Wow you go on some incredible runs, you are so lucky!!
Wonderful run!
Stunning !
Great run, looking forward to make the run from ocean to crater in february.
Great video Sage, and great place to be running!!!
In walked down the same Sliding Sands trail about half as far as the joggers. I enjoyed a surreal moment when clouds flowing up the crater from the ocean enveloped me in a drizzle of fine mist for a few minutes...then passed! Kinda reminded me of a cheap sci-fi movie.
You up there with the clouds. Good beautiful run.
Nice! Haleakala is special, read up on the lore to understand why. I ran there 40 years ago.... Get in by sun up
if you can. Don't loop back at 5K. Get a ride up and go out the bottom. This is a good one!
Very good, thanks for sharing!
Cool run! 👍🏻
Those views are amazing!
Anyone else born and/or raised in Hawai’i watching this
@1:46 sage just leaves Sandi in the dust. lmao
amazing
When life gives you a rocky road....run thru it....jog or crawL.....anyway-Enjoy!
I never would have guessed Maui got to 10000.
Sage, all those little bumps and rocks; how do you manage not to fall or twist your anckle regularly? Can you train for that?
Another question (about hart rate); in your marathon trainingplan you tell us to keep a steady easy pace for longruns (> 10 miles). But when I do a longrun, my hart rate goes gradually up. Do I eventually need to slow down to keep my hart rate more or less the same or do I have to keep the same pace
(It slipped away, sorry; I wanted to add: many thanks for your reply in advance. Regards, Rogier)
Cardiac creep is real- I consistently have to slow down to maintain the same heart rate.
I used to have really bad ankle problems, strengthening stability muscles definitely can be trained for. Jump rope, trail running, calf raises are all a good place to start.
I'd suggest to walk a few minutes when your heart rate gets too high.
I’m pretty sure it’s fine to have heart rate going up. Just go a consistent pace
Random hiker "Excuse me do you know how far it is to the top?" Sage "Oh about 3 miles, 5 kilometers to the top"...
Awesome video Sage! What camera are you using?
You should have tried running with a drone, without trees around that trial, It would have captured those cool views. Not sure if it’s allowed in that area though.
No drones allowed in National Parks.
shielste oh I didn’t know that. 😞
@Eric Capostagno there are drones that can automatically follow you if you have the censor on you. So Sage could carry it in his handheld or attached to his go pro and the drone would chase him. A lot of trail runners are using them. But I think he does a good enough job with just the gopro he doesn't need a drone.
Random question, but what sun glasses do you where?
What hydration system do you use?
Water
GoryTV I specifically meant the brand of the hydration system. Thanks!
