I don't know why this ending makes me cry for them. This was the perfect song. I'm going to watch all of the movies and series because I honestly believe they were abused. There's only so much a person can take and telling others people back and even today are reluctant to believe. The dad even said he was abused so it continued ......
There’s something about that one line in the song: I’m gonna miss you. Just hits hard
they played this song at their parents funeral
This was NOT the perfect song for this ending! They already eluded in the series that they had a sort of Incest relationship, and the song is about two lovers splitting up and going they’re own ways 🤦🏾
How@@rowlaanbennett7296
@@rowlaanbennett7296 I know that’s what I was kinda like uhh this a weird choice
For them to be separated was a fate worse than death.
They back together now but not as close after not being together for 10 years
@@l1vortex1l One thing that is admirable about them in a strange way is their love and loyalty towards each other. When many other tandem couples commit crimes they turn on each other either in court or the aftermath blaming each other for planning it or pulling the trigger or what have you.
For example, Judd Gray and Ruth Snyder instantly turned on each other the moment the pressure was on. While they were theatrical, the movies The Postman Always Rings Twice and Double Indemnity which were inspired by the case show exactly how the prosecution pressured them and how quickly they threw one another under the bus which didn't work since they were both executed.
Another more recent example is Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo. Her testimony against him and characterization of herself as an innocent victim being led by him was so successful that she eventually was released and lives under a different name while he's still in prison.
If they don't do that, they still want as little to do with each other as possible.
For example Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme were ordered never to contact each other ever again and it got to the point that even long after they were released and eventually moved to different parts of Britain living within two countries of each other, they not only obeyed that order but didn't want to contact each other remaining tight lipped about their past relationship. They didn't sling mud against each other but were clearly not interested in reopening that chapter of their lives by reuniting either.
Another duo that happened to was Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold. As far as I know, they didn't turn on each other in court but they were sentenced to the same prison and never communicated with each other even up to Loeb's death. Leopold's autobiography is very detached in describing his former partner and he admitted that even he couldn't remember what drew him towards Loeb.
Lyle and Erik both remained fond of each other admitting fill responsibility and continued to maintain that the murders were an act of loyalty and love of each other. Lyle even said that if he had to do it over again, he wouldn't have killed their parents just exposed them so they could never hurt Erik. Their reunion was reportedly very teary and happy. So it's a very interesting contrast between their relationship and other partners in crime.
I'm sure there are and were others with that kind of relationship but I can't think of too many.
@@l1vortex1lhow do you figure they’re not close
yea not sure where that statements coming from lol, im sure no matter how much time passes, after what they've been through, being close is automatic@@rowlaanbennett7296
@@rowlaanbennett7296 Eriks wife posted on Facebook that Erik and Lyle got into an argument when they were talking when they first saw each other Erik said they aren’t as close anymore some people think it’s because of eriks current wife though

They are not innocent. They did murder their parents.
@@MakimaScum-v4p yes they are innocent 😇

@@septembercourtney260They are both victims and killers.

Don't fall for it. Also.... lot of you young people don't even know about milli vanilli. (People who "sang" this song) look it up.
Ngl I was sad but we will never know 😭if it was true if they were abused
we know a lot more about post traumatic stress now, and having cptsd I fully recognize it in Erik, and mental health professionals say the same thing, there is no way that they would have been savvy enough to fake things like dissociation when it wasn't even understood by professionals.
We do tho…

