses and a lab coat
My parents received one as a gift ... can confirm it's only good to put next to you on your desk to heat your hands ... usually 350 to 750W with a crappy ventilator so not enough power to heat a whole room, certainly not quickly
what Is strange Is how many different people Invented It, I wonder who will be the next Inventer of It?
Tom Edison
It's such an amazing innovation that dozens of prodigies each independently invented the exact same device. Each with a dramatic heartwarming story.
With all those big companies expelling them from school they got to keep inventing the same thing to stick it to those corpos
As soon as it claimed to bring a room up to 21 degrees from 10 in just 2 minutes It became obvious that it was a load of old bollex !
I never buy anything from these intrusive ads and if a product does tempt me I do the research and if it sounds good I look for a reputable source to purchase it from. Adverts have become more and more invasive in every aspect of life and it’s really starting to piss me off now.
I fell for it. It is like a toy. Despicable scam for those who are poor and want to save money. The instructions also warns you it might burst into flames!!!
They're evil for doing it, but damn dude, I can't believe you feel for it. That's why you're poor. The amount of heat you get out obviously depends on the amount of energy you use.
I fell for it (as opposed to feel) when it very first came out. The amount of heat you get is dependant on its power and it isn't much. And I ain't poor. I own four houses!
@@marshlightening sorry dude that was rude of me. I overdid it. Was just trying to say that any machine that promises to put out more energy than you put in is an obvious scam.
wattage relates to energy used, so you can't do 1500 watts of work for less that the same + losses, so this is a scam.
Just saw this ads in this video
Thank you. Saved me.
Thank you this was really useful. David
Both of mine have been running all day today, no fires 🔥 and no thrown circuits - my plug in electric fireplace heater always throws circuits
I really laugh at the add that says they sell straight to the consumer...and dont advertise, to save you money!!! As you watch 5heir advert pmsl
That's true I did see the ad I thought it was BS and then looked up if there were videos to call it B. S, and that's how I clicked on yours.
You should point out that heaters are basically 100% efficient as the losses are in terms of heat ... which is what it is for! Thus the wattage and any fan assist are the important points for space heating ... ie a cheap high and low (switchable) wattage known brand is all you will ever need. (in the UK a plug in fanned space heater can be 3kW with 2 or more switchable settings ... 240V @ 13amp).
The losses can only be in the form of sound from the fan as the heat from the losses in the motor ... is heat! (also any lights ... negligible)
Note that gas (in the UK) is much cheaper per kWh than electricity.
If you need to keep yoursrlf warm a radiant heater may be more efficient for you as it will direct the heat directly at you and not waste electricity heating the rest of the space.
A space heater may be useful to take the chill of a room you are about to use when you come home and switch the heating on ... but don't leave it on!
If the house heating is expensive then reduce the heat in all but the living room. The kitchen has its own heating from cookers etc. Bedrooms do not require much if any heating.
Living rooms maintain their heat because of the electrical equipment, like TVs, just touch the screen to feel (although LED TVs do not now give out much heat). The people in the room also help maintain the heat in the room. If you are sitting down then your feet will get cold first ... so extra socks or a blanket over your feet and legs will help. If you start to get cold ... go to the kitchen and make some tea ... the very fact you have moved about will warm you (and your feet) up.
It is very easy to feel cold even when the room is 20C (68°F) or over!
These are observations made because I am getting older, have poor circulation and, like everyone, have to monitor utility costs carefully.
I was already pretty convinced that this was a marketing scam, but I came here looking for confirmation. Thing is - I know that V=IR and that Volts x Amps = Watts, but I have seen these adverts so many times now that I started to wonder if there was something to them that I was missing. I didn't think so, but if it should turn out that I was wrong, well.... it wouldn't be the first time in my life!
The heater unit has an electric element in it that has a certain resistance. That's the thing that gets hot and can sometimes be seen glowing red. The resistance can be measured (in Ohms) with a multimeter - something that most households have. Once the resistance is known, then the current that goes through it can be worked out from V = IR, where R is the resistance you just measured, V is the national voltage (230 Volts in the UK and most of Europe; 110 V in America). "I" is the current, measured in Amps. So now, we have the current and the voltage, and Watts (heating power) is volts x amps. That's a scientific law. There is no "genius" who can manipulate that. A certain heater has a certain resistance, so it produces a certain heat. That heat would make the unit melt unless it got rid of that heat, so it has a fan to blow the heat out of it, but even at that, if the fan should ever fail, the unit would quickly heat up to a dangerpous level - enough to set things on fire.
