i guess im asking randomly but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my account password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Benjamin Israel thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
1. Spray with water 2. Sprinkle baking soda over all of the couch and rub in 3. Vacuum 4. Spray rubbing alcohol to disinfect 5. Spray with febreeze or a smell you like
You can always use an old spice jar after sanitizing it if it smells like spices add water and bleach leave it sit a while but when you use it it'll be new and you can use all those extra spice jars after being sanitized for all kinds of stuff from spices to beads buttons etc have a party lol
Purchased a sofa from FB and totally forgot to ask if it was from a non-smoking home and low and behold it smelled of smoke. I found your video and I'm pleased to say that sofa no longer smells of smoke!! I did remove the seat cushion covers and put them in the washer and added 1/2 cup of the baking soda along with the detergent. It worked beautifully...so Thank You! I would like to add that my sofa had a very strong smell of smoke so I saturated it pretty good with the baking soda and let it sit for 3 hours before I vacuumed it.
This is very helpful thank you! I found a chair I want on Marketplace, great condition and fairly cheap but from a smoke home. Wanted to make sure I could get the smell out before buying 😆
I tried this today with a big mattress that I got from my sister who's a big smoker, and it did WONDERS! I used the spray bottle with water and damped the mattress and then sprinkled baking soda all over it. Then I let it air out with the windows open, and a few hours later; 95% completely gone! I am definitely gonna have baking soda on hand from now on😄
My dog kept sneaking on the couch at night and we have guests coming over and I’m so happy this got the smell out. I was even avoiding sitting on it. Thank you❤
Another freshener that helps remove smell is peppermint essential oil which can be mixed with lavender, etc. and mix that with water in a glass sprayer bottle. Peppermint is good for deterring bugs near windows and doors as well. Just thought I would share ❤
Great tips. I don't use anything with essential oils because they can be harmful to animals. I also have sensitivity to certain oils/scents. One way to give a fresh smell without odors is to spray with 3% hydrogen peroxide. I use this on our bed pillows as well and toss into the dryer each week. I spray our mattress with the hydrogen peroxide and always put on ceiling fans to dry.
We have a small dog and I 100% swear by peroxide, especially when it comes to cleaning up pet accidents. Is the only way to get rid of that smell without the harmful effects of bleach
Thank you!! I have six pets right now and this made my couch smell wonderful. I use a bissel deep clean 1x month and doing this two weeks after did so much.
thank you for the tutorial. I have a living room set we got for our basement. we used to let people go down there in the winter when we had a gathering and smoke so they wouldn't have to be cold outside. I used your method to get the smoke smell off and revive our couches and chairs. seems to work. I also used a bissel little green machine the day after using your method, and the combo made the smoke smell undetectable. thank you so much
I know this will work for my couch without any issues because I have the same couch as yours 😂 it’s a hand-me-down for my first apartment so I’m not complaining and it’s comfy enough! Thanks ❤
Literally same I just bought a couch from someone on Facebook and he said that his dog didn’t really get on it but it literally smells so I’m gonna definitely try this out
Best place for baking soda is a large salt shaker... it allows for better coverage.. old glass or plastic ones are perfect... just add a couple pieces of unpopped popcorn or large grain rice to prevent soda from packing together as you shake it.. soda comes out finer and no where near as clumpy...
I got good results from your method. I paid a professional carpet cleaner $180 to clean my sofa and all I got was a clean smelly sofa. I was ready to throw it out which would have been very sad because I paid a lot for it. And to think, all I needed was some baking soda, a spritz of water and rubbing alcohol. Thank you for sharing. By the way, I let the baking soda set on the couch for a day and a half. It did the job. I'm about to share this on Facebook right now.

