Ever since Yamaha grabbed a hold of Ampeg it's only been a good thing. They developed so much new stuff it's amazing. As an avid Ampeg user I absolutely salute this. Way to go Japan, and thank you.
This thing is so close to having everything that I need. I only wish it had an effects loop so I could run my phaser, delay and reverb after the SGT cranked amp sounds but still benefit from the cab sim.
Kai plays so tight and has a great sound! I'd love to see a series where every bass player on your channel presents his own favourite basses (that were demo'ed on this channel?), pedals and maybe their live rig :-). Keep it up!
Yup. The AmpegTV guys tried this in real time during a livestream. It works! But the Aux Input is after the cabsim. You can also connect the Thru to the Aux Input and use it as a dry blend.
Thanks. Regarding Lars Lehmann Frank Itt and the other bass stars on this channel: to me music is everything but a competition! It’s expression, it’s art. It’s not sports. I’m super happy when someone likes my playing and I love the way Frank, Lars, René and the others here dig in. So there you go.
@MattBreaksWax nope, got rid of that long ago. It's a tone suck pedal, meaning that it has to be always on for it to sound good. I decided not to purchase the SGT-DI. I use Pettyjohn and Saturnworks tube preamps now. Also got a Radial DI. Everything is much better now.
Looks like ampeg and line 6 are finally working together because this is solid if it’s anything like the profile in the helix I’m sold and if it’s all true my real svt will probably start to stay home more.
Maybe Ampeg got pissed with all these pedal/preamps trying to emulate their amps and decided to break the competition once and for all with that. Both B15 and SVT, classic cabinets, drive and very connections. well done
I imagine the signal gets split somewhere, the through signal going to the bass amp wouldn’t need the cab sim so the xlr and maybe the phones amp would be the only things that need it 🤷♂️
Showed up at the house today via Sweetwater but the wife had a migraine so tomorrow...Yeah, I know headphones but that's not why I bought it, just an added use. Edit, several months have passed and I am less than thrilled with this. My Ampeg SVP pro preamp sounds real to me though I do not want to lug the power amp along to gig. I believe I will sell this Ampeg box as its just not measuring up to the real thing for me. Anything can sound good alone but when in a mix the wrong sound gets lost.
Impressive features! Bass isn’t my main instrument, so I’ve been looking for a good all-in-one solution for some time in order to avoid accumulating bass gear. This could be it.
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!! Just found you (liked and subscribed) and now I’m off to watch more. Man, I’m psyched! How do you guys say: tierisch GEIL! Okay, bis später - Tchüß!
Please someone tell me what is this blue Yamaha bass. As a teenager I bought one of those second-hand for really cheap - it's all I could afford. But I never knew anything about it. Do I have something valuable in my hands?
Wie fett der sbv einfach ist, Aaaaaahhhhh Always thinking about getting one of those pedals. That one is definetly instantly up there with darkglass and co for me
aguilar rules,EBS rules swr rules but definitely NOT ampeg. i am for 35 years session bass player and they are not so good. if someone wants high end sound and diversity, they are the last in line
I agree in one sense: Musicman stingray always sounds similar-ish no matter what amp/ preamp you’re using. The Yamaha or any precision Jazzbass style Bass sound very different with various amps. Ampeg is either Stax Motown or 60s tone or a rock sound. If that’s not your thing obviously other amps are more to your liking. But Ampeg is definitely a standard and by many considered THE bass amp (me included).
Correction: after we finished this video I learned that the amp sounds are only active if the SGT section is active!
Hey what is that blue Yamaha ? on SVT+SGT+pick

Fantastic idea 😊
He makes the right faces so you know when he plays it, he means it!😅
Toight like a fooking Tiger 🐅 😈
But the vídeo is to show the Ampeg and not to show your opinion about the bass player
Finally someone who plays bass-demos with a pick!
Check out the channel of Jonny Dibble. He's making reviews and stuff and plays his Bass in all styles, pick, finger, slap.. love that guy.
@@smeckmusicofficial Will do, thx!
it sounds really great ! Thanks for this demo. The bass player is really good, congrats man !
Looks great, would have been nice to see how it does the smooth low end rather than distortion and pick playing
Great demo well done cheers
Love it. Might have to sell my SCR-DI and get one of these.
Damn, this is the now the archetype for throw everything in a gigbag and go. I think I'm buying one of these.
That thing looks amazing and I will definitely be considering one when they are released. Great review!
The pedal sounds great, a good competitor for sans amp. The demo bass player has the coolest bass face. L8ke the tones available
That new guy is also a great bassplayer
He truly needs an Ampeg amp back there, I've used them since 1968. The best bass amps in the world, bar none!
Great! Kai you are and look brilliant, and what a sound 👌
Those are the sounds. Well done
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I thought "if this can do SVT and B15, it's going to be a hit".
The kid plays well and is working on his own bass face.
I still want more fiddling with the knobs Gregor!!
The only suggestion I can think of would be a FX loop. But could the Preamp Out / Aux In connections function as a FX loop, I wonder?
Yup. The AmpegTV guys tried this in real time during a livestream. It works! But the Aux Input is after the cabsim. You can also connect the Thru to the Aux Input and use it as a dry blend.
By far, the best bass player you've ever had on your channel.