My 9-year-old grandson has just come in from his swimming lesson, and I called him in to ask what he thought of it. We looked at the advert, and he said "but it's just a resistor!" I couldn't have put it more succinctly. It's just a resistor - for £69 !
Like the over abundance of Chinese audio companies that have fake amp ratings for car audio😊
@@samholdsworth420 It seems to be the way that marketting is done these days - the object of the exercise is to make money. Customer satisfaction is an ever-dwindling object of the sale. When compared withy offering quality, a good con is cheaper to produce than quality is!
Another one si the number of lumens advertised for torches (flashlights) - frequently thousands of times more than reality.
I knew it was a scam when it said a genus student reverse engineered a heating unit so well that a big business had him expelled from school ha ha.
@@geijienduro7610 The way it's being advertised, I surmise that it's a pretty successful scam!
Ironically I got an ad for one of these crappy heaters whilst watching this video
Ironically the first advert was indeed the same heater !!!
Sounds like an invitation to the fire department to me... :)
I bought 2 of these eco heaters (from amazon) for $21.98, rather than the popular advertised $70 each. Mine are 400 watts and work great 👍🏻 maybe not as great as advertised, but are great when sitting next to them. AND I LIVE IN CHILI IDAHO‼️ i have dealt with these advertisements that sound too good to be true and charge 3 times more than amazon , products come from china and take two months to arrive - i have decided that if Amazon doesnt sell it, I dont need it
What got me is they use the Tesla logo in the advert
It was developed for use on the moon and on Mars
@@patrickcardon1643 are you the university kid that went against the major company’s ,,,! ? Wow so good to speak to you 🤣
@@aron666xparamor6 nah sorry, I guess you're talking about the guy tracking Elon's trips by plane? I'm just the nose-picking champion from across the pond
Yes right before your video there was 2 ads not 1 hahaha
I get the add for these fake heaters on YT constantly, there's nothing i hate more.
i have just bought one, its not bad but it literally kicks out less heat than a house hold candle. i paid £15
Oh the toasty heater that Steve the nasa engineer invented lmao
very useful.. lots of information explained very clearly
Typical thing an ignorant woman would say; Its a shame Einstein is dead, mind this would have probably killed him with shock... no matter what you use, 1kW of energy is 1Kw of energy, through a radiator, electric fire or any heater, electric kettle, tumble dryer including this piece of rubbish, you cannot get energy for nothing,if you could I would be rich, this is a total scam....
Alphabet have made it unnecessarily difficult to report video ads on their RUclips platform
Its not the size of a nightlight, its huge
There's loads of adverts all saying the same thing "here's what (insert name) don't want you to know" all the same advert style so probably by the same scammers. Don't click their links, do your research for yourself even if it's for a low cost product, these people live off missleading people with bogus claims. Would you want to trust your home and family to any electrical component from such people?
The advert before and during this video was for one of these crappy heaters. The video before this one was also preceeded by an advert for this crap
Where's the law to stop these frauds?
Ummm look, not being rude, the last thing you really need to be talking about is watts! Efficiency is not in your wheelhouse, and honestly the difference in heaters is astronomical!
Of course it’s a scam.
The instant the adverts come on you know its a scam. Everything in the advert is a complete lie. This thing will set your house on fire.
I ordered two and was charged for three. It’s a piece of junk!
its is 100% a cheap scam. beware
You elite heating industry MSM shill
I was suckered as well
its a piece of crap.. does not heat a closet
The advertisement was about this heating scam you speaking now 😂😢😮😅
Before the starting your video and there is 2 advertisment
Both second want jayson make better heater then the previous one hahaha
Lumiwarm they named it lumiwarm or something
Experrts saying is the best for you , they sold 300 000 haha regularly price 99.99 but is on discount exclusive for you for 50 😂
A review of a product you don’t have🧐
It was helpful, but without testing it you are just basing what you say on what is on the internet, which you are warning us about doing! It is way too long.
when will RUclips clamp down on these false Adverts???
I got an ad for one of these heaters on this video 😂
Brilliant if you live in a shoebox 👍
Yep.
This sign .. £ is a pound sign as in British pounds, the currency of the United Kingdom... you seem to be struggling with it!
Stop telling lies this item is. A scam
So you call this a review are you having laugh,to me a review is when you have actually tested the product yourself then review it correctly, anyone can throw up a mic and stick a few images on the screen and call it a so called review..
You shop at Target? You a Liberal? See Ya
