    why did the pilot turn off the autopilot just before touching down? Isn't that something you would do way earlier(at around 1000ft RA)?

    • @daylight3640
      @daylight3640 Год назад

      This was a CATII approach, wich means pilot should disconnect the autopilot 80 feet about airport elevation, this is company rules.

    Good procedure policies by your company that turn off autopilot at 80. Good job, use that technology dont fly manual again

      Because it was a CAT 2 dual simulated landing, you have to disconect autopilot over 80 feets, it is company police.

      We need to do simulated CAT II and sometimes even CAT III autoland for maintenance requirements to keep the aircraft certified. This has to be done at specific intervals.

      @Rhinozherous Год назад +1

      Autolands also need training, it is common to do it in good from time to time to refresh the procedures.... And it is no CATIII landing, they disconnected AP at around 80ft.

    Sooo pathetic to turn off the autopilot at the very last seconds before touchdown. Seriously, I´ve always thought it requires special skills to fly an airliner but sometimes I wonder if it´s the complete contrary.

    • @Alexgibbo5

    • @wilco4183
      @wilco4183 Год назад +1

      We need to do simulated CAT II and sometimes even CAT III autoland for maintenance requirements to keep the aircraft certified. This has to be done once every month or so, I believe. That's not what is normally regularly done. Take a breather, landing is not the special skill we need, by the way.
