This is all depends at what you're shooting at. A stationary fixed target or a moving target, airborne (Clay Bird). I would want a higher pattern if shooting at a clay bird, as most trap guns shoot. The target is rising and by the time the shooter gets on the target, pulls the trigger and fires off the shot, the bird has risen that much higher. A 60/40, 70/30 or even 90/10 pattern is common for clay shooting, mostly trap. This way you can hold under the bird and fully see it without blocking it out of sight with your barrel. Upland field guns can shoot flatter patterns, but I still like a wee higher pattern so I can see the pheasant above my barrel.
Great video. I just bought this gun and I’m new to shotguns in general. Can you make a video explaining what the different chokes are used for and how to change them out? Thanks man!
I would rather do 5-6 shots at 15 yds distance at separate 3" circles drawn on a 2x4' piece of cardboard using Full choke then see where the center of pattern tends to go.
So I got a 12 gauge element on Black Friday that had no shim on it at all In the box (It had to be initially assembled) unless I put one from the Included kit in it. My first go with it With no shim at all I was shooting low. do you know what the comb drop value is if there is no shim at all? What should I put in as a first shim to try to bring the pattern a little higher?
@@chadamos7297 at first I took it out of mt franchi to see if I liked it the I went to midwest gunworks and got mine there. Here's a link. www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/50690
@@buckingduckwyo thank you. Just ordered one. I really like the franchi elite handle but it looked a little different at the tip then original affinity. Cheers
I originally took it out of my franchi as they are the same design and I like the bigger handle better. Once I tried it and found it fit perfect and never came out or had issues I ordered a new one from franchi and put it in.
Do you have a gap where the stock has the little u shape cutout behind the trigger guard? I shimmed mine because it was shooting 40/60 low and now I have a gap and the taper of the grip to receiver is no longer flush, creates an edge. Kinda ruined how smooth it felt in the hand.
Slightly pull the bolt towards the rear of the action until you feel it start to move then pull straight out away from the action and it should come right out
Well done! You did it the right way. You are shooting a little bit high but this is perfect for upland hunting.
Agreed I would prefer it down a bit but with the results I got with the shims I had I felt thay was the best pattern

Thanks for the video! I love my Element 20ga. 65 shim works great for me.
Appreciate it!
Just got the weatherby element so far so good !!
You should be happy with it! It's a great gun.

Sure can!
What side to I put the shim locking plate on ? It has A-R / B-L and so forth ??

I would agree except I have seen different chokes effects different shells differently

What charging handle is on your element
The same one franchi uses in their stock shotguns. I liked having the oversized handle and liked having it be rounded and not flat
How/where were you able to find an interchangeable handle like franchis?

Hey man good job on the vid. I have 3 weatherby's. Lol. 2 20ga and 1 12ga. Where did you get the bolt handle?

Was it a specific franchi, or will anyone fit? Just purchased the same weatherby and would love that charging handle

What brand is that bolt handle
Its a stock franchi affinity handle
What choke tubes fits the weatherby element
Browning Invector, which Winchester and Mossberg also use. PLAIN old invector not the invector plus.
What David said the investor chokes
how do you remove the bolt handle on Weatherby Element shotgun?
Slightly pull the bolt towards the rear of the action until you feel it start to move then pull straight out away from the action and it should come right out