One thing you can do if you don't have a shaker is use a fine mesh sieve. The finer the mesh, the more evenly distributed it will be. If all you have is a coarse sieve, dampen the baking soda a little so it will be clumpy & not just fall right through.
Oh my Goodness! You resolved my issue. I was trying to find out how to salvage my mom's couch after several years. This is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you so much. Will be watching your videos from now on. Keep it going!❤

I am definitely going to try this. I have two little dogs and allergies plus chemical sensitivities so anything natural is the way to go for me. Thank you so much.
Needed a couch for my garage, it was free on the curb but still in working condition, reclining and all. But man, the pet odor and dog hair and smell was wicked. Thanks for reminding me baking soda exists. Also, rubbing alcohol my wife also puts in a bottle with essential oils. I was beginning to be a bit discouraged at the thing but I think we can get it in nice shape so I don't feel gross sitting on it :P
Love thd step of alcohol, didnt think about that. For a refreshener I use just a bit of Gain fabric softener with water in a squirt bottle and lightly spray. Leaves a hint of thag amazing fresh clean smell if Gain.
Just an FYI fabric softener does build up on fibers and creates a coating. I know for instance, when washing cloth diapers, you absolutely cannot use fabric softener in the wash specifically for this reason; it coats the fibers and will hinder the absorption of the materials. And that's even with the softener being rinsed away in the rinse cycle after it's applied. If you're spraying it onto a couch where you're sitting and stuff, that coating can actually attract more dirt and make the fabric even dirtier than before you cleaned. Especially since it's not being rinsed away. I love the smell of fabric softener myself, but you might be better off spraying it in inconspicuous areas of your couch, like under the cushions or on the back of it, to keep dirt from recollecting on your freshly washed fabric. Just an idea 😊
This was super helpful thank you.. I’ll be trying it out tomorrow.. my dog has made these couches smell and I have to do something.. good luck with the baby
Have you ever tried Electrolyzed Water? So simple - just salt and water, but needs to be electrolyzed to change the structure to HOCl. It becomes a really good cleaner, with a neutral charge that cleans better than most household cleaners, kills all the germs and bacteria that cause odour, and reverts back to natural producs so is environmentally friendly! The Egret Blaster comes in it's own sprayer as well as creating the product!
Thank you so much for this great tutorial I really want to deodorize our couch, and I was not sure about how to go about it. I will be trying this method! I'm very excited to see the results.Thank you again & God Bless you!
I have a lift chair few years old I use a washable chuck pad & always cover it with a sheet. But I had 2 cats & my chair doesn’t look dirty but it’s real smelly. This will be my first time cleaning it. I do have some woollite foam cleaner with brush on it. Would like to eventually try your method with the baking soda. Really nervous about cleaning it by hand but your video & other dyi videos will help me out tremendously. Thanks for posting it
Hello Ms. Andrea. This is my first time watching your channel. Thank you for sharing it with us. I do actually low on my finances, therefore; I will do exactly the way that you just showed us. Thank You!!
For the cushions on my sofa, I unzipped the covers, and put them in the washer with unscented laundry detergent, & baking soda. Much easier, & cleaner then sprinkling baking soda. Yes, baking soda is wonderful, I use it for cleaning, among other things. As for Febreze, it is dangerous for your health. Everything that you breath in is effecting the health of your unborn child.
@@elsiemarina2572 Read ingredients, and research them. Chlorella, (in tablet form), I have taken because it binds to chemicles and removes them from the body.
Thank you for sharing this! As soon as I saw your comment I unzipped mine and put them in the washing machine with some Tide Hygienic Clean detergent. I was worried about putting the cushions back in but it worked perfectly :)
I made the mistake of vacuuming an area on a rug I had dampened before it was dry. Ruined the vacuum cleaner. One of those mistakes someone only makes once. I'm sure most people never would do that. I put baking soda in a sugar shaker that's about 4", then shake it on whatever I'm cleaning. It comes out fairly even that way.
I have found my using Straight distilled white vinegar or diluting it in whatever proportion you like and putting it in a spray bottle works absolutely perfect for an odor you want to neutralize. It's quick and easy. The vinegar smell dissipates in about 2 minutes
I just watched this video. I am so going to try this method. I have dogs and yep my couch is smelly! I just moved and wow can you notice it more in a new place.