Great review, and thanks for all the information. I'll have to check one out. Cheers!

Next level bass face on this guy!!
Recently I bought a Sansamp VT-DI that I’m in love with. But this is giving me serious gas!
That riff at 1:58 really sounds like Kyuss! Awesome!
I was thinking Tool.
Thanks Gregor 🇬🇧🎶🎧👍🙏🎸

Damn, I have to get some Birkenstock's !
Kai always delivers a quality in his playing worthy of any product you put in front of him
Does the cab sim only come out of the DI or also through the usual output?
looking forward to the inexpensive clones of this ;)
all jokes aside this really feels like a Bass amp killer in a way the previous ones weren't quite
This looks like a hit!
Maybe Ampeg got pissed with all these pedal/preamps trying to emulate their amps and decided to break the competition once and for all with that. Both B15 and SVT, classic cabinets, drive and very connections. well done
It is difficult to control the output volume when using the SGT channel live. Volume controls the effect and should be the output of the effect.
pretty interested in this pedal, has anyone tried it too? whats the situation using a jazz bass or hofner viola?
This is a game changer!
The IR loader means the signal's converted to digital at some point right, but if you bypass the cab sim is it analog all the way through?
I imagine the signal gets split somewhere, the through signal going to the bass amp wouldn’t need the cab sim so the xlr and maybe the phones amp would be the only things that need it 🤷♂️
Yes, this one I'll buy.
Ampeg for the win 🎉

Is it possible to turn on only sgt bypassing preamp?
I think I see the Yamaha (owns Ampeg) influence, nice package!
As do they own Line 6 which is why the Ampeg stuff is actually called out by name on the HX Stomp/ Helix and sounds so good to me!
You got to demo the new Bergantino Super Pre….now that will rule the bass world
Just received it!

I think it sounds ok. I did like the tones of the SVT- SGT combined.
How do you feel this compares to the revolt? I just got mine and I’m loving it.
HX stomps gets close to SVT tone as well has having massively morr features in a smaller box 🤷🏻♂️
Would this work on a frfr speaker? 🤔
Uhhh WHAT is that blue Yamaha?? Gorgeous instrument!
Looks like a Yamaha SBV 500.
I was wondering the same thing. Great rock sound.
SBV-550
I have a 1966 model. Sunburst. Thin fast neck.
Why no demo of the B-15, even if it was only for 30 seconds?
Wondering what its like compeer to the Origin BassRig Super Vintage ?
Is the cab SIM only through the DI? .....can you use with the jack output (straight into a Amp)
Does it have an effects loop?
Does the USB out let you record directly into a computer?
How could they forget an Input Gain control to adjust the output differences of active and passives basses?
I think you have one built into your bass ? isn't that exactly what your volume control on your bass does?
I think that is the volume control on the left end
Drive comparison between that and the Bergi SPre ? :D
Is it possible to use the DI with only the cab sim?
Yes, the amp Sims are only active with the SGT distortion
What about comparing to the VY Bass DI?
Great video! Could you review the Fender Downtown Express? It is a pedal with eq, comp and overdrive ^^ Thought about buying that
Don’t get it. It’s not good. Soundwise as well as designwise. Footswitches are way too close to each other
Would love a comparison between this and the Sansamp BDDI V2!
Compare this to the VT Bass DI.

Fuck me I need this so bad hahah I wish I didnt live in a third world country. Pedals like this are extremely hard to find
Ampeg was like: "People pay HOW MUCH for those Origin pedals??!?!?!"
Ampeg: "So how many pedal makers are advertising their products as B15, SVT in a box? But, we are making those actually right?!"
And it’s worth every dollar, this won’t even touch the SV-Pre, moreso the BASSRig 😂
@@superpanget2 this sounds closer to the real stuff, but I'm sure the Origin pedals are better quality.
