Mark my words this slow riff style will take over mainstream music as the goal is time listened and the best way to do that is slow the song down and lengthen it. Slowed and reverb is already a booming genre amongst teens when they start making music thats what they will draw inspiration from. They are also have the incentive to do so with the current model of music being released.

Since Sleep I can't say their is a Heavy Metal band that really matters. I love music, I love Rock 'n Roll, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Bo Didley, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and on and on I grew up on. I am an original head banger and Heavy Metal fan. My three favorite bands in order are Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden. That order is because I heard Black Sabbath first, Judas Priest second, and Iron Maiden third. Sleep belongs with them as a great of Heavy Metal.

Hahahahaha calling this hipster metal is the most absurd take. Just because it's underground doesn't make it hipster. And it's not even that underground anymore. Sleep is a very well known and well respected band that's influenced countless modern metal bands, and pretty much the entire stoner metal scene. Hipster metal is more among the lines of Deafheaven, and I say that as a massive fan of both bands
Best way to listen to this album is in the car on a long drive and the volume cranked.
I'd say the best to listen to this album is while smoking weed outside with bare feet and the volume at max.

I saw Swans on their last tour, and we got 7 songs over the course of 3 hours. The first was about 45 minutes.