Dude, they killed two humans. You are sick!!!!
Strictly speaking on a human level here, nevermind their actions separating them seems like cruel and unsual punishment.
I get it…but shotguns to their parents…
I agree they suffered enough
Their actions were pretty justified if you ask me.
Ahhh. The poor kids who murdered their parents for their money and $hit all over their names are sad? I'm crying over here.
@@markconiglio7769cmon bru they were sexually abused have some sympathy
I was waiting for vans to go in opposite directions any minute and when it did happen i broke in tears 💔 it was probably the last time they could see each other before the reunion after 20+ years. Can’t imagine how painful that would’ve felt knowing you probably never gonna see your brother again 💔💔 i have a sister and just a thought of never seeing her truly hurts. I can’t imagine what it was like for them to endure on top of everything they’d lost already. Very heart wrenching scene 💔💔💔
Yea imagine how their moms older brother feels
You do know they murdered their parents in cold blood, right? I have a feeling you were not alive when this all really happened. They were 100% guilty.
I thought this song suited the ending scene perfectly. If you just pay attention to the lyrics and not the romantic meaning of the song. Like "it's a tragedy for me to see the dream is over" could be interpreted as their dream was to finally end the abuse and be able to move on in their lives but it didn't go as planned and now they are sentenced to life in prison, seperated.
Don't forget this line too "I'm gonna miss you" indeed....they will have to wait years before they can see each other again....😢but at least, they're together today👍
Don't forget "Couldn't change your point of view, you're leaving.." - When I hear this I think of the jury and court that didn't believe the brothers that expressed their pain in acting out.

Funny. We are about the same age. Yet, growing up, we all knew they did it for the money. Watching their fake acts on court tv. You really fell for that bullcrap? I'm going to guess you think voting for a certain politician is really going to change things.
In this scene I viewed them as brothers being separated and I liked their expressions. Esp the ending moment where Lyle sees the other car disappear and you can see him broken. He doesn't even ask 'where' like Erik does. Because he realizes that maybe he will never see Erik again.
Lyle was more mature and was a part of a Hispanic prison gang Erik was always innocent like a child
Absolutely true 👍
Both of them are married, Erick since the 90's. I think this helped them to keep on tracks even being separated.
Also, they managed to reunite again. The serie could have showed this part when they reunite.
But the end would not have the same impact..
The milli vanilli revival we all didn't know we needed ❤❤❤❤❤

Imagine how their moms brother feels lol you people are weird
The most powerful scene in the whole series.
This scene broke me. Absolutely smashed it. The song and everything 😢
I felt the same; they can make you feel empathy and compassion for two killers, which is a glowing endorsement of the cast and crew.
Using this song in the beginning of the series, as an inappropriate song the brothers played at their parent’s funeral. And then playing the song again in one of the final, emotional scenes where they get separated… full circle. Such a good artistic choice.
This scene was very sad, in fact with this song that won't leave my head, even if they did wrong things, separating two united brothers is painful.
Killer!
The brothers only had eachother as family seeing them split up in the police vans really touched my soul it’s such a shame to see the only person who ever understood you and loved you being taken away for 22 years! Free Lyle an Erik ❤ one love brothers!!

@@sammyhiggs4202I haven’t watched the show, so I might be off base but I think in this case, “Monsters” has multiple meanings- not just the brutatlity of the act, but the parents, the people who knew and did nothing, the justice system and the media for dismissing and mocking their abuse claims, and seperating them as they did for so long.
Makes me appreciate my brother even more now😢

I have no idea why, I can't get this scene out of my head.
This is fucking awful. I don’t really cry at movies but this is making me bawl. Sexually abused by their father until they couldn’t take it anymore, then had to listen to a court tell them men can’t be sexually abused before being separated from the only person they ever really trusted
Man is the monster series always going to have bangers in every season
When you hear the lyrics: "Couldn't change your point of view...you're leaving.." - I think of the jury and court that didn't believe the brothers that expressed their pain in acting out.
Very complex tragic case but its as much about a cycle of abuse and a terrible outcome, but I believe the brothers were genuine in that they lived in fear of their parents. Definitely not the right response, but never estimate what a lifetime of abuse does to a person's development and how trauma affects the fight or flight response differently than it would a healthy young person or adult.
As a middle child to two brothers of mine, this was difficult for me, watching them get separated forever on such a bad note(prison)...
Are my abusive parents in Heaven? 🎉
If the Menendez brothers could do it all over again, what would they do differently, especially if they could have avoided Prison? 😢
Lyles face when he realises 😢
Did anyone feel sorry for them here ?
A little, but they still murderous.
Y’all I have found my new hyper-fixation. I have been so wrapped up in the case since this show that now it’s all I think about. And I don’t know why but this was so heartbreaking after all they did with and for each other to be forced apart 🥺
This was generally sad of course what they did was wrong, but I don’t think they should’ve been separated. I don’t care what the situation is being separated from your siblings is one of the worst feelings ever😔💔💯
At the end of the day no matter how horrible what they did their parents were the real monsters they made their lives living hells their father was disgusting

