Yes mee too. They leave a few for months until they get big and slow. Then eat them one day when their nice and plump

i didn't read all of these comments, but wanted to say the Turtle Girl said she rescued the blind turtles and doesn't know what kind of fish pecked out their eyes. she apparently keeps her turtles with convict cyclids.

I’m so sorry about your doggie. I just lost one of mine to cancer and then found out my other dog has the same cancer but thankfully it hasn’t spread so she can get surgery but will need special things the rest of her life. It’s very rough losing a furry friend. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. 🙏🏼💙

I keep tiger barbs, zebra danios, and neon tetras. My boys haven't eaten one in months.

My 4 turtles when I was little allowed minnows to live with them for about a week, then they’d get bored and over time start tearing away at its fins and then when it can’t swim anymore they’d eat the fish
Mosquito fish also make great live barriers plus in a outside enclosure they help control the mosquito population. I would also agree with getting small fast fish specially in tanks. In my younger turtle keeping days I had a 60 gallon tank with two African side necks and some tropical fish one being a large Baja shark (I think that's what they are called.) they lived together for 6 months and I thought they were all good since the fish was almost the length of the turtle but one morning I came down and the fish was ripped to shreds bc one of the turtles caught up to him. Fast small fish are the best bet but definitely anticipate a couple will get picked off now and again. I have even seen African side necks eat a frog anything they can catch and fit in their mouth they will try to eat. Sorry about your dog bud, they are part of our family it's never easy. Just try to think about the awesome 12 years of a great life you gave him.
Once my turtles got to 6 inches I put convict fry in with them, they ate some and the ones that are now adults breed like guppies and they’re only 3-4 inches and they don’t bother the turtles at all and I can tell my turtles are a lot more entertained since I put them in

All of my Turtles grew up with fish in their enclosures so at this point 3 years in, I have 9 differing Turtles all living with differing fish to include: Denison Barbs, Tiger Barbs, Buenos Aires and Columbian Tetras, Salvini, Rio Grande, Koi, Corydoras, Pearl, Blue and Gold Gourami's and Pleco's and Algae Eaters; and Endlers. My smallest Turtle is a Ouachita Map & largest is a Common Snapper.
My midland painted turtle will leave my guppies alone for a while and then in one night she will wipe them out. I think she lulls them into a false sense of security lol. I keep 3 guppy tanks to replenish the turtle tank when needed.
I have guppies with my musk turtle. Started with 8 now I have to many to count. About a week ago with my turtle was eating some pellets the guppies where eating the bits that she was dropping. Normal. I looked back and my musk had a fish in her mouth. She ate it whole. It was crazy.
When you keep fish with turtles. The water tends to kill my fish. Idk why. I do water changes every 4 days. And dechlorinate the water. And condition with fish conditioner. Using the fish conditioner is that harming my musk turtle? I have a 55 gallon tank, with 1 musk turtle. Already tried 6 guppies about a year ago, and they all died within 3 days. Turtle ate 2, other 4 i found floating dead. Water parameters? Idk. Water temp stays at 73-78 F degrees. I had a air pump with air stone, but now i removed it since I lost motivation to keep fish with my turtle. I have another baby yellow bellied turtle in a 20 gal tank as well.
I'd say the water parameters likely are an issue! Perhaps it isn't fully cycled yet. I would get an API test kit and see

Great video. I love to add guppies to my 125gal that way if a I wait a day in between feeding they still have snacks. Lol

Right not focusing on making a plants take over in my turtle tank and getting my hands on some frog bit and few others. Next mission add some quick live bearers fingers crossed.

I had a large fish with my 2 sliders, next day I seen them tearing it apart, they didn’t attack my rainbow sharks though
I put 5 cerean fish i got in sewer, in 80*30*30 cm tank (water in 24 cm)
RES chase them about 10 minutes and they give up,
After 23 days, only one survive. 4 die, either eaten or heart attack.
I do put them as live food for my RES.
I've had good success with tiger barbs, with my Mississippi map turtle
What about danios? I realize they arent live bearers but can they work? They are super fast.

I'm so sorry about your dog :( I know what it feels like. Just always remember the heart break will ease with time so grieve all you need because it helps to let it out and gets the healing process to ease quicker. :( :( try to keep your brain occupied that helps also!

how are your turtles not eating up those plastic plants? its been quite annoying that i cant use them to break up line of sight especially now that i have a similar 100-110 gal stock tank for my RES (who tore up/ate them anytime it was tried)

Question Dan-We are upgrading our yellow bellied slider to a 50 gallon storage container/tank since it’s time. We need to get a better filter and I was all for a canister filter but I saw you mention that those don’t work well if your storage container can’t be put above the filter (ours will HAVE to be placed on the floor). I don’t have a ton of money and I’m wondering what you suggest for a good quality but still affordable filter for a 50 gallon storage Rubbermaid-type of container that will be placed on the ground.
