My grandfather won an original Xbox with the Jsrf/Sega GT dual disc after buying a 12 pack of soda. Him not having any interest in video games, gave it to 6 year old me. I played Sega GT once and got so bored, but when i played JSRF my whole world shifted into this funky, colorful, "i do what makes me feel good" kind of thing. Team Reptile has successfully recreated this feeling in 26 year old me and I cant thank them enough. Its not perfect but as a homage and sort of successor to the Jsr series, its the Jsr3 Ive been waiting so long for 😀
A tip for anyone on keyboard and mouse, remap slide to right click, and style switch to middle mouse, and put trick 1 ,2, and 3, on mouse 1, 4, and 5. I found it way easier to chain manuals, perform boost tricks, and swap styles mid combo. a tip for everyone is that boost tricks allow you to travel further for jumps and resets your manual time so you can cover huge distanced of flat ground without breaking combos.
At 8:01 you make the thelema hexagram, I hope is just a coincidence. I used to play a lot of JSRF since it came with my Xbox along with Sega GT 2002 which was alright. It seems they did a good job on this tribute, I alway loved the look of the cities, specialy Rokkaku-dai Heights, it gave me a lot of dystopian vibes.

I do kinda wish there were more animations for both tricks and attack combos (for example you can use the graffiti button to stun enemies, but having different graffiti attack combos would be really cool imo) and I also hope they eventually add a camera reset button since R3 is completely unused at the moment

I don't even remember when that feeling of skepticism went away. It really just felt like playing an old childhood game again for the first time. I absolutely love this game enough to the point that I'd call it JSR3. I may have some minor nitpicks about it, but they're really nothing a sequel can't fix and improve on.

I could never get into JSR because of how it controlled as Tony Hawk Pro Skater fan. But already spent 20 hours in Bomb Rush and I really loved it, so I do think it transcends being attached to JSR, in terms of controls anyway.
Kept the perfect balance to keep the game rooted and not making it too deviant and extreme. Out of the 40 years on gaming JSR series is the best platforming game. Thabks for your review.
Just a quick thing you forgot to mention: there are WAY more artists than Naganuma who contributed to the soundtrack! Sure, his songs are highlights, but. the rest are all fantastic. (except for condensed milk. I hate that one it just sounds stupid.)

The grafitti is miles ahead of JSR/F, it's quick and satisfying. Realistically there's nothing that JSR/F do as games that Bomb Rush doesn't do better. All City King.