Ryan Murphy always kills it! The writing, the music- always AMAZING
I feel like their life sentence and getting separated was way worse than the death penalty. Literally kept fast-forwarding through the last episode in outrage as their lawyer wrote on the paper. So sad with how this ended for them. 😢
Mörder!
They have served long enough.
I totally agree. There are so many victims that did the same thing and didn't receive life sentences. If they were females, life sentences wouldn't have been issued. I am still watching all of the movies and series about them.
@@tolani2020 You are so right. I cannot stop thinking about them and I keep watching this youtube clips about them. I wish there was something we could do to help them.
Depressed why did that have to happen
I feel like life in prison was punishment enough, why did they have to be separated?
The use of Milli Vanilli-songs is spot on because in some way, the bands and the brothers stories are really quite similar. Both were used by powerful people they initially trusted, both lived lies for many years (lies for which they were not responsible) and both took the blame when everything fell apart. The public picked these men apart in the 90s and only now with the awareness of sexual and also racial abuse, people start to understand what was done to these people. And the fact that both stories happened at the same time - followed closely by OJ as also indicated by the show - says so much about the time. Very clever choice of songs indeed.
It’s funny how I just finished the movie. My twin brother moved out. I love him with all my heart, but he has always hated me. I don’t know why I gave him a home. I love him and when I seen this part that was us today’s separating that’s the worst thing that could happen to me and them, they were separated. God bless them. How is it that Gypsy Rose got for killing her mother but these guys can’t even get out that’s ridiculous. It’s so sad.
This is very sad...PLEASE FREE THESE MEN!
Free the brothers!

One of the saddest things ive seen in forever. Cant get this out of my head. So glad they are back together again though.
So so sad….this song made this scene great
What does Fab Morvan (surviving member of Mili Vanilli) think of their songs being used in this series?
He reposted some stories and even shared one himself, where this particular song was used. I’m not sure he watched the entire thing but it must feel flattering i guess for MV’s songs being used on such a big Netflix series.

Ryan Murphy may have made very questionable choices in all of his shows, this is nothing new. Glee, AHS, Scream queen etc, it can get very messy. But the music choices are always great, and it creates very powerful scenes. This reminded me a lot of the ending to AHS 1984 that uses ''The Living Years'', perfect ending and an unforgettable scene.

Yeah, this series would have some people all mixed up in their feels....but, two people were murdered and before anyone starts, you don't know me nor do y'all know the degree of incest molestation I had suffered as a child. I'm a 44 year old victor, no longer claiming victim. Without Yahweh God, anyone can allow satan to lure them into seeking revenge. I said what I said, so God bless.
Taking things on face value is a leap of faith within itself. Everybody grieves hills, different. It may not be revenge. Maybe they thought it was a way out and the only way out.

You mfs in the comment section cant be serious. Yall remember their therapist. He recorded them admitting to the crime. Now outta all those recordings after admitting to the crime when did these dudes ever say anything about physical abuse?????
I didn't realize how close they were to getting away with it.
1) Had Erik Menedez kept his mouth SHUT
2) Had Dr. Oziel not told his mistress or recorded them on tape
3) Had Attoreny Abrams not been abrasive to the men, likely would have gotten acquitted
4) Had Lyle not spoken to Norma.
Scary they could have gotten away.
No biggie but I just noticed a continuity error. We see Erik's van coming next to Lyle's, it emerges from the right hand side of Lyle. When the vans are next to each other, however, Erik is on left to Lyle. Good cinematography though. I doubt thays how it happened in reality but its good hollywood dramstization value.