If you have outdoor rugs , they get mold on them. I lay out in my driveway, wet them with hose , sprinkle with baking soda and let sit. Baking soda kills the mold, rinse and rug is like new. I have baking soda under the cushions on couches, chairs and I sprinkle it on inside rugs before vacuuming.
This was great. Honestly was going to buy a $100 carpet and upholstery cleaner. Instead I drove 2 minutes to the dollar store and spent $10. For a sectional, it took me just over an hour between drying and vacuuming. Thank you so much!
I like carpets but I'm too old to shampoo carpets and I have dogs and cats they are hard on carpets.I replaced them with vinyl plank flooring.Good advice you gave.
I just got a loveseat at thrift shop, not spot on it but once I got it in the house .. the body odor smell is so strong, it makes my head hurt .. just got back with my supplies to try this .. will let you know. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW BABY :)❤️❤️
Hello, Claudia. I have been working on getting smells out of a thrift chair. Did this work on your loveseat? I haven't tried this exact technique but I will if it worked for your. Thanks!
We just got a couch from my uncle who recently passed and he smok ed horribly in the house and we had modernistic come out and clean it and its still disgusting. So I'm going to try this.
Yes, when vacuuming first it removes dirt, dust, odors, etc. After that I apply either a vinegar solution with an essential oil or baking powder with an essential oil. It depends on the situation, item, or odor. Hope this helps someone. 🌻🪴🌻🪴🌻🪴
Love Mrs. Meyers scents. I use a lot of their products, usually in Lemon Verbena which is wonderful. Also like Geranium. I'll have to try Peony. Going to work on my almost 30 yr old couch and see how and if it cleans up any.
One note on alcohol… I use it all day for disinfecting, but make sure it’s not in direct sun, or throw something in the dryer too soon. Just close your shades for 30 mins. It can indeed leave “burn” marks. My sad blanket and curtains were my learning victims.
A lot of furnishing fabric can be washed in the washing machine. Start with a low or cold temperature and give it a few cycles raising the temperature up to 40 and with cotton up to 60’. Do centrifuge on the lowest cycle and hang it out to dry.
Put wood or tile floors in your home and use Persian Carpets. You can change out your carpet or send it out to be dry cleaned and voila clean carpet without any hidden odors. Also cleaning wood or tile is very easy and it doesn't harbor any germs, dirt or smells. Leather furniture doesn't harbor any odors either. You can clean your leather furniture with leather cleaner and again no dirt no stench.
I know this video was 3 years ago, but I love your cleaning tips. I tried this process on my throw pillows that can’t be machine washed. I left them outside in the sun to dry, and they came out very stiff and crunchy feeling. I’m wondering if I just didn’t remove the baking soda well enough? Should I just mist the pillows with water and let them air dry again?
step 1: dampen couch step 2: sprinkle baking soda step 3: rub in circles the baking soda in and let it sit for AT LEAST 30 minutes step 4: vacuum all excess off step 5: spray rubbing alcohol on couch and let it completely dry step 6: (optional) freshen up the couch with febreeze or Meyer’s clean day with essential oils * if the smell is still not out, repeat these steps until it is out.
I did try the Alcohol after watching video of one of your cleaning hacks/Facts for getting stains out of your couch &resting gorgeous a minute & watching you scrolling I seen another way to cleaning/stairs so I watched that one and I awwh heck thats fine ill go ahead and let alcohol sit its time while mixing up the paste with B.S & 2 MORE Iingrredirects LOLcouch alcohol had sat its time out & I starting dipping my rage in the paste and after doing practically all of the couch I took the slip covers off & put in the wash and Andrea Jean my covers looked Awesome. Yes I was wore out & yes as u said you might want to purchase one the sweater shavers Yes mine left those little lint balls 😜 Thank-you for everything you share with us and I ❤️ watching your channel so I m glad I'm back I used to watch you all the time & I started watching DIY'S & your personality and attitude and I will say kindness b.c I know by your voice lol You always come on very happy sarcastic and joking ways so I just Love ❤️ you and people like you we need more people like that God Bless you and your family and stay safe
If you have any carpet cleaners go in to clean that upholstery make sure to tell them what you did so they don’t raise the pH too high and bleach the fabric thanks much
thanks for sharing, been thinking of what i can do to eliminate bad smell in our couch, i used to spray fabric freshener but now i'm gonna try this, and end with fabric freshener!
Oh thank you so much I need this big-time for the parts of my couch I cannot wash in the machine. We just fostered a 70lb pitty with skin conditions and allergies for three months. Poor baby was the first thing anyone smelled when we walked in the house or down stairs to the living areas. .

