Thank you! I inherited a really old stinkpot turtle. Poor fella has had a not so great life so I'm trying to get a proper tank setup going for him but have no clue what I'm doing. Took me long enough just to figure out what kind of turtle he even was 🤦♂️. Anyways this was very helpful.
Take a good sport drink mix , or metamusil container A screw on lid type Mount a pond pump in the lid , you will need to cut the plug off and put a new one , to pass the wire thru a small hole drilled in the lid Drill Many holes or ... Cut the bottom of the container open , 4 pie shapes leaving a cross member for support Make one bioball bag and one charcoal sack for filter medium Makes an awesome submersable filter And moves water like a MUTHA
Hey, what’s your filter I’ve been having trouble with filters for my 20 gallon long. I just tried out an EX70 and it did not work for me so I’m looking for filters
I just use a hang on back filter. Aquaclear 50. I do weekly water changes and monthly complete system clean so a hang on back seems much easier for me to clean.
Hello guys, how often does your musks bask ? I have 1 musk (2 years now) and she really enjoys staying under water and pretty much ignores the basking area most of the time. Yes she can climb easily, all temperatures uvb light are ok, was just wondering.
One of them (bucket silly) sunbathe quite often. Almost everyday, usually around noon when no one is around. The other one (Chloe) does it very, very rare. I believe their dark coloration absorb light even when they arent directly under the light.
@@RGBAquatics Thank you I guess there's a huge myth arround this and musk. Another thing that can be important is the slight variation of them. Mine likes to hover near the light but it won't come out yes. Definitly we need more musk content ! looking forward to see more from you.
Does it eat when you're not around at least? If it doesn't even eat when you're not around you can try quarantining and adding Turtle Fix or a calcium block if he's showing any signs of sickness like bleeding in the nose, lethargy in its movement, etc. If sickness isn't the case then try giving it live food first, and see if the movement of mealworms or earthworms will catch its attention. Not eating is usually the case for new turtles and may take some time, but if it goes on long without success, you might have to take it to a vet.