I will be honest. I did NOT think this would work. To my surprise it worked PERFECTLY!!! Didn’t think anything would work on that odor. THANK YOU!!!!

For your baking soda I bought a parmesan cheese shaker at the dollar tree and it holds a whole box of baking soda and works perfect.

We just got a couch from my uncle who recently passed and he smok ed horribly in the house and we had modernistic come out and clean it and its still disgusting. So I'm going to try this.
I love how wholesome the comments are haha
Vacuuming is actually the first step.
Yes, when vacuuming first it removes dirt, dust, odors, etc. After that I apply either a vinegar solution with an essential oil or baking powder with an essential oil. It depends on the situation, item, or odor. Hope this helps someone. 🌻🪴🌻🪴🌻🪴
@@HandmaidenOfDistinction66854 thank you. 🙂
Can't wait to try this and it's on time I'm in the market for a second hand couch so it's needed
How did it work?
Thank you! We have 2 dogs and the smell is terrible. I was not sure how to clean the living room chairs. I will try this. :)
❤️❤️❤️
Love Mrs. Meyers scents. I use a lot of their products, usually in Lemon Verbena which is wonderful. Also like Geranium. I'll have to try Peony. Going to work on my almost 30 yr old couch and see how and if it cleans up any.
I just found a Mint scent (not traditional minty) mixed in a bit with baking soda and sifted on couch, let it sit and vacuum off. Just did today!
Thank you Andrea! Appreciate your video about removing urine odor! Great Video! Excellent! I wish you all the best and your family!
Start with a low or cold temperature and give it a few cycles raising
the temperature up to 40 and with cotton up to 60’.
Do centrifuge on the lowest cycle and hang it out to dry.
Microfiber?
thanks for sharing my sister came me a sofa and she has dogs. i will try this thanks again
Watching yr videos in Israel, thank you so much. I will try this tomorrow!
This helped me so much my couch is like brand new
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love your channel! I'm a Virgo and I'm all about cleaning nooks and crannies. Great comments here too.
Thanks, Andrea! :-) Whenever I am about to start a deep-cleaning project, I usually look for videos you've posted about them first! ;-)
Wonderful!
You can put the baking soda in an empty dried disinfectant wips container. Put holes in top and sprinkle the baking soda on.
Love this video! Thank you for sharing. My dogs are not allowed on the couch but they rub along the sides. So smelly! I’m also a fan of thrifting. 😍
I used Lysol I sprayed the s… out of that part of my couch where my grandpa had an accident. Worked for me 😅
Congratulations to you both for your coming child I hope all goes well and you have a healthy happy baby 🍼 🐣🐹🍡🍭🐞🥰🥂

Omgggg yes “In Georgia for me, it’s not happening.. but it’s happening(; “ haha I like you!!
I just drilled holes in my baking soda box lol. Appreciate the video!
OMG!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!
This video is everything!
step 1: dampen couch
step 2: sprinkle baking soda
step 3: rub in circles the baking soda in and let it sit for AT LEAST 30 minutes
step 4: vacuum all excess off
step 5: spray rubbing alcohol on couch and let it completely dry
step 6: (optional) freshen up the couch with febreeze or Meyer’s clean day with essential oils
* if the smell is still not out, repeat these steps until it is out.
This worked great! Thanks for the step by step instructions:)

If you have any carpet cleaners go in to clean that upholstery make sure to tell them what you did so they don’t raise the pH too high and bleach the fabric thanks much
I will definitely try this! Thanks for the tips!
thanks for sharing, been thinking of what i can do to eliminate bad smell in our couch, i used to spray fabric freshener but now i'm gonna try this, and end with fabric freshener!
Oh thank you so much I need this big-time for the parts of my couch I cannot wash in the machine. We just fostered a 70lb pitty with skin conditions and allergies for three months. Poor baby was the first thing anyone smelled when we walked in the house or down stairs to the living areas. .
